Samantha was a wonderful guide and host! She is incredibly sweet and knowledgeable about the biodiversity, birds, bugs, trees, the history of the country. She took us on a hike through the forest and we spotted 31 different species of birds. She calls to them and they answer her and one even followed us for a while!! We completed this tour with an authentic home cooked breakfast that was delicious with the most amazing view. She even can take photos through her scope and sent them to us! You must book this special tour!!

Samantha is a GEM! Nothing like this tour that I’ve found in CR. She was so informative about plants, birds, bugs, history—literally everything. The brunch at her family’s beautiful home was delectable.

It was a nice day to go birding, and the drive to the birding area was along a well maintained road. We saw loads of birds found in the hills above Uvita. And afterwards, the traditional breakfast was delicious, prepared by Samantha’s mother. Samanta’s knowledge of the birds, was very thorough, and she knew the names of all of the birds we heard, and she had very good hearing! She and her family have a long long history in the area, and we learned a lot about the community and the culture, as well.

Samantha is a wonderful birder and guide.. If you are able to get a hike with her, we encourage you to do so. We have been on many nature hikes/tours in Costa Rica. This stands out as one of the best because of the way she personalized the experience. We walked a property with a variety of habitats and trails and saw many species. Then she took us to her house nearby where we ate a home cooked breakfast and enjoyed a beautiful view. She even serenaded us on guitar with a lovely song she had composed herself. For us, this was a unique and memorable experience….the frosting on the cake!

So much More than Bird Watching!

Samantha far exceeded our expectations!!!she was incredibly knowledgeable about the local bird, spotting them in dense forest and doing bird calls. We are new to learning about birding and she was patient with our questions and explained things well. She also was very knowledgeable about plants, which is a love of mine and was a super bonus. We saw many species of birds that we wouldn't have without her good eye. Her mother made an excellent traditional Gallo pinto and coffee while Samantha suprised us with yet another excellent skill, singing and playing a song she wrote on the guitar while we ate. The view from their kitchen was wide open from the mountains looking at the Marino Ballena, Whale Tail. This was a gift to my partner and we loved it. Thank you Samantha!!!

A truly amazing 3 plus hours with Samantha. She is an outstanding guide who knows her stuff. We saw a large variety of birds, parrots, toucans, hummingbirds to name a few. The breakfast was delicious and topped off with a beautiful music performance!
