I had a bad experience on this tour. Firstly the guide sent a WhatsApp message with wrong starting address. When we reached the location, it was a parking lot of another place. We had to call him and walk for a while to find him. During the tour he barely spoke correct English and we struggled with understanding him. There were a total of 5/6 random buildings of which he spoke about the history. There was another couple who were French so he spoke mostly during the one and a half hour in French to them.
Secondly the tour is deceptive in how it is advertised. It says 2 hours. So we booked the tickets for 10:00 am and planned a departure from colmar at 1pm. We made the bookings 5 days in advance. When the walking tour finished around 11:30 am, the guide shared with us a QR code for the boat ride and asked us to go to the boat ride counter and disappeared himself. When we reached the counter, the guy asked us if we speak English and when we said yes, he said that our turn on the boat ride will come at 1:30pm. We told him that we are leaving collar by 1pm so we can’t wait till 1:30 pm and that the tour is advertised as 2 hours so we took tickets for 10:00 am. He said that we should have bought the tickets from his company and not on Internet as our tickets had got booked with them only yesterday (even though we had purchased them 5 days ago). He said that the next boat is at 11:40 but we are not on it and if we want refund, he will return only €10 even though the tour is sold for €50 per person on this website. Overall a total waste of time, money and energy. Really bad experience.

There were 2 meeting places listed on the voucher. We were at the first meeting spot listed and no one was there. We called the emergency number and no one answered. We left a message and no one reached out. We never found the guide according to their meeting spot description and GPS link.

The address given to meet is not accurate. The boat tour can provide correct address which is a 15 minute walk into the city. This was very frustrating and how our experience began. Tour guide was knowledge, good English but challenging to understand at times given he speaks so fast with a strong accent.

The two-hour walking tour with Maverick was excellent. He had great narration, history and information about the area we were walking. After the tour he handed us off to the boat ride in “little Venice” and that too was great. Our boat operator also provided great narration of our tour and the history of the little Venice area of Basel.

THE TOUR WAS MADE GREAT BY THE BOAT/CRUISE OPERATORS! We also had a great guide for the walking tour, which was interesting and informative - we got a clear sense of Alsace people and history. Finding where to start the canal cruise was an epic adventure. We were told by the guide we would be fetched by someone if we waited in front of the sign for the cruise on a bridge. Nope. When we got to the canal cruise (up and around the corner, then down), we learned there was no room; this is an ongoing issue; as is cruise tickets being booked in French when the walking tour is in English. ONLY THANKS TO THE AMAZING BOAT GUYS’ KINDNESS DID THEY SQUEEZE US ON OVER THE LAST FEW CRUISES OF THE DAY. Big shoutout to the boat cruise company BUT the seller of this tour needs to smarten up and be way better organized!

Our guide had great stories to share about the history, architecture, and life in Colmar. There was a mixup with the meeting point, which was not the guides fault and I'll report om thst separately.

The Viator provided meeting point on their app was for the boat ride, not the walking tour. I did find out the correct address was sent in a text, but it didn't go through until after I arrived back in Germany. Not Viator's fault, just a heads up. Luckily our tour guide, Maverick, took it upon himself to come to us and start the tour where we were. Much appreciated 😀 Maverick had such great energy and clearly loves Colmar. We went on the 10am tour during Easter week and it was a great overview of the town, showing us the history and stories, and letting us know areas for further exploration after the 1.5 hour tour. The boat ride, through Viator but with a separate company, was quite nice. Highly recommend for all!

Unfortunately, the boat trip was canceled, and despite assurances, we were not refunded the amount for the boat. It was also difficult that the tour was bilingual and therefore took too long at the individual points.
