We were told the ride to Tulum would take 1 hour and 45 minutes. In actuality, it took 3 hours. We were also told we would be at a rest stop after about an hour but I had to ask the driver to stop after 2 1/2 hours so that I could use the facilities. Most everyone else on the van needed to use the facilities as well. The van was poorly air-conditioned and my estimate is that it was about 80° inside. Adding to the problem is that, although the description says we will be well hydrated because water is provided, no water was provided during the 3-hour drive. Instead, we received one bottle of lukewarm water when we arrived at Tulum. Once there, we were led through the gift shop before the tour even began. Then, our guide walked with us for 45 minutes, and then gave us 1 hour of free time. All together, a disappointing experience. Definitely not what I was led to expect by the description.

This was a private tour for our family of four. We were picked up at our hotel and driven straight to the ruins. Our tour guide, Jose Manuel shared with us lots of information about the region while on our drive there. Once at the ruins, we toured a small museum and he shared more information about the Mayan people. His explanations on the different sites within the walls was very informative. We spent just the right amount of time able to explore and understand the importance of Tulum to the Mayan people.
