What To Expect

Meet a driver at your hotel in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, then travel to a trail riding base camp in the Baja desert (entrance fees to the trail riding area are not included). Start with a short safety briefing, then greet your horse for the day; this tour is a good fit for advanced and intermediate riders who feel confident on a horse, and have experience riding at all paces.

Follow the trail guide through a rugged mountain landscape until the path opens up on a pair of broad, flat beaches with breaking waves and cool sea breezes. You’ll have views down the Pacific coastline, and can speed along the edge of the ocean before looping back to the starting point.

Upon arrival at the trailhead, say goodbye to your horse, then meet the driver for the return trip to your hotel, where this tour concludes.

Hidden charges

It was a great family activity . However, there were several hidden charges. Ended costing up WAY more than we had planned. You don’t find out until you arrive. It was a 30 minute drive from our hotel RIU. They said it was $85 for 2 1/2 hours. That included travel time and waiting in line then they told us we couldn’t use our cell phones but if we paid each $35 more we could carry our cell phones on the ride to take our own pictures. We each had to pay an additional $25 fee when we arrived. We got our own pictures and they still wanted us to pay another $150 for the pictures that a lady Took on a four wheeler following us the whole time ruining our pictures. The helmets were hot and uncomfortable we were experienced riders but still had to wear them . Our guide was super nice and friendly. We just didn’t like all the hidden cost we had to pay. It ended up being extremely expensive for only riding for an hour.

We understand that some visitors may have a lot of experience in these types of tours, and we appreciate the passion of wanting to continue enjoying those activities even while away from home. That being said, for the safety of all our guests, the use of safety equipment is mandatory for everyone whether they are experienced riders or not. Regarding our photography service, it is completely optional if you wish to purchase it. Each tour has a trained team dedicated to taking photos of all our visitors. Desert/ beach horseback ride

Guide Bruno was wonderful, but the groups are not separated despite being marketed for intermediate/ advanced riders. We were able to canter a bit but large majority of the ride is walking on desert trails. Short time on beach and lots of four wheelers and dune buggies zipping around as well. Hate to say it, but definitely could have done the same thing for half the price. Also you aren’t allowed to bring anything but a go pro, so if you aren’t wanting to pay an arm and a leg for pictures, bring your gopro. Phones are not allowed

My wife and I were pIcked up at hotel on time (it’s rain or shine). They tried to up sell us for an additional $60 ea. (US) for private ride. No gracious. We did however have a private ride along the desert sands and beautiful coast in the rain. My wife is the advanced and me the intermediate. The horses were more than willing to turn it on when it was time- Spectacular beach run with quality photos along the way. Helmets are worn 100% of ride except static picture taking. $20 for one photo or $70-80 for all...forgot. Don’t forget the tip and your $20 entrance fee per person in addition to actual cost. My wife and I enjoyed the ride (even soaking wet).

The beach setting for this ride is lovely, one of the nicest beaches in the Cabo area. The horses in the stable were well cared for, saddled with large western saddles and ready to go. The cowboy assigned to my ride was friendly, attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable.His English was limited but adequate, rather like my Spanish. I was very much looking forward to the ride. BUT, it was not an intermediate or advanced ride. I was the only rider, and I am experienced. Despite this, we only walked for the entire two hours. I was disappointed since I had paid the extra money for the more advanced ride. It certainly was nicer having a private ride, but really, what's the point of presenting this as an advanced ride?

Would had gave it FIVE stars. But because ONE person in the group does not belong to advance /intermediate level, so she did not want to gallop, therefore the whole group who otherwise are advance level loose out on this opportunity! Too bad. The one person need to be beginner level. Wish they could have reinforce this to all who choose advance!
