This trip with Darko was great! The early pickup was an awesome option to see Perast as it was just waking up and Kotor before it got too busy. Budva is so worth seeing too. It's a great option for those who want to get a sense of the history and layout of the cities while on the road, but are also looking to explore on your own time. This is not a guided walking tour and there's time to explore and try all Darko's recommendations.

I am writing this review at 7:39 am at my hotel now. I’ve been waiting for the tour guide to pick me up at 6:45 but no one has come until I just received an email telling me that a refund is made. This is totally unprofessional and unacceptable. You can imagine my disappointment.

Darko was professional and very knowledgeable. He stroke conversations naturally and took care of everyone in the group. Montenegro was amazing and I would recommend this tour to anyone thinking about day trips from Dubrovnik

Andrew, the guide, was a few standard deviations from the norm but dud privide some good commentary. Sights in Montenegro were beautiful. Be prepared for lots of traffic.

Thanks a lot to Darco for great journey! Very friendly and good driver who we felt safe with. Great places to visit in Montenegro, recommend to use this opportunity :)

Highlights: Lady of the Rock, historic and beautiful; walled city of Kotor, interesting architecture, stunning churches, wonderful pastries;
Budva, modern bursting with new construction with beautiful views of the bay.
The best part of the tour was our driver-guide Andrew. He was wonderful. He kept us entertained with information about the culture and history of the area. He did a great job getting us through the border crossings and pointing out the highlights of each town. He had great recommendations for where to go, what to see and what to eat in each town.

Excellent day spent in the very capable hands of our guide, Darko. Seemless travel from Dubrovnik into Montenegro. Beautiful countryside and amazing visit to three ancient and wonderful towns filled with interesting history, architecture and culture. A day very worthwhile.

We had an enjoyable day on this tour to Montenegro. We appreciated the early pick up and start from Dubrovnik in order to miss the crowds at the border and in the other cities. It was nice to stop in Plitvice for a coffee and a quiet walk in the early morning. Kotor was our favorite stop with much exploring and we ate lunch in Budva as there was less to explore there. We did not pay to enter Kotor in Oct and we did not take the boat in Plitvice as other reviewers mentioned.

I really had a fun and thrilling experience with this tour. I really love every second of this. Darko is very hands on when it comes to facilitating this group. He made sure that he gave us some guidance, tips, and suggestions before letting us go in every places. I could not thank him enough. He did an excellent job.
Dominic_L, Oct 2025
It is an all day tour as advertised. Tip your driver/guide well - they put a lot of time and effort into making the tour special for you.
Ciara_H, Oct 2025
This tour is an early start but don’t let it put you off! It’s a great way to see parts of Montenegro, including some stunning scenery.
Darko was our guide - he was so knowledgable, accommodating and passionate about the area. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Elizabeth_A, Oct 2025
Would have preferred fewer stops that allowed more time. Our Lady of the Lake Island was great but the small town was not worth the time. Our guide Anthony was excellent!
Naahid_D, Oct 2025
We had a great time on our Montenegro tour with Darko! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all of our questions throughout the day. The tour was well-paced with beautiful stops and plenty of interesting insights about each place. Overall, it was a really good experience and Darko made the day smooth and enjoyable.
Susan_B, Oct 2025
Our driver was an excellent guide with tons of information about Montenegro and each stop. It is a beautiful country and we especially loved Kotor. The driver navigated road construction in a heavy rainstorm on the way back to Croatia.
Mary_G, Oct 2025
It is a tour of the beautiful bay and towns along the bay of Kotor a must see. Darko our drivers experience in driving and telling jokes had us laughing. His knowledge of places around the bay is the best as it put in perspective what people living along the bay have to contend with during the past. Ask for Darko it will be a good tour for you
Joanne_K, Oct 2025
This is a great tour for people that want some history about Montenegro and Croatia but want to independently explore each town. Darko was our driver and he offered great knowledge and we loved his dad jokes! As two women traveling alone, we felt comfortable and safe with Darko. If you want a fun driver that offers a real world version of how the cultures of the Slavic countries interact, but with a dash of dry humor, then Darko is your guy !!!! Please know that This is an independent tour which was perfect for us as we prefer to explore on our own with great recommendations . Our main goal was to learn a bit of history during the drive, get through customs quickly and get there safely. Purchasing a rental car and figuring it out on our own was out of our comfort zone-
If you want handholding this isn’t the tour for you, but if you want some history and a day long driver that keeps you safe and is efficient, the you booked the right company !
Dianne_M, Oct 2025
Trip was fun, our driver Andrew was knowledgeable and provided information and interesting facts about each location.
Going through border control was also quick and easy.
Lynn_D, Oct 2025
Andrew picked us up early at our hotel. He provided us with lots of interesting information throughout the day. He made the border crossings very easy and hassle-free. I enjoyed the visit to Perast. The boat ride to the Lady of the Rocks was worthwhile, as was Andrew’s story about the origin of the church. The church is seldom open.
I liked Kotor and got lost in the maze of the Old Town. In Budva, we had supper in the restaurant that Andrew recommended. It was delicious!
Unfortunately, the highway is undergoing a lot of construction which made the drive tedious at times.
Sharon_B, Sep 2025
Very early morning start, but worth it to get through the boarder crossing with ease. Andrew our driver, how do you say, guide was an excellent navigator, even with traffic. First stop was short and enjoyed the second and third stops more, but overall it was worth our visit.
Thomas_R, Sep 2025
Amazing day trip to Montenegro. Our guide Darko was great and he made sure we saw all the highlights of this tour including all the background history and more. The restaurant in Budva. he recommended was Jadran...food was incredible. One of the best Viator tours we have been on.
Vivian_F, Sep 2025
Montenegro was beautiful and worth the visit. The tour plan was great but there were some delays due to road construction and falling rocks (understandable). Kotor was very similar to Dubrovnik but Budva was nice and the restaurant on the water was excellent. Our driver was very friendly and knowledgeable but was driving a bit fast on some narrow and winding roads which made some of us anxious.
SAMUEL_B, Sep 2025
I have been on day tours similar to this all over the world and this was by far the best.
Our guide went above and beyond to make us laugh and enjoy.
I didn’t want the tour to end.
Irene_L, Sep 2025
Our driver Ivo not only has a wealth of knowledge of the Montenegro scene, he also has exceptional linguistics ability to code switch between two languages - English and Spanish - and all this whilst driving and skilfully navigating the traffic on the road. I also realised that he knows a couple more other languages and all self-taught whilst on the road! He was also extremely patient and answered every question with precision. We enjoyed this tour very much because of Ivo. When doing such day trips and crossing the border from Croatia to Montenegro, you must remember that the time spent on the road is as long as being at the places of interest themselves and thus, having a driver with such a good grasp of history and general knowledge of the places we passed by is extremely invaluable. Ivo deserves 5 stars! Now to the places we travel to: Perast is a very small town with only Our Lady of the Rocks and the short boat ride there as the main focus of this part of the itinerary. The decision to be there early is a good one as we saw how calm the waters were and the whole vista with the mountains as a backdrop without any tourists presented themselves in a very beautiful surreal way. Next, Kotor. I must say I was disappointed with the old town of Kotor having come from Dubrovnik. The cobblestoned streets are littered with cigarette butts and some parts need repair as the rough and uneven surfaces with a few potholes here and there makes walking a tad unsafe. Next Budva. I prefer this old town to Kotor. It's more well-managed. Lots of good coffee spots and a lovely promenade to view the activities on the waters and paragliding in the sky. All in all, the people in the van also makes or breaks the experience. We are glad ours was good company.
Lucy_S, Sep 2025
There will be a lot of time in the van but our driver got us through border very quickly! The first stop in the morning with boat ride to Lady of the Rock was lovely.
Prabhjot_K, Sep 2025
Saw another beautiful country.
Great experience walking in old city and beach
We will recommend to all
Ride was short from Croatia and crossing boarder was a breeze
Darlene_D, Sep 2025
It was okay. The driver we had was difficult to understand. The first stop is to a small village. The village is cute but there is nothing there except a tiny boat ride which they want 10 euros for. Not worth it at all. Then onto Kotor. It was a very busy place with 3 cruise ships in port. If you are going to Dubrovnik or split then this is just a smaller version of it. The last place we went to was another walled city but what was nice is the restaurants along the river, we sat and had lunch. They also charged us 3 euros to go through Kotor but when we looked it up on the internet it should have been 1 euro. So we assumed it was just an extra tip for our driver. Overall, we are glad we went and saw Montengro but would never go again.
Jennifer_H, Sep 2025
Lovely trip with Darko today. Perast and Kotor beautiful. Road to Budvar a bit bumpy but our driver kept us informed and entertained.
Mitzi_D, Sep 2025
Picked us up on time at our airbnb. Full day of beautiful sites and lots of information from our guide.
Patricia_W, Sep 2025
Andrew our driver was a lot of fun, very knowledgeable, and very caring. I highly recommend this trip.
Kieran_S, Sep 2025
Fantastic tour with our guide Andrew who provided us with endless knowledge, knew all the tricks to get around Montenegro and the Bay of Kotor as fast as possible to give you as much time to explore as possible while also giving you tips in each location.
It’s an early start but worth it to avoid as much traffic as you can, you even catch Perast at a really quiet time giving you time to do the Lady of the Rocks excursion which the tour guide will organise with a boat driver
Relaxed day excursion with plenty of freedom, Andrew will keep you entertained for the journey with plenty of facts and a great sense of humour
