Paul was a great guide. His knowledge has to be unmatched. We never know anything about the Halifa explosion. We had no idea of Halifax's connection to the titanic. Highly recommend this tour. We came to Halifx in March and was not disappointed.

Trip was fantastic. The higher roof van was great, easy to get in and out. Paul gave such a great tour all over Halifax, Dartmouth and Fishermans Cove. Lunch was very good in Dartmouth. We learned so much of the history of the city, the ship explosion, Titanic history and the gravesites. His presentation of videos and talking told us so much more than we had ever learned from being in Halifax before on a different tour. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone

Paul does a wonderful job and is very passionate about his city. He was very informative and told us many things we did not know. I would have given a 5, however because our cruise ship was leaving at 3:30, he said that wasn’t enough time to do everything. He cut our tour short even though it said 6 hours when I booked it. Where we were dropped off was 1-1/2 miles from our ship (even though he said it was only a few blocks) and we had to walk back to our ship in the rain. If I would have known all of this I definitely would not have booked this excursion.

Thank you Connie_P for taking a moment to review your Tour of Historic Halifax...Sorry to hear that you felt you were short changed due to your Cruise Vessel with a Short Port Call you were picked up at 8.30 AM @ Pier 23 and first thing I asked you was what time do you need to be back and you said Last Tender was 3.30 PM...After Lunch in Dartmouth...I walked you down to catch the Ferry in Dartmouth to Halifax and I paid your fare at approximately 2.30 PM so that's Six Hours so you had an hour to walk back to Pier 23 once you got to Halifax and you only missed Fisherman's Cove and a little of Dartmouth and I should be noted that ALL other Guests that day were out of Downtown Hotels that were NOT leaving and most People LOVE the walk along The Worlds Longest Downtown Boardwalk back to their Cruise Vessel as there is LOT'S to see...Google Maps say's it 1.8 KM or 25 Minute walk and Famous saying in Nova Scotia "Don't Like the Weather Wait a Minute it Will Change"...I can't control the weather it wasn't Raining when I got back to the other Guests and headed to Fisherman's Cove...Bottom Line here is you got back to your Vessel in time to catch the LAST TENDER...Merci Beaucoup for your kind words

This tour was the best!!!! Paul picked us up at the cruiseport. His knowledge of the history of Halifax is outstanding. He took us to places the buses don’t go. This is the best tour I have ever been on. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Karen_P...This is the First review I have received from someone that didn't do a Tour with me...So for those reading this REALLY know how this went down and at no time was I unpleasant with you as that's NOT who I am as you can see by my many VERY Favorable Reviews...My First interaction with you was through Text on August 22 when I sent you a Standard Text that I send to all Guests Thanking them for Booking with Me and mentions that pick ups are at any Downtown Hotel or Meet at Pier/Pavilion 22...You had booked Best Western Chocolate Lake which is NOT a Downtown Hotel...I gave you a call and you agreed you would meet at Pier/Pavilion 22 @ 9 AM on August 30...I confirmed with Standard Conformation Email...August 30, 2025 the night before the Tour...You sent me a Text stating and I quote..."I am not going to be able to go. I don't feel well and need to go to a walk in clinic before they close at one. I'm very sorry" Unquote...Then I sent text "Karen you understand that Tripadvisor /Viator will still charge your credit card as you didn’t cancel the booking within 24 hours of the booked date that’s their policy not mine"...You responded "Of Course"...Then I texted you "I hope you’re feeling better soon and have a chance to do the tour with me maybe sometime in the future…You replied "Thank you. "I'm sorry to miss it" to which I replied..."If you do have a chance in the future to return, just let me know contact me directly don’t book with Viator/Tripadvisor and I will honour your booking. That’s my policy"...You replied Thanks...Where are the unfavorable Interactions..."Inquiring minds want to know"

This is a small group option, with a maximum of 10 people. I chose it because I am unable to walk very far due to a medical condition and this is primarily a driving tour with only a few short walks. Paul was an excellent guide and showed us places and their historical backgrounds that I had never seen before in two previous visits to Halifax.

Paul provided an exceptional city tour of Halifax. His knowledge is extensive, we learned about the area's history, important landmarks and many historic sites. His bus is very comfortable, clean and safe. I liked that he had a tablet mounted at the front of the bus that he used to compliment his teachings by showing pictures and short YouTube clips. Paul McNeil is a top-notch guide who is extremely knowledgeable and made the tour fun with his expertise and humor. Would highly recommend him and this very inclusive tour. Saw several sires that were usually not covered by other tours. There was so much I never knew about Halifax and it’s history!

We were with another tour group and took this one on our own. So glad we did. The only downside- I didn’t care for the lunch stop. But still 5 gold stars!!!

Our tour guide was an excellent driver, extremely organized, and he had an abundant knowledge of Halifax. He showed videos in the van to help explain historical locations. LOTS of information!
However, we spent the whole day practically in the van. The trip to the botanical Gardens was excellent. I would’ve preferred more time outside the van, or a museum, or just exploring the views.
There was no interaction with the other guests as we needed to “listen” most of the time.
Fortunately we had a great weather day!

I just read your 4 star review and I am Grateful for that Review that is over all very positive...BUT I'm a little perplexed...Why would you have written the comment that we've spent the whole day practically in the van...People will read that and think I offer just a driving tour this could hurt my business in a negative way and also that's Not True you got out at the Public Gardens as you mentioned, you got out at the Citadel for Noon Gun & Charging of the 78th Highlanders, you got out at Two the Three Titanic Grave sites, you got out of the Van for Lunch in Dartmouth where you could've had interaction with the other Guests you signed up for a History Tour NOT a Social Event...You got out of the van in Fisherman's Cove, and we would have gotten out of the van for the Halifax Explosion Memorial but you wanted to be back to ship by 3 PM when you didn’t have to be back till 3.30 PM and I got you back by 3 PM as promised...You had mentioned about going to a Museum...No where do I say we go to a Museum that also would've eaten up quite a bit of time and extra cost to you the other Guests PLUS you had a very short Port Call of 7 AM to 4 PM...I'm just trying to show my Guests ALL the BEST of Canada's Crown Jewel City" in a very short period of time that you had here in Halifax...Also, we had a group of 9 Guests that day or so getting in and out of the van eats up time... I go out of my way to make sure that my Guests have an Enjoyable, Memorable and Comfortable Day...Merci Beaucoup for you kind words it's just the comment "However, we spent the whole day practically in the van"...That I felt I had to Rebut!!

Was excellent tour. We’ve taken cruise ship tours in the past and they paled in a comparison with this tour. Guide was very experienced and knowledgeable about the city. We saw many areas of Halifax which we had never seen before like the firing of the cannon and changing of the guard at noon. We arrived there 10 minutes before, just in time to get a wonderful view. As a requirement for us, we were picked up and delivered back to the ship. It was very easy to find the departure location. We strongly recommend this tour.

As an avid photographer, I would have liked more stops to take photos but in fairness, I didn't request this and I'm sure Paul would have tried to accommodate my needs if asked to.

I think I can honestly say that this tour was the best historical tour we have been on. Paul obviously holds the people of Halifax, past and present, very close to his heart. A very engaging gentleman who made sure we were all well looked after and in a small enough group to make it more of a personal experience. We loved hearing about the Halifax and Titanic disasters and appreciated the sensitivity with which they were both approached. Paul’s use of a large screen tablet in the vehicle was a great addition and gave us a much deeper understanding of each subject. Loved visiting the Fishermans’ Cove and driving around the main attractions of Halifax. We attended the tour on the second day of our holiday and felt our remaining time spent in Halifax was much enriched by this. Thank you Paul!
