Overview

Samaria Gorge, Crete's longest gorge, extends for around 10 miles (16 kilometers). As it's a 1-way hike, a tour is your only practical option for exploring it. This private door-to-door transfer service lets you walk and have lunch at your own pace. After your driver drops you at the head of the gorge, hike to Agia Roumeli Beach, then catch the ferry (own expense) to Chora Sfakion for pickup.

Fantastic experience. Our driver arrived on time and was extremely professional and nice. We arrived right as the gorge opened and avoided the buses and crowds. We were picked up after the hike in Sfakia (note: admission to the park and ferry tickets are not included - make sure you book ferry tickets) and promptly returned to our Airbnb.

Made our gorge hike easy

Nikos, the owner, was very responsive ahead of trip. And our driver was puntual, professional, and friendly. The gorge itself is beautiful. It’s part of a national park so very well organized. If you’re a fast hiker (it’s about 10-12 miles downhill) consider starting a couple hours later in day (though consider the temperature that day, later start means warmer) and shave a couple hours off waiting for the ferry at 17:30. While waiting, have lunch at Calypso, which has great food and service.
