Itinerary

Begin your day trip by climbing aboard an air-conditioned minivan in Cape Town. Your private guide for the day takes you along one of the country’s most scenic coastal drives—Chapman’s Peak Road—which you can enjoy from the comfort of the passenger seat. The road winds along a mountain, ocean waves pummeling the rocks below.

The first stop on your tour is the Cape of Good Hope Reserve. This expansive park is within the borders of Table Mountain National Park, and you’ll get out to explore on foot with your guide for a bit. Walk to the Cape Point lighthouse where you can see the ocean beating on the rocks again. Be on the lookout for wildlife, including antelope, ostrich, and lizards.

Back in the minivan, begin to make your way toward the Constantia Valley wine region, passing beautiful beach towns like Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek, and historic towns like Simon’s Town and St James. Make a brief detour at Boulders Beach, where a colony of African penguins makes their home. Head into the penguin reserve (own expense) to walk down the boardwalk all the way to the beach, or simply stroll the public walkways near the reserve to see the amusing birds.

The final stop of the day is at Groot Constantia winery, established in 1685. See the historic estate during a guided group tour, followed by a wine tasting session. Return by minivan to Cape Town with your guide.

We can highly recommend this tour. Comfortable ride in air conditioned car, with our most knowledgeable guide, Andrew. Stunning views, mixed with plenty of photo stops and walks at Cape of Good Hope. Penguins were superb, well worth a visit. A wonderful tour finishing up at Constantia winery. Five sample wines to chose from a list of many with generous servings. Delicious! A special mention for Andrew who was such an excellent guide, and put up with my two rather badly behaved daughters with very good humour.

Our tour was absolutely amazing! While all of the sites were spectacular, what really made the tour was our guide Ultrich. He was welcoming and explained all the areas we visited and answered our many questions. We really enjoyed the tour!

The Tour was amazing. The sights and wine where fantastic but the best thing was our tour guide Andrew..he was so friendly and his colourful stories really made the day....He was so helpful and dropped us off to Table Mountain even tough not on the itinerary. A day that will live long in the memory!

We had a great guide/driver called Eon, who from the outset made sure we had a 'tailor-made' experience. He found out our preferences and adapted the tour to suit. My Mum's mobility wasn't great and Eon looked after her so well, even staying with her while we went off taking photos and climbing hills! The drive is spectacular, with great views, we visited the attractive town of Simonstown and the Penguins of Boulders Beach, then on to Cape Point which was great, and lunch at the restaurant there - 'Two Oceans' - which was delicious Eon reserved a table for us. Finally we returned for an interesting tour of Groot Constantia Winery and a wine-tasting, which was pleasant enough. All in all, a great success, and worth paying extra for the private tour.

This was a fantastic tour. I would recommend it to anyone. Our guide, Gerhald, was excellent, providing a very informative and enjoyable day. As there was only the two of us, he even customised the tour a little to suit us, as he wanted to ensure we had a great time. And we did.

My wife and I were the only persons on this trip. Our driver-guide was excellent: steady driver, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable guide, but also someone who knew when to leave you space to enjoy the many amazing sights offerd by this trip. It was a beautiful morning when we set off from Cape Town, and as a wee bonus we went up Signal Hill, below the Lion's Head, for some phenomenal views all around, from Table Mountain round to Sea Point and out to Robben island. A sea-trip to view the seals in Houts Bay was good even if we were a bit overwhelmed by a large Chinese party also on board - luckily they were a bit overwhelmed in turn by the swell of the sea. On to an ostrich farm via Chapman's Peak Drive, from whence amazing views of Houts Bay. After entertaining the ostriches we made our way on to Cape Point, where quite apart from the amazing site itself, we had an excellent al fresco lunch well served by Kenneth as birds like starlings zoomed around us. We took in the Cape of Good Hope (not the same as Cape Point) before making our way round into False Bay and Simonstown, with its slumbering penguins lurking in the bush beside the board-walk. Then it was on to the lovely Groot Constantia, the oldest wine farm in the Cape. A good tour here, and some interesting wine varieties sampled. Then finally home to the door at the Underberg in Tamboerskloof, tired but exhilarated by an amazingly varied and enjoyable day, and a long-held ambition fulfilled.

Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know you had a fantastic time on your private tour. That's right, it is sometimes unbelievable to think you'll get an exclusive tour for the affordable rate charged. Now that's good value-for-money :) Hope to see you again soon to experience South Africa differently again with Hotspots2c's private tours. - Regards, Ferdi & team Hotspots2c
