Itinerary
Start your sandboarding experience with a pickup from your central Dubai hotel. Settle into your air-conditioned 4x4, and check out the views as you leave the city for the desert.
Watch the landscapes gradually turn hilly, and drive to some of the most beautiful dunes in the Dubai desert. After a safety briefing, grab a supplied sandboard and get instructions on how to position your feet and steer.
Climb a dune, strap the sandboard to your feet, and slide down the sands. Although the sport is similar to snowboarding, it’s easier to learn, so most people pick it up very quickly.
Slip and skid down the sands, and when you feel confident, stage a race with your fellow sandboarders.
Afterward, return to your Dubai hotel in your 4x4 where your experience finishes.
Visit to Al Qudra Lakes, Light refreshment (coffee, water, soft drink) and Arabian Oryx (Feeding Station) Photo Stop are included.

- Not wheelchair accessible

- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- Pickup will be in a Private 4x4 Land Cruiser with up to 5 people per land Cruiser
- Dress code: lightweight summer clothing is suitable for most of the year, but sweaters or jackets may be needed for the winter months, especially in the evenings. Good quality sunglasses are advised. Hats are advisable when in direct sunlight.
- Guests visiting the UAE during the Summer months (June – September) are advised that peak daytime temperatures sometimes reach 42 – 45 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels can also exceed 90 percent during this period. We recommend all our guests to take adequate precaution.
- The Dubai desert can get cooler in the evenings during winter, so we recommend you bring a light jacket and closed shoes. Please wear sports shoes for safe sand boarding.
- Meeting Arabian Oryx is not guaranteed (there is a low probability that Arabian Oryx will not available at the feeding station)
- Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required
- The local tour operator reserves the right to cancel any part of the scheduled programs because of government decisions, public holidays, weather conditions, or other similar circumstances.
- The duration of the actual tour takes 4 – 4.5 hour but the driving time from Dubai hotel and return may take another 60 – 90 minutes depending on traffic conditions and time of day.

The provider was great friendly and prompt but it was so hot admittedly we were there at the hottest time of the year. we only went down once as the walk back up the dunes nd the heat took 30 mins would be nice of we could go down and were picked up at the bottom

This is the perfect tour if you're wanting to try sandboarding. It is great fun but exhausting having to walk back up the dunes carrying your board after each turn. Our guide was friendly and informative and we enjoyed the dune bashing experience (and felt safe!) too.

Tour is focused on Sandboarding and short 4x4 Dune Safari. For those who don't have much time to see the dunes and do mostly Sandboarding, this will be the perfect one! very friendly and proffesional tour guide is guaranteed.

The equipment's are for snowboarding i.e. you just can't get the straps tight enough to control the board take your biggest shoes with you and also one of them was broken! Walking up the dynes is a good exercise! Well, you'll get nice pics - been there done that!

We really enjoyed the tour, however you will need to be physically fit to do this as once you slide down the dunes you have to climb back up again. Great Adrenaline rush definitely something to try once.

we loved the tour and it was great if you wanted to get out into the desert for just sandboarding and none of the other stuff such as camel riding. Driver was friendly and helpful. we had a brilliant time it's just the getting back up the sand dunes which is hard work.

It was good we were only with the 2 of us and a guide/driver. The guide picked us up at our hotel in time and we had a nice ride into the desert with some touristic information. The sandboarding was quite a dissapointment since you have to walk all the way up the sandy dunes, which is very very heavy. Therefor you only sandboard downhill for 1-2 times, because it's just to heavy and hot. We were ready sandboarding in max. 30 min. and drove back to Dubai, whereas the entire trip should have lasted several hours. I find it quite expensive for the experience and would 've appriciated honest information on this trip.

We left our hotel early, at 7 a.m., but at least we avoided the morning rush. It takes about 1 hour to get to the site, because of the early departure, we were the first there. Also it wasn't hot.
Sandboarding is a fun activity. Depending on the group size, you have 3-4 turns on the board.
The tour includes some driving among the dunes. Sometimes you may think the car will turn over, but the drives are well-trained, they keep the car on its wheels : If you have motion sickness you get seasick, air-sick or car-sick, this part is not for you.
I recommend this if you spend only a short time in Dubai, but want to some outdoor activity. With an early start, you are free to do anything in the afternoon.
One tip: use the air-pump at the service station to clean your shoes, so you won't pour the desert sand everywhere for weeks.

This was billed as being a 4 hour 4x4 dune and sand boarding safari so we expected to be on the dunes for probably half of the time. In reality the 'dune bashing' was about 20 minutes, 10 minutes from a restaurant to a chosen dune for sand boarding and then 10 minutes back. The sand boarding was fun but the boards are old snowboards so the fastenings don't work with trainers. That part was however worthwhile and a new experience. The dune bit was a disappointment as we were probably not more than 500m away from the main road and therefore did not really get to experience the vastness of the dunes away from civilisation. 4 hours translates to a bit over 3 in reality 2 hours to get there and back so disappointing and could have been so much better if it wasn't so staged.
It felt like the driver does it a couple of times a day and it is just a conveyor belt operation, same route, same tacky restaurant, same sand dune, despite the huge space available the dune we used was covered in previous tyre tracks.

The driver was excellent - courteous and very friendly.
The sandboarding was disappointing. As a good snowboarder, I was disappointed with the speed you could reach and also the hike back up to the top of the hill was tiring.
The dune bashing was OK but nothing special.
A long way to go for what it was, would be OK if you were interested in doing this at the start of the day and follow it with other activities.

The service provider was good. Private driver arrived on time, comfortable drive to the desert, cold drinks in the car. However the experience of sandboarding I would not recommend. For someone who snowboards and kite surfs this was a real let down. One can only glide straight down a sand dune very very slowly! The sand dune being very small made the descent very short and having to climb back up the sand dune in the desert sun did not help the situation. For those who have tried any gliding activity I would recommend avoiding this one.

It certainly is worth doing and good fun coming down however it's not for those of an unfit nature walking back up a steep sand dune is not easy. Our guide was good at insuring we remained hydrated by offering us water every time we made it back up to the top, but even so we needed a good few minutes to get our breath once up. A couple of tips: you don't need to buy any head scarves or any other souvenir paraphernalia from the shop you first start at, however I would recommend long socks or strong boots. The reason being that the board uses typical snowboard bindings designed for a boot and as such won't do up tightly on anything else. The net result being if when you fall over the back of the binding scraps the back of your leg as it's not fixed securely.

Unfortunately our pre booked trip starting at a civilized 9 am was changed to 8.15am the day before, so OK, was expecting just us 4 in vehicle but another couple was already in the vehicle when we picked up, no real problem.
Trip out and onto dunes was good, thought driver was going to blow up engine :-) but guess that's part of it, sand boarding was fun everyone had as much time as they wanted. Overall the trip lasted just over the 3 hours, which to be honest was enough. Would recommend as overall was a good experience.

The boarding is fun and the guide was also very good. However, the walk back up is very tiering and therefore need very good physical staminor to last 3hrs.
This activity needs to be combined with another to make it worthwhile. We managed 1hr and then decided to leave.

Not value for money. We were picked up from hotel at 7.30am, drove for 90mins to the dessert where the driver spent 5mins driving around the sand dunes. Sand-boarding great but so tiring walking back up the dune in 35c heat only did it 3 times. Spent another 90mins driving back to hotel for 11am
