Great tour! We leaned a lot about the history of Heidelberg. Our guide Ekki was very knowledgeable about the city and went above and beyond for us. He even gaves us great recommendations after to tour for other things to do while we are here. It was totally worth it and we now have a greater appreciation for this cute little town.

Henry was good. Our tour ended up being a private one as the other participants cancelled ... hence the 4 rating as having more people generally stimulates more and different conversations ... not Henry's fault but an overall observation.

Great tour! This was nearly a private tour with Henry, as my sister and I were the only two people in the group. It was great seeing Heidelberg from the perspective of a local. I had trouble with my schedule, and the company was very responsive to my changing itinerary.

First, I want to say our guide, Henry, was great.
My main complaint was the difference between the Viator description of the tour on the first page and then when you select booking, you get three options. The first is for a 1 hour tour (for about 42 euros) , then an option for a 2.5 hr tour (82 euro) with time for a meal and a 3rd option that’s even more expensive.
But if you read the description of the “Hberg old town walking tour”, the itinerary shows it takes about 2 hours to complete (and includes the castle).
I liked where our guide took us and what he talked about, but I think that Viator needs to make the description more accurate and state upfront that the listed price is for a one hour tour.

In order to make this clear for others let me clarify:
1 hour tour - provides an overview of Heidelberg’s history & guides u around the heart of the Old Town, plus great views of the Castle & an explanation of it‘s 600 year history. However we do NOT go up to the Castle on this tour.
2hr tour - everything that’s in the 1 hour tour plus more sites of the Old Town & tips to get the most out of the rest of your time in Heidelberg. On this tour we also do NOT go up to the Castle.
2.5 hrs tour - this is the tour for people who want to see the sites of the Old Town & then go up to the Castle, go inside the Castle Courtyard, visit the wine cellar (& see the giant barrel)& get the full experience.
As Heidelberg has 828 years of history! I feel a longer tour is required to get the most out of the Old Town & Castle.

Bela was a wonderful tour guide. She directed our family of 7 to key points in the Old Town and provided the history about each place. My granddaughter is a college student and was particularly interested in the Univ. of Heidelberg Student Jail. Bela also recommended restaurants and shops. We shared a large entree at Vetter's that included sausages, schnitzel and roast pork with potatoes.

I jokingly told Henry that he is the greatest tour guide in Old Town, Heidelberg! In reality, he is one of the best tour guides that I have encountered because of his knowledge and also his sense of humor. He made the tour interactive by asking questions and connecting us to what was familiar to us (Jose Rizal! Flowers of Heidelberg!), that the tour was rich not only because of the beautiful sites but also because of the narratives he told. Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hours with Henry and would recommend his tour!

Philipp was an excellent guide for our tour. While he came off a little nervous at first, he quickly hit his stride with his knowledge of Heidelberg and the surrounding countryside. He was a little difficult to understand at first, but we quickly adapted to his accent. Highly recommend this tour.

But I have decided that on the 1 & 2 hr tours there is just not enough time to see the best of the Old Town and get up to the Castle and see all there is to see up there too. We had an absolutely fantastic tour with our guide Ekki. We love learining about the history of the place we visit and this tour did not dissapoint. It also we areally worthwhile to take the tour in the evening of the day of our arrival, it made the visit much more interesting. We took two other tours with Viator whilst in Germany and Ekki was our favorite guide.

It was terrible, the person didn’t acknowledge kept on not answering didn’t even have any knowledge or language skills made no eye contact we left in 1-2 minutes and definitely would want refund or canceling all our future orders 🙁🙁and this is the first time we have ever given any bad review so you can imagine how terrible it was.
