The tour was very good, but it was by the city. However, for the ease of it all, it was worth it. I would recommend to save the hassle.
Kristen_W, Mar 2026
We loved seeing this beautiful theater. The guide was excellent. We even got to sit in box seats to watch a rehearsal of Swan Lake.
David_B, Mar 2026
A tour where the highlight was missing - the main theatre in darkness with no apology or discount
A huge disappointment - they were setting up for an event but couldn’t spare just 5 minutes to turn the lights on. Just churning through tour groups without really caring.

Must see attraction in BA. Great tour guide helped us learn all about the theatre and also understand more about life in BA. Most beautiful place.
Taryna_W, Jan 2026
What a beautiful building! So worth seeing. The guide was great at telling the stories and history of the building and we had an enjoyable time.
Carshon_R, Jan 2026
This is the most beautiful theater I have seen in my travels so far. I highly recommend taking a tour. My tour guide, Octavio, was wonderful and provided so many facts and history of the venue.
Tracey_W, Jan 2026
Excellent and efficient tour of this beautiful space. Kiara was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining.
Lisa_B, Jan 2026
Great tour in a truly stunning theater. If you want to catch the English tour, be sure to sign up ahead of time - tickets are harder to get. What is a special treat is being able to sit in a box seat and check out the view. So glad I attended the tour - it was a highlight.
Izzy_M, Jan 2026
The guide was not mic’d and the group was too large for hearing all the information. We did get to sit in exclusive boxes to view theater. Tour was just under one hour.
Kristina_H, Jan 2026
This tour is very informative, our time went by in a flash. You will be blown away by the architecture from 3 different architects. Read the details on where the entrance/ meeting point is for the start of the tour.
MarjorieA_S, Jan 2026
Very good tour, we were able to tour all the areas and the theater itself. Awesome experience, would do again.

Absolutely disgraceful how Viator handled this activity:
Booked and paid for 11:00 tour for two people Had to request entrance tickets from Viator and was then asked to switch to 1:00 a couple of hours before our departure fight from USA. Printed out ticket as instructed (1:30, not 1:00).
Arrived at Teatro and was told ticket good for only one entrance!!
I emailed Viator immediately and receive a response later on that the other ticket was sent via WhatsApp 3 hours prior to entrance time. Viator never told me that is how tickets would be delivered. Description clearly states it will be sent via email.
Fighting for refund now!

Book it early as the tours fill up quickly. You get an excellent tour of the meeting areas with a visit to a box overlooking the theater.

Good way to immerse into history and Argentinian culture. The guided tour in English was very helpful. Beautiful place and knowledgeable guide.
Malabika_G, Dec 2025
Nicely organized tour. Buy tkts there or ahead of time. English speaking guide was very good. Explained the history of the museum. We were lucky to see the Nutcracker rehearsal. Will recommend. Cute little cafe inside the facility.
JoAnn_B, Dec 2025
Viator must know that people who book through them are travelling and often don’t have good internet access. Despite 3 emails I never received my QR code so was not able to take tour. Ii arrived an hour early to see if someone at the Teatro Calon could help me. While staff at the Teatre Calon were courteous they could not help and no Vivatar representative was present. I am out US$170 as it is a non refundable purchase. Very disappointed in Vivatar. Have used before but will never use again.

Adrian was a well-informed guide on our tour of the Teatro de Colon in Buenos Aires. His English was excellent and he gave us the history and art influences that came into play when the Opera House was built 117 years ago. We walked through the 3 floors of the building, designed by 3 different architects. We also got to see an actual rehearsal of the Nutcracker Ballet on stage from the boxes in the audience and admire statues of famous European composers.
The only downside was a 2 year old child who was very tired during our 3:00 pm tour and screamed incessantly during a good part of it. (This tour is not really an activity to share with a toddler.)
All in all, my husband and I learned a lot about this magnificent cultural landmark that still showcases opera and ballet today.

It’s great to see the theatre but it’s definitely not worth what they charge.
It went for 45 minutes, and it felt like being at school. The group was big so hard to hear what they were saying.
Andrew_S, Feb 2025
It is a working theatre and rehearsals etc take priority over visits. That’s fine. But it can result in spending 20 minutes - one third of the tour - in a completely dark auditorium while technical sound and lighting checking were done. What we did see was quite interesting but not seeing the main room was disappointing. No visit back stage etc. so pretty thin.

Thank you for your review. The Teatro Colón is the main opera house in Buenos Aires. It is considered one of the ten best opera houses in the world and is acoustically considered to be amongst the five best concert venues in the world. We are very sorry that the theatre has not met all your expectations.

We will contact the Colón Theater to report your review, so they can see how to improve their services

The teatro colon is certainly quite impressive and worth a visit. Our guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. However, the group size was really quite large and the tour was under an hour. To my mind the price is very high for what is offered.
Response from Host, May 2025
I hope this message finds you well.
We sincerely appreciate your feedback on your recent guided tour of the Teatro Colón. We are pleased to hear that you found the theater impressive and our guide friendly and very knowledgeable.
We regret that you felt the tour duration and group size did not justify the price. Your opinion is important and we will take it into account to evaluate the value for money of our visits.

Marie_J, Jan 2025
One of the greatest architectural masterpieces in the world. Exceptional tour not to be missed. Be sure to make sure to obtain the actual tickets from Viator before arriving—digital ok!

A must be experience for all who want to experience the incredible elegance and style of Buenos Aires at the turn of the 20th century. It is a must see! Likened to the famous Garnier in Paris, it rises even higher in the music world as a supreme example of the meeting of architectural style and acoustics standing as one of the top opera houses in the world. A masterpiece!

Beautiful building and interesting tour. Not to be missed on your visit to Buenos Aires. Nice walking area around the theatre to explore with greenspace and shops.
Vic_H, Jan 2025
This was a little stressful since we anticipated that a viator representative would meet and get us started on the tour. We had to ask around and finally figured out that we were to join the standard tour. The location provided was close but not where the tour actually started.
Response from Host, May 2025

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are truly sorry that you encountered confusion at the start of your tour, and we apologize for the inconvenience caused.
To clarify the situation, we sent the confirmation of your booking several days before the tour date, which included your entry ticket and full itinerary details. Additionally, our operations department reconfirms the services, including the meeting point, to ensure everything is clear prior to the start of the excursion. We got our tickets right on time. Our guide was terrific. The Opera House is a must do experience in Buenos Aires.
Naomi_R, Dec 2024
We had a wonderful time and a great guide. The theater is beautiful and the history is very interesting
Betsy_B, Dec 2024
It was an interesting and informative tour. Our guide informed us of the history of the theater and pointed out unique items found in the architecture of this gorgeous theater!
Peter_V, Dec 2024
We paid $50 each to see the lobby. It is very impressive, but the point of visiting the "teatro" was to actually see the "teatro ". Instead we were allowed into the balcony seating in the pitch black teatro; no lighting at all. We sat there a few minutes and were therefore able to make out some of the details. But no lighting at all made the experience pointless and certainly not worth the hefty entrance fee. Avoid the disappointment by skipping this rip off.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Dear Peter,
We sincerely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.
We understand your frustration regarding the lack of lighting inside the auditorium. It’s important to clarify that Teatro Colón informs visitors in advance that, due to rehearsals and technical preparations for upcoming performances, lighting conditions may vary — and in some cases, the auditorium may be entirely dark. This is part of the operational needs of an actively functioning theater and does not reflect any negligence or lack of consideration toward guests.
We are sorry that this situation negatively affected your perception of the visit. However, the guided tour includes access to iconic spaces such as the majestic foyer, the Hall of Busts, and other areas that showcase the architectural and historical richness of the theater, all accompanied by knowledgeable guides who provide in-depth and enriching explanations.
We hope that despite this unexpected circumstance, you were still able to appreciate the beauty and cultural significance of Teatro Colón, recognized as one of the most important architectural and artistic landmarks in the world.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions. Thank you again for your visit.
Best regards,
Tangol Tours.
