I had a food allergy and the host was (with advanced notification) cater to my diet. I was able to try so many new to me foods. It was like dinner and entertainment. Our host regaled us with Irish history and his own family history. He brought some historical objects to share with us. We had a drink pairing with each course. The food was delicious and huge portions even though it was a tasting. I would absolutely do this again. 10 out of 10.

Authentic Irish Experience with a knowledgeable local guide. We tasted 10 different cuisines paired with drinks/whiskey/beer/cider and finished with amazing Irish coffees and desserts.

Amazing experience for anyone who looks for something really special and totally different to what’s on offer anywhere else. The menu consists of 10 traditional Irish dishes, paired with Irish whiskey, lager and cider. And you also get history of each dish explained by a lovely host. It was a very enjoyable lunch for the whole family and although on Viator you can only book it as for adults we booked it for 2 adults and 2 children and would really recommend for any family as children also enjoyed it ( alcohol can be swapped for any soft drinks). And as for the price - worth every penny as food was exquisite!

It is traditional Irish Food from the early 1940s. Frank was very knowledgeable about Irish history and food. He shared Irish songs and showed various coins from Ireland’s history. There was 2 or 3 samples from each course with an alcoholic beverage to complete each course. The food was delicious. I would give it a 10/10.

After touring Ireland for 14 days, we thought we had tasted everything the country had to offer. But to our surprise, "The Traditional Irish Food Experience" proved us wrong. We truly enjoyed fine Irish dining at its' best in a setting that was frozen in time! Frank passionately shared his knowledge and the history of traditional Irish dishes as told to him by his father. Wonderful intro to Traditional Irish Grub

Frank is passionate about Irish food and history. Each course arrived after a enlightening explanations of the dishes to come and where many of the ingredients were sourced from in Ireland. They were paired with local libations and also traditional song. We really enjoyed the whole experience. Sharing a pint after with Frank at a local pub was fun too!

At first it seemed a little intimidating because of the size of the menu and the tour is actually very personalized to small groups, it was just my girlfriend and I. Frank is so personable that the worry was immediately gone. Although the menu does seem overwhelming the portions are actually perfect size, but come on an empty stomach. The food was delicious. You get to try traditional Irish food that really isn't available in the modern cuisine and Frank ties it all in with history of the dish and personal stories attached to certain dishes. It's a history lesson and food experience all in one. I was a little apprehensive about the black pudding knowing it was blood sausage but it was so flavorful, it was actually one of my favorite items on the menu The alcoholic drinks were also great. My favorite was the Irish coffee it was so good it put others I previously had to shame. If you want great food tied together with history by an outstanding host then you can't miss this experience. Frank mentioned brining this to the States and if he does I'll defintely have my ticket.

If this was a competition for the food and entertainment Olympics, this would be a 10! Our host was fabulous. He really brought Irish culture and food history alive. And his singing of the Irish National Anthem was lovely and a special touch! Recommend highly!!

Something Really Special

We have done a few “taste of” tours before; walk a lot, eat a little, along the way listening to interesting, sometimes riveting stories told by the tour guide. But this was a step above even the best of our previous experiences. First, this was not a walking tour… this was a sit down meal of Authentic Irish Cuisine. The chef at Gallagher’s Boxty House prepared and array of tasty treasures. But. What made this exceptional was our host (tour guide) Frank. You see Frank has a passion for spreading the magic of Irish heritage. He knows the back stories on each dish and each beverage. He sang to the table. He told us about himself in an endearing, not overbearing way. If you really want a special afternoon experience… Do This! Oh, by the way, people who say “ who goes to Ireland for the food?” Has never tasted authentic Irish Cuisine!
