Not seeing whales makes what you pay for this excursion excessive. I understand it's not guaranteed, but them you should be charged less in that case.
We paid to sit in a boat, and on one beach which krabi is a beach so it didn't make sense to pay to do that.
Live and I learn.

We had a blast! The sights were beautiful, and even though we didn't see any whales that day, we saw lots of different types of dolphins, birds, and fish. The mid-trip break on the beach was also fantastic!

Humpback whales migrate to mate and give birth in the warm, shallow waters near our coast, so sightings can vary, but the wildlife here is always amazing. We’re happy you enjoyed the beach break too!

The staff and crew were courteous and professional. Unfortunately, we did not see any whales but not from a lack of effort from the crew. saw several dolphin and sea birds.

Very noice tour! Ericka was such a great tour guide! I didn’t see whales, but we saw lots and lots of dolphins. Had some snorkeling near the Whale Tale shore and stopped at a very beautiful beach.

Great experience! The guide and driver worked hard with other guides to find the whales, and we got to see a mom and baby up close many times! We also saw some sea caves and got to hear so much information about the wildlife of the area. The water was too cloudy for snorkeling but we enjoyed being dropped off at the whale tale after the tour to hike around and swim.

Saw whales, dolphins, a sea turtle, and snorkeled! The whole experience was so lovely to share with the boat drivers, guide (thank you Melanie!!) and excited tourists passionate about animals. Would highly recommend this company! They also had coffee and a sweet cake at their office for everyone where we met up to begin the tour. Worth every penny. What a delightful experience.

Honestly experiences like this come in two parts; the bit you can control (organisation) and the bit you can't (wildlife). We were lucky, as part 2 was amazing and we had the privilege of spending quite a bit of time with a humpback mother and calf as well as seeing some dolphins. A solid 5/5.
However, the whales arrived at the 11th hour and up to that point it was kind of average. Transport to the tour was a walk in the sun from shop to boat - a little tricky with a small kid. The guides had some knowledge, but not up to the standard we had come to expect elsewhere in Costa Rica. So 3/5.

Not well organized. Guides seemed uninterested and did not put in much effort. Saw no whales which is not the tours fault but even if we had I would not ever do this tour again.

Dolphins and snorkeling were the good parts. Whales however barely showed for a job. Was happy to see a tail. Maybe not the best season for them so it took some time to see a little. Overall we enjoyed this experience

Fantastic experience, great and attentive guide and the overall crew. They were very safety conscious so explained everything step by step, ensured that the people had everything they needed and also had a good time. Overall service and experience was great, we got to see a family of humpback whales and the guide also explained a lot of details throughout. They also provided water and fresh fruit, gave us time to swim and everything was perfect

The guide and boat captain were both great! We saw a humpback whale with her calf and a sea turtle. The conditions were not good for snorkeling but we stopped to enjoy some fresh fruit and a swim at a beautiful beach.

We saw many whales with their calves and some were really close to the boat. Our guide Jennifer explained many interesting facts about the whales. I loved the idea of respecting the animals and their habitat like guests. It was a perfect tour and absolutely worth the price!

Not a tour that is accessible for people with mobility challenges or physical disabilities. I have MS and brought a 6 year old with a disability. We had to walk very far to board the boat and nobody even told us what to expect or asked if we needed accomodation. We almost were left behind because the group walked much faster and there were people and boats everywhere so we had no idea even which way the group went.

First of all we had a great guide and a great captain. The trip was above expectations as we managed to see whales. The one consideration that I would have is a little more time with the whales, despite that the swim and the site seeing were also cool.

Very good communication before the trip and well organised during. Very friendly and knowledgeable guide and lovely crew. very big on safety during the trip.
Fun boat ride as it is quite fast at times. We saw two whales and their babies who hung around for quite a long time. we were then taken to a beach to swim and be shown how to crack coconuts and were given pineapple to eat.
Parking and the entry to the park is free so you know that once you have paid everything is included. Would definitely recommend.

We had a bunch ob bad luck that wasnt the tour company‘s fault. Yet we feel the company could have done better.
We saw a mother humpback with her calf but only very shortly and far away. We didnt understand why our boat kept staying quite behind the other boats, which ended up getting better views.
Then some people on our boat were not feeling well and we returned to shore earlier. Instead of helping us see the whales, the guide had to assist sick people. I‘m sure people get sick all the time on these boats so there should be some kind of plan for that, like a different person taking care of them.
We didnt get to se the caves, no walk along the shore of the national park, no swimming, no snorkeling.
I understand that different parts of the tour depend on weather (such as snorkeling) and if people get sick its nobodies fault. Yet booking a tour with different components, supposedly lasting 3-4 hours and then end up getting a two our tour driving out to sea, staying far away from the whales sightings and then driving back to shore was just extremely disappointing. Certainly not worth the price of the tour. There should have been some kind of alternative programme/plan and more explanations.

Didn’t see any animals, no dolphins, whales or turtles - simply nothing. The crew used the excuse that there were “too many boats in the sea” which was a joke as we were the only one! I understand that it is hard to spot whales if you’re towards end of the season, however turtles and dolphins usually stay around. The crew did not really do an effort to look around, their main goal was to bring us to a beach where we spend over 1hr to go swimming. Honestly for this I don’t need to go on a boat trip for whale watching and pay 90$ p.Pers.

This was well organized. Our tour guides were very enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable. We went at the end of whale watching season with small odds for seeing a whale and still saw a mom and baby humpback. We also saw dolphins. The beach was amazing and fruit delicious. It wasn't the best conditions for snorkeling but we still saw starfish, parroting and a few others. Highly recommend!

This tour was great! Very organized and the guide, Sebastian was very informative. We enjoyed fresh delicious pineapple while watching mother, baby and stepdad whales. On the way to the whales we saw lots of dolphins and some turtles and a sailfish flying out of the water! Wonderful tour!

Whether or not you get to see whales, the tour is a must do! We saw many animals including dolphins, but the overall experience was great. Snorkeling, fruit on the beach, swimming, and lots of fun. We spend a lot of time in Costa Rica each year, but still learned new things and saw new sites.
On a side note, please make sure to tip your guides and boat captain. We can’t believe how many people did not tip after such a great tour.

Unfortunately, there was not much whale watching. We spent maybe 30 minutes looking for whales and the rest of the time was spent snorkeling, visiting interesting rock formations, and eating a snack on the beach. I would have preferred to spend more time looking for whales (as the title suggests) than on the other activities.

This is a smaller size boat with an excellent, informative guide but restricted viewing due to passengers (and sometimes crew) standing up and blocking the view of other passengers. Every time a whale was spotted the boat was turned towards it and people at the front stood up blocking the view. Our seats were near the back facing inwards and the only time a whale was on our side, we were told to sit down. By the time we sat down (facing inwards) and twisted round, the boat had been turned towards it and we didn't even see that whale.

You may have to wait a while to get on the boat. As there are only 2 tractors to take boats across the beach to the sea. But was all good on boat. The knowledge Melanie had about the whales and Dolphins was amazing.
