The experience started on time. Mustafa was already waiting and he was super nice and took us through the planned program, teaching us a little more about Fez and Moroccan culture. He also was kind enough to answer our questions and give us recommendations. Just because we mentioned one time during our conversation that we haven’t tried the fish pastilla, he managed to stop on the way back to final point to surprise us with Fish pastilla to take away with us. Such a beautiful gesture to show the warmth and hospitality of Morocco!!! I highly recommend this activity.

Our guide Muhammad was wonderful, he took the time to explain whatever history was necessary including pointing out some key areas of interest. My favorite was Ifrane. This trip exposed me to a different Morocco, just love it! Also it was exciting to visit a real Berber cave.

Disappointing!

Disappointing! We were taken to uninteresting towns and just told to do our own thing! Nothing of interest to see! No explanation from the guide as to what to see and do!. Feeding the monkeys was the only enjoyable activity! Nothing to see in Ifrane! Very boring trip!. Don’t waste your money!

The worst experience

Tour guides were completely inexperienced, didn’t know what they were doing. Didn’t provide any information about the locations and just basically left us alone. Had a health situation and didn’t take us directly to Fes, but instead went around little towns looking for a hospital/clinic that had the medicine that we needed, wasting our time in the process. It was super stressful and unnecessary. Don’t recommend it in any way. At least we got a reimbursement and an apology right away, which made things a little bit better.

Our driver and our translator were really nice, the reason why we are not giving less. They took us to see many things but I had to land them the itinerary, because maybe the agency didn't tell them what we had planned. Both hacine and oumaima were such good people and the best part of the trip was being with them and get to know them. The best part was the monkey forest, other villages were just regular to visit.

This tour was actually a pleasant surprise and easily became one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide, Aziz, was the best guide we had in Fez and he took the time to explain a lot about Morocco, Fez, and the surrounding towns and histories. I agree with one of the other reviewers that there's a typo in the description of this tour- it's not maggots but magots- ADORABLE little monkeys in the forest that will gently eat peanuts from your hand. It's definitely a slower pace than some of the other Fez tours but our guide was also happy to help us with buying some carpets and other souvenirs that are much much cheaper than Fez or Chefchaoen or Marrakesh and also was happy to oblige us in taking us to a non-touristy lunch destination something that we did not get the option of for some other tours in Morocco.

We started the day by being picked up from Bab Bouljoud Blue Gate as our riad wasn't very easily accessible. Our driver Karlim was funny and talkative from the start, asking all about us and telling us about Fes where he has lived for 35yrs!. We drove up through the Middle Atlas, which did have some good view points, but mostly looked quite similar. We came to the lake which was unfortunately dried up as there hadn't been much rain recently, but I imagine it would be a breathtaking sight had it had water. Perhaps best to check the rainfall prior to the tour, as it was supposedly wet a couple of weeks before. We then went to the Cedar Forest which was my favourite part. It was very odd to see such a forest when we had been so used to the arid landscape around the medina of Fes, and was great to explore. After a bit of walking we came down again and spent some time feeding the monkeys here nuts that a man was selling very cheap. The monkeys were very people-friendly and quite gentle when taking food, although we had to be careful they didn't pinch the whole bag! We then went to Ifrane, a picturesque town that does look very European and complete contrast to the old city of Fes. However there wasn't much to do here and was very similar to parts of Europe, when we wanted to experience a different culture to our home continent. Lastly we stopped in Azrou, a town quite high up with a very good viewpoint but not a whole lot else to see. We had a mint tea here before driving back to Fes. The sights to see on the tour were not incredible, and really the cedar forest and lake probably! make this tour. The towns were both quite built up and not much to do. I think to improve this tour probably not go to Azrou, and go to a small mountain village, a Middle Atlas apple orchard or olive farm and learn more about how people live in the mountains and what the produce is that comes from them. Karlim The Joker! was very entertaining and funny throughout however, making us laugh, teaching us French and Arabic and telling us about different areas of the country and Fes! He made the tour worth doing and much more enjoyable!

The tour company was excellent, timely, and responsive to my questions. Our driver/guide was very professional and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the sites on the tour itself were rather boring. Also, I would note that there is a really poor translation in the description. It says you'll see maggots, which I was definitely not interested in. It turns out that this was a reference to a type of monkey called the magot, which is actually very cute.

Muy distinto, es conocer un Marruecos que ni siquiera sabes que existe. Verde, montañoso, sin turismo. Ali fue nuestro guía. Fue muy amable, su conducción perfecta, con anécdotas divertidas y con recomendaciones, muy paciente con el tiempo que dedicábamos a visitar los sitios. 100% recomendable viajar con Ali, tiene un español muy fluido.

Fue bastante decepcionante, ya que no vimos nada ni nos explicaron nada interesante. No fue lo que esperamos. Las paradas eran muy largas con muchos tiempos muertos donde no había nada que hacer. Para nosotros fue una perdida de tiempo, ya que perdimos un día entero. No lo recomendaría a nadie. El guía tampoco explicó nada. Realmente era un chófer que nos llevaba, nos soltaba 1 hora en cada pueblo y nos recogía.

Wir hatten einen netten Fahrer, der uns vielsprachig vieles erklärt hat. Aber eigentlich gab es nicht viel zu sehen. Ifrane und Azrou sind sehr unspektakuläre Orte. Im Zedernwald gab es halt ein paar Affen zu sehen. Abholung und Kommunikation haben wie immer gut geklappt. Aber dieser Ausflug hat für das Geld echt zu wenig geboten.
