Martin took us to all of the lovely sites at Chichen Itza explaining how buildings were used, the culture, and the history of the Maya who built the magnificent spaces. He was ready to answer any questions we had along the way.

We did a private tour with Carlos from LakinTours, and it was one of the highlights of our entire trip. We felt very well taken care of throughout the process:
- a day before our tour, we got detailed guides on how to get to the parking lot and not get scammed by unaffiliated vendors at the entrance. The meeting point with Carlos was also called out clearly with picture.
- during the tour, Carlos has a very good itinerary of which places to take photos, which places to get up close and see important structural details, and which place to sit down for rest. Because of that, we got a ton of information without feeling overwhelmed, and we got great pics! We did Ek Balam the prior day without a guide and we felt absolutely wiped after it, but this tour makes us feel energized and inspired instead. Carlos is great at explaining things in English in understandable terms, and he has great photos to share (including some of his beautiful family photos!)
- Carlos also gave us great tip on which cenote we should hit up afterwards, and his recommendation is top notch. We had a great time there.
Overall, we highly recommend this tour!

Our whole family really enjoyed our tour with Enrique! He was very knowledgeable and engaging. He had extra visuals to share the history and add context. We had a mix of ages from tweens to grandparents and everyone was so glad we got to do this tour. The company also provided really clear directions and arranged for our tickets. I would highly recommend this tour and would absolutely book them again.

We booked a private tour of Chichen Itza for 2 people and it was a highlight of our weekend! Our point of contact, Maria, also arranged transportation from our hotel in Merida to Chichen Itza for an additional fee. She was responsive, accommodating, and an excellent go-between.
The tour guide, Martin, was an amazing and engaging storyteller who answered questions and shared detailed explanations of the ruins, the history, and the people at every step of the 2 hour tour. He is a federally licensed guide who guides in English, Spanish, and French with 10 years of experience and was the best tour guide you could have asked for and we highly recommend him to any travelers visiting Chichen Itza.
Our driver Pablo was polite, timely, and drove us safely to and from Chichen Itza. He was an excellent driver, kept a clean and safe car, and we would also recommend his services to anyone looking for transportation in Merida.
The tour is more expensive than others on Viator but it is totally worth it. You get what you pay for — experienced, hard working, and quality guides and drivers.
The tour also departs earlier than most, and that is also totally worth it. We were one of the first 10 cars in line, first to enter, and experienced aspects of Chichen Itza that you can’t enjoy easily later because of the noisy crowds once the Cancun tour buses arrive at 10am.

Rey was great. He wove his Mayan heritage and knowledge to the tour to highlight different historical perspectives of the history of Chichen itza. We appreciated his grand view of the culture… comparing and contrasting different mesoamerican cultures like Aztec from a mythological and linguistic standpoint.

We went to Chichen Itza and it was a beautiful experience with our guide Henry was very attentive. Patient explained a lot of the history of the Maya civilization also gave me a inside look into his private families saying and culture because he was a Mayan descendent. Henry speaks Spanish,English and the Mayan language.

Choosing a guide instead of a packaged tour was a great choice. By doing this we were able to get a close take of the site on our time. Getting transport there was also easy with a line from Viator's transport arrangement to be sure and safe

We were fortunate to have Henry as our guide, and he was fantastic! He had a great knowledge of Mayan culture as a Mayan descendent, and he used this to share not only the archeological story, but also the oral history! He took his time and made sure we were able to see everything, while being mindful of the heat and taking advantage of shade to keep us cool and ale sure we drank our water! I would definitely recommend the 8:00 tour to avoid heat and crowds. A wonderful experience!

Enrique was fabulous! Knowledgeable and passionate about the area. Answered all of our questions in depth!
Watch out for vendors trying to stop you before you get to the main gate. They wave their hand like you need to stop but keep moving slowly until the main lot past the gate.

My friends and I booked this private tour of Chichen Itza for 8AM. We were so pleasantly surprised, and grateful, for this tour experience. I've found that tour guides can sometimes insert a lot of theatrics into tours to appease tourists - I am SO happy that this was not our experience. We drove ourselves to the site (highly recommended to avoid the enormous tour bus crowds). Once we arrived, Enrique greeted us warmly and started our tour promptly. Enrique was phenomenal - factual, honest, and extremely knowledgeable about the history behind this remarkable city. One of the biggest benefits to a private tour is that the guide is able to be personal in their interaction with you, your questions, and your time. My friends and I are multilingual but for those who are only English speakers, rest assured that Enrique is fluent in English and speaks effortlessly.

Our guide, Francisco, was excellent. He met us right at the entrance and prepared us for the ticketing process. We were with the first 25 people through the gate. He explained the history and cultural significance of each of the ruins, using his iPad to show details of the carvings and representations of the site during its heyday. Francisco was kind and friendly always making sure we were staying cool and rested. He was a delight and made our experience fulfilling.
Pro Tip- go early, right at opening. There was a 2 km back-up as we were leaving.

We had such a good time we did the morning tour which I highly recommend, yes we had to wake up early but we avoided the crowds and the soaring sun.
We booked the 3 hour tour I think the 2 or 3 are both good options I think you can see everything in the 2hr but the 3hrs gave us a more relaxed feel.
Gabriel was friendly and knowledgeable, he made this experience one to remember. He was kind and accommodating, he knows all the good pictures spots too! We appreciated the service and great communication! Definitely recommend

I got all info and great tips early the morning of on WhatsApp, was really affordable for a private tour and highly recommend it. What made the tour though was Martin our guide. He was friendly and easygoing, thoroughly explained everything. He added a personal touch and taught us some mayan sayings. He just generally made the tour more enjoyable while being informative!

Traveled with our kids aged 13 and 11. We got so much more out of our visit to Chichen Itza with our wonderful tour guide, Maria, than we would have on our own. Maria was excellent and super prepared with photos to explain different things about ancient Mayan culture and history. She really put all of the incredible sights into context and was great at answering questions and keeping us engaged.
The tour was very well organized and they reached out in advance to give us detailed directions and tips.
Tips: Definitely book first thing (8am) to avoid crowds and heat. We were done by about 11am. Hats/umbrellas and sunscreen are a must. If you're traveling from Quintana Roo (Tulum, Cancun), note that Chichen Itza is in a different time zone! This actually worked out well for us, because we had to get up early to make our 8am booking, but not quite as early as we would have if it was in the same time zone. There were no problems or tolls driving from Tulum, but watch out for the speed bumps and perros callejeros. :)
