this was supposed to be a tour of the Jewish quarter. There was no fully narrated tour on Fes Jewish heritage. Our guide had only a very superficial knowledge of the Jewish history of Fes. there was no Jewish community's local expert as advertised in the tour. the closest was a guide of the synagogue. . we were not taken to a museum at the Jewish cemetery and he didnt know about Solica or any of the significant tombs,. we were not taken to the home of Maimonides as advertised and when I asked the guide, he had never even heard of Maimonides. there was no stop for a mint tea at a local family and entry to everything was extra. He was ok as a general tour guide of other aspects of Fes, but had i known how little this resembled the advertised tour, i would not have chosen this tour. Disappointing, as my previous experiences with Viator have been good.

This was an excellent tour, led by Idriss, who was very knowledgeable about the history of and the current Jewish community. We were worried a bit about taking this tour in light of the tensions caused by the Israel-Hamas war, but Idriss put us right at ease and emphasized the ways that the Fes community have always been interconnected irrespective of religion. He was truly a magnificent guide and we were very appreciative of the knowledge he shared. He also worked with us to structure the rest of the tour and suggested things we had not yet seen. A great tour and a lovely person.
