We booked this trip independently while visiting on a cruise this April, and it was excellent from start to finish. If you’re looking for a professional, intimate alternative to the crowded ship tours, this is it. It was just our family of four and the guide, which made the entire day feel significantly more personalized and relaxed than a standard tour.
The logistics were seamless. They provided prompt, stress-free transportation to and from the Starbucks near the terminal, which immediately put us at ease regarding our ship's departure time.
The snorkeling itself was superb, featuring two distinct sites with incredible clarity and vibrant marine life. While the tugboat wreck was a definite highlight, Director’s Bay was equally enjoyable. Our guide, Mats, was fantastic. He was great with the kids and went above and beyond by sharing local history, adding a wonderful layer of depth to the day.
For lunch, we enjoyed a simple but high-quality spread of fresh sandwiches, fruit, and cookies. We stopped at a local beach to eat, which was the perfect opportunity to relax and take in the scenery.
Overall, this was a perfect experience. Between the great value, the private feel, and the excellent service, I highly recommend this for any families looking to escape the crowds!

We had an amazing private snorkel tour yesterday at Tugboat Beach and Director's Bay. The water was so clear that it felt like swimming in a giant aquarium. We were lucky enough to see an octopus and several squid along with a scorpion fish and multiple eels. There were also plenty of blue tangs and parrot fish everywhere we looked. Our guide was fantastic and made the whole experience seamless. This is a must visit spot if you want to see incredible marine life in Curacao.

Evanna was a delight! She was friendly and knowledgeable about everywhere we went. She made sure all our equipment fit and that we were comfortable with it. Tugboat beach was amazing for all the fish and underwater sights. There was even a turtle. Directors bay was incredible for all the coral and fish. Saw a giant barracuda and a spotted eel. We were the only ones on this tour, so she made sure we got as much time as we wanted at each place. Lunch was a picnic with sandwiches and fruit. I can't say enough how much we enjoyed the day. Would highly recommend.

Promised lunch is sliced pineapple. We were thinking sandwich because they asked about food allergies. Transport vehicle is rusty and filthy.
We are glad that we brought our own equipment because the company equipment looked worn and dirty. Mats was helpful to drive us for an errand on the way back home.

Hi Mark,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I'm very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, though I'm glad to hear Mats was able to assist you and make part of your day a little easier.
We do our best to clearly communicate that we offer a light picnic-style lunch on the beach, which typically includes a sandwich and fresh fruit—it's meant to be a simple, refreshing snack during the activity rather than a full meal.
Regarding the vehicle, it is a 2019 model and regularly maintained, but the island's salty and humid climate does lead to quicker cosmetic wear, especially being so close to the ocean every day.
As for the equipment, we use high-quality gear including Scubapro masks and boots, and TUSA fins—specifically designed for diving to provide better performance than standard snorkel fins. All our gear is cleaned and checked regularly to ensure it meets safety and hygiene standards.
We understand the ocean conditions weren’t ideal on the day of your tour, and we completely respect your decision to stay out of the water. Weather and wave conditions can vary, and guest safety and comfort are always our top priorities.
We appreciate your feedback—it helps us improve and serve our future guests better. Wishing you all the best in your travels.
Warm regards,
Carolina

We happened to be the only ones on the tour. Staff very kind, patient and helpful during the entire tour. Very knowledgeable about the area. Wonderful snorkeling to see the sunken tug boat, fish, coral and reefs. I would highly suggest this tour to others. Very well organized and great picnic on the water. Thanks again!!!!

We had a fabulous time snorkeling with Ivanna!
It just so happened that we were the only guests that day and we had already snorkeled at one of the planned spots so Ivanna quickly pivoted and came up with a cool alternate location. It was like having a local friend who knew all the best spots and also had access to a wide array of appropriately sized gear. We saw lots of coral, fish, but it was also just a very chill experience, which was a big change from most snorkeling trips which tend to be much more regimented..

Our guide Emma was wonderful, and so was the snorkeling. But there were issues. We were two people booking a snorkel excursion. We were paired with a family of 6, 3 of which were snorkelers, 3 of which were divers. Our first stop was wonderful, and a very leisurely, long snorkel. Got out of the water at 10:45, and were told the divers would be out in a few minutes and we would move on to the next snorkel spot. We waited, and waited. They finally came out and got their equipment in the truck. It's now almost 11:30. Then they had a private photographer there to take their photos, so they all go back to the beach for a photo shoot, then they have to look at the pictures and choose which ones they want. It was noon before they were finished, so we waited an hour and a quarter for them. Had we been told the truth that it would be that long, we could have gone to the restaurant there, ordered a beer, relaxed (but even if we had been told, our money was all in a locker at the dive shop....) Instead we had a cup of warm water and cookies and waited, and waited, and waited. Second stop was a picnic lunch, and great snorkeling again. Waited for the divers again after the second stop, but it was only about 20-25 minutes that time. The snorkel stops of Tugboat and Directors bay were fantastic, but I don't think I'd book with this company again.

Hi Sally,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the snorkeling itself and that Emma made a positive impression—she truly loves what she does and will be glad to hear your kind words.
We’re truly sorry for the frustration you felt with the wait times between stops. We understand how valuable your time is, and we do our best to balance mixed groups by coordinating lunch during the divers’ surface interval to minimize any downtime. That said, it’s clear that this coordination didn’t work well for you on this occasion, especially with the unexpected delay caused by the photographer session.
The photographer is available for all guests to use if they wish, but we understand that not everyone is interested, and we regret that this added to your wait. Your feedback is incredibly helpful, and based on experiences like yours, we are actively reconsidering how we group snorkelers and divers in the future to ensure a smoother, more enjoyable flow for everyone.
Thank you again for your honest feedback—it helps us grow and improve. We're glad you enjoyed the snorkeling at Tugboat and Director’s Bay, and we wish you many more amazing adventures ahead.
Warm regards,
Carolina

Good snorkeling made better by a great crew. Emma and Mats took great care of everyone. Kinda different going into the water next to a massive drilling rig, but the dive to the submerged tugboat was worth it. I hope to get back here!

Very friendly and informative tour guides (ours was Juan). We saw a large variety of fish off the shores of two very different beaches. It was the two of us and two other participants from a cruise ship. The small size of the group helped us make new friends quickly. Transportation to & from our hotel was extremely helpful since driving in Curacao isn't as easy as it seems. Juan lead us out of the sunken tugboat and was very patient with all of us. Our ages in the group ranged from 46 to 76 so his patience was much appreciated. We got to meet the fearless shop cat, Gordo, and he was just as friendly as everyone else we met. After we finished up with snorkeling we stopped and enjoyed a simple meal of sandwiches, chips, fruit, and drinks right beside Caracas Bay. Get out in the water and enjoy! You'll be glad you chose to go with this small but we'll organized tour company!

Right from the Booking everybody we dealt with was friendly and professional. This is one of the dive companies on the island. Before the tour we had several communications ensuring the proper time and pickup location right near the ship. Caroline from the office made this pain free. Hugo was early to our pickup point and our family of 4 was off on a day of fun. We were driven to the dive shop and outfitted with equipment. Hugo than drove us to two separate areas where we snorkeled with him providing all instruction, adjusting equipment and pointing out great things to see. We had one person completely new to this and he helped her as needed. He also provided tips to the rest of us which made it even better. His expertise made everyone's experience wonderful. Hugo provided snacks, fruit, sandwiches and the best attitude ensuring all had a good time. We absolutely loved this trip and having it so personal added to the fun. We will definitely use this company again on our next trip here in about two months. Loved it!!!!!

We booked an excursion with Scubacao last February on our Caribbean cruise to snorkel at the Tugboat beach and Director's bay. We had an excellent time! The provided equipment worked well, and Scubacao provided some lockers to hold our belongings while we were out on the snorkel. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable and happily answered all our questions. There was an immense amount of sea life compared to other snorkels I'd done in the past. This was one of the top highlights of our trip. I would highly recommend snorkeling at Tugboat beach and Director's Bay, especially with Scubacao.

Jillian was absolutely awesome! She took us out and we had a wonderful experience. Snorkeling in Curaco is outstanding the 🪸 and fish were amazing and our guide was too. The picnic lunch on a locals beach was great as well. The trip was well worth every penny. Jillian was also very knowledgeable about the island, culture and history which made it even better!
Stephanie_N, May 2024
We had a prearranged meeting spot and time and it was easy to find and they were on time and very nice. When we got to their building they took the time to explain and get everything we needed and all the other staff was friendly and helpful.
They took us to the sunken ship location first and there was an underwater photographer there who offered her services while we snorkeled. After we snorkeled there for a while we went to the 2nd location. Each location offered a variety of underwater life. They were both incredible!! When we were done snorkeling we went to a small beach and they had a picnic lunch packed for us. We got back in plenty of time to shop before we had to get back to the cruise ship.
Our guide was fun, friendly, and knowledgeable. We had a great time talking to him and learning about the island. We had our two kids with us (age 13 & 10) and they had 0 experience snorkeling and he made it wonderful for them as well. We had an excellent experience and will definitely recommend them to anyone!

We had an AMAZING time with Vivie(sp), she shared with us all the history of Curaçao and took us to 2 beautiful spots where we saw lots of beautiful fish and coral. The lunch provided after was really good and just what we needed, I highly recommend Scubaçao!!!!! Also, JP was very friendly, they both were!’

The guide Quincy is very knowledgeable and does a great job. Very friendly and helpful whether you are a first timer or experienced.
Diedre_D, Apr 2024
We were lucky to have Jillian all to ourselves on our afternoon trip. We went to the tugboat wreck and had great underwater pics taken by their photographer. Of course we purchased them!
On to the next stop near Directors Bay (?), so many different fish and coral to see. She then had a lunch for us and drove us back to our hotel. Would definitely recommend this trip. Was the perfect amount of time for us!
Maria_L, Apr 2024
That was awesome! Both sites were great, one for the fish and the other for the corals. Quincy our guide was very nice and knowledgeable, very helpful! Water, lunch and snack was just what we needed.
Ronald_A, Apr 2024
This was an awesome experience and our guide provided everything necessary. Our main issue was the pick-up point from the pier in Curacao. If Starbucks is the standard pickup point, this needs to be communicated by both Viator and the vendor. Time was wasted for both parties. I requested pictures/videos from the vendor but have not received them but will contact them again. For travelers looking for a great way to snorkel, book with this family owned vendor.
Dan_M, Apr 2024
Our guide, Juan, was excellent and the snorkeling at Tug Boat Beach was great, but the underwater photographer was an unnecessary waste of time & money. Water was too rough at 2nd stop, Discovery Cove. But overall liked the intimacy of this trip with just 5 people instead of a big cruise excursion.
Jason_L, Mar 2024
The staff at Scubacao are amazing, I cannot say enough good things about them. From constant and quick communication, to assistance while we were there. They even arranged for us to head back to our cruise port early after we were done for the day.
The two snorkel spots are very nice, although I recommend using their boots and fins or bringing fins that require boots as the two shore areas are very rocky and tough on the feet.
Our tour was longer than 4.5 hours as we were waiting for scuba divers. Just keep in mind it’s closer to 5.5 hours. A bit long in my opinion but that’s also because my family and I aren’t sit around and soak up the sun people. We just like to snorkel and get out.
Scubacao is amazing, I highly recommend them and I hope to be back soon to dive with them.

This was an amazing trip with our guide, Quincy. He picked us up not far from the cruise ship and took us first to the dive shop to get gear, sign waivers, etc. If you bring a bunch of stuff with you you’ll put it in a locker there and leave the key with one of the staff. From there, we took a bumpy ride (only a problem if you have someone who gets carsick - not a criticism, just a heads up) to the first stop: Tugboat Bay. There, we saw a sunken tugboat and tons of large fish. We were there around 30 minutes. Then we got in the van and went to Director’s Bay. Getting in the water was a bit choppy with the water/waves but so worth it. We saw beautiful hard and soft coral and where the water drops off. It was so lush with coral - probably the most I’ve seen snorkeling. Quincy is a local and provided us with a lot of history and local information during our drives. We had two tweens who weren’t doing so well (one because we should have pumped with Dramamine for the drive and the other swallowed some salt water, making her give up). None of that was the fault of Quincy and he was so patient and kind with them. They both wanted to go back to the beach and Quincy helped them do that. After our time there, we drove to a little picnic area and had some sandwiches, chips, oranges, and drinks (iced tea, Cole, or water) - provided by Quincy. Then back to the dive shop to grab our things and then he dropped us off right at Gate 2 for the ship. We started at 0830 and were back to the ship around 1300.
Don’t hesitate to do this trip!

Tugboat site is fantastic! Scubacao staff is super friendly. They have all the equipment, water shoes, pool noodles if you’re not a good swimmer. Our teen daughter is now a snorkeling fan. We highly recommend this tour!
David_S, Mar 2024
We were taken via car to a beach where we swum/snorkeled to a sunken tugboat about 100 meters away. Second site was at Directors Bay where we snorkeled next to a steep drop-off. We had lunch after the swimming/snorkeling. The staff was great to our group of six.
Stacy_R, Feb 2024
Really enjoyed snorkeling around sunken tug boat, saw a variety of fish. At the second snorkeling spot, we saw lots of different coral that we haven’t seen before. Quincy and Anthony were both very friendly and helpful! Loved all the information Quincy provided about the island and it’s history.
Lisa_M, Feb 2024
The tour was exactly as described. Our guide Quinton was very friendly and helpful. We were in a small group of 6, only 4 of us snorkelling. We were taken to 2 amazing places off shore to snorkel. We had a nice lunch afterwards and were dropped back off at the ship. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to snorkel.

Thank you Jillian and Slyvia for a great excursion, you really made our trip so enjoyable.
I will definitely recommend your tour excursion company to other people.

Carolina and Quincy were great in providing wonderful snorkeling experience. Me and my wife don't know much to swim but Quincy was encouraging and amazing in making us snorkel while swimming and seeing amazing fish and beautiful coral. Quincy also took some pics and short videos with his GoPro and sent to us after snorkeling .He even took us to see the deep blue hole. We were taken to 2 spots for snorkeling. I would recommend anyone to go with Scubaco for snorkeling.
Joseph_C, Dec 2023
Snorkel experience was unique and the coral was in great condition, unlike other spots in the Caribbean. The staff was professional and good hearted, it was a pleasure spending time with them. Shuttle was on time and free. The shop has a free locker, with brave dive shop Cat to guard your valuables. Best wishes, Joe & Ming

Our tour guide was very nice. The snorkeling sites were excellent. Got to see lots of different sea life and coral.
