Overview
This night hike is a wonderful way to explore Nativos Corcovado in Drake Bay. You and your guide and small group (no more than 6) will venture out on the family farm, Rio Agujitas, which is located just 15km from the beach, to explore the forests. You’ll get a chance to look for nocturnal animals like frogs, snakes, kinkalou and perhaps an ocelot or puma and tapir!
- Hotel transfer can be arranged in Drake Bay
- Guide will accompany you to point out all the creatures
- This is about a 3 hour tour from 6:30-9:30pm

Eric was a great guide. We saw many snakes, frogs including the red eye tree frog, cane toad, glass frog. Many spiders including a very large tarantula, wolf spiders, fishing spider. Stick bugs, praying mantis, Jesus Lizzards, King Fisher birds, blue river shrimp.
We wore rubber boots provided by the tour company. You’ll walk through shallow river water. Wear pants to tuck into the boots or they will rub your legs and cause blisters. Each participant is given a bright hand held flashlight to use on the tour.

It is not mentioned in the description that most of the tour, you walk in a river where the water comes up higher than your knees, the rubber boots did not help me, also the soil was so stirred as others walked and it was hard to see through the water, that felt unsafe, since we saw several snakes this is an area that are poisonous waiting on the rocks to eat frogs. I felt like I had to look hard constantly, not being able to see well in the water like this. It is not described, that most of the time you walk in a river. The guide was very enthusiastic and friendly, pointed out several poisonous snakes, different spiders, different frogs, a scorpion, also saw some sleeping birds. The description should mention, also that there are many stairs on the way back that are steep and difficult for older people, I was fine but I felt bad for some of the people in our tour that where older really struggled there quite a bit. The description should mention more what the tour involves, so that you know what you get your family into at night.

I want to thank you for visiting our wilderness area, which my family and I have protected since 1926. Our area is difficult to access, and that's why it remains wild and protected.
The information is clear, and we also have many videos where you can see how to access our trails. Walking along the Water Trail and appreciating its beauty is, for many travelers, the best thing that has ever happened to them, and for others, not so much.
We try to please visitors with our natural surroundings.
Most of our visitors leave satisfied and tired from the last section of the trail, which has 50 steps. I remind you that this trail and area are just as difficult to access as San Pedrillo and Station Sirena, but with less human pollution and tourist saturation. Therefore, it is special and worth visiting.

If you’re looking for a genuine, small-group night hike on dirt trails made by tapirs and other wildlife, this is your experience. This is a rugged outdoor hike, crossing rivers at night on a former family plantation turned into a wildlife research station. You will get wet, muddy, sweat-soaked but come away feeling as if you did something very few get to experience. Our guide, Emilio, owns the former plantation and shows a very real love for the land and the plants and animals on it. We saw several species of basilisks, frogs, snakes and insects and followed the tracks of a tapir and its calf for several hundred meters. Throughout the evening, you will feel as if you found “wild” Costa Rica

What an amazing tour. I was surprised by the amount of animals we were able to see up close…vipers, frogs, spiders, a scorpion. It was an informative tour with lots of picture opportunities.
Just be aware that you will have wet feet, since you‘ll be walking through a river. But you quickly forget about that when you have the first viper right in front of you :).
