What a wonderful tour! Karen and her team members were super knowledgeable. I learned so much about the history of coffee (globally and in Colombia), cultivation, different regions, how it’s harvested, various roasting techniques, and different brewing methods. They taught me how to truly appreciate what each different cup of coffee has to offer, from fragrance and aroma to body, flavor and beyond. Book it! It just might blow your mind like it did mine!

This was the best tour! First of all, the cafes that they took us to were SO cute and cool. I ended up buying something from each of them. They were awesome choices and the coffees we tried were really really good, and notably unique. Most importantly, our tour guide Daniela was so so awesome. She was sweet, fun, a great facilitator, but then also incredibly knowledgeable about Colombian coffee/coffee in general. She was super intentional and made sure that we got to try coffee from the northern Colombian coffee region, the Bogota region, and the southern region. She explained the general differences between the coffees that each region produces and taught us so much about coffee and tasting. Our group was so into it and couldn't stop asking questions, all of which Daniela was well prepared to answer or comment on. The schedule was great, the flow of the tour was great, the walking wasn't too much. Very well organized and structured. Overall it was the best experience. I learned an insane amount about coffee, tasting, Colombia, and many other things. Our group of 5 was small, but big enough to get chatty and share questions and personal experiences with each other. Overall it was an awesome day and I'd absolutely recommend this tour to anyone. We loved it!

As a big fan and coffee lover and especially espresso style, I enjoyed the specialty coffee workshop conducted by the lovely Daniella who did a great job introducing the coffee shops (cafe 18, CAFE Cultor), explaining various coffees, and processes. We were a bit unlucky with power outage at the third coffee company so we ended up going back to #2. but it was still great and Cafe Cultor was great fun place and had a delicious coffee to end the event. Would have been nice to actually see/smell the roasting of the beans.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thank you for leaving your feedback. Yes, Daniela is a fantastic instructor and is super passionate about coffee. I'm so sorry about the power outage, but it does happen at times. Thanks for being flexible and understanding that it was out of our control.

Daniela was so knowledgeable and incredibly helpful - she went above and beyond our expectations! We thoroughly enjoyed our time, learned so much and in fact returned to the cafe we visited as part of the workshop later on our own to buy more beans to take home to the US. Amazing, can't recommend this enough!
Response from Host, Feb 2023

Lara_V, Dec 2022
We took this tour to 3 coffee shops in the Chapinero neighbourhood in Bogota’ and loved it. Note that this is not in the historic La Candelaria neighbourhood - if you’re staying in La Candelaria, this is a 20-25 minute cab or Uber. Our tour guide was Daniela, who is very knowledgeable and passionate about coffee. She was patient, energetic, and accommodating of our circumstances - we were a group of 3 (including an elderly) and a baby! We ended up having Daniela to ourselves like a private tour, which was great. Highly recommended if you’re into coffee and want to hear more about the production, roasting, and preparation methods - e.g. V60 filter.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
We are so glad you had a good time with Daniela learning about specialty coffee. We love the Chapinero area for coffee because it's a bit off the beaten track but close to hotels, fantastic restaurants, and lots of specialty coffee shops and bakeries. Thanks for learning about coffee with the Flavors of Bogota team.
Eva_L, Oct 2022
We went to three coffee shops with Daniela. We started off at Liberatorio Coffee Roasters. Next we went to Café Cultur. Finally, we went to Colo Coffee. We learned about the different regions that coffee is grown in Colombia, and about the coffee history around the world. We practiced coffee tasting or coffee cupping. It was a great experience, and I learned a lot!!
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Thank you, Eva, for letting us know how much you enjoyed your coffee experience with us. Knowing about coffee regions really helps us understand how vast Colombian coffee is, and how varied it is. Glad you're now "colo" about Colombian coffee!! : )
Akosua_O, Mar 2022
Overall this tour was very informative and is, for the most part, as advertised. We went to three different coffee shops, all near each other in a non-touristy part of Bogota. We had 3-5 cups of coffee and all of the coffees were quite exceptional! We were walked through how to professionally analyze coffee, the different between different coffees, and it was all explained within the context of where the coffee originated. The guide, Daniela, was very knowledgable was clearly passionate about specialty coffee and improving access to this to native Colombians. I think the tour could be improved by talking with the baristas more and potentially adding a snack. We did not have a substantial amount of time to speak with the baristas and did not speak with a roaster at all. Additionally, with the amount of coffee we drank and the amount the tour costs relative to the coffee, I think adding in a complimentary pastry or something to soak the caffeine would have been useful. Otherwise, this was a great tour and I would recommend that people do it! My partner is not even a coffee person and she loved the tour and loved all of the coffees we tried.
Response from Host, Mar 2022
Thank you so much for this thoughtful and detailed review. We are so glad that you enjoyed learning with Daniela. And yes, she is passionate about her country's most delicious product. I am sorry you didn't get a chance to speak with the baristas - sometimes there's so much information to go over that we don't have time. Also, the language barrier can be difficult. But we will try to improve in the future. If you feel you have questions for the baristas, you can feel free to contact me so you can get answers to your questions. And we're glad you enjoyed the coffees!!! We generally don't offer food during the coffee workshops because it interferes with the tasting process. Once we have a good cinnamon bun, all the coffees taste like cinnamon! But I'm glad you enjoyed learning about coffee with us, and happy slurping!

Great, well rounded tour. I learned a lot about coffee and the process. Daniella was informative and spoke great English. Thanks!

This was a very comprehensive and engaging learning experience on the most ubiquitous of daily routines - enjoyment of a fine cup of coffee. Our guide Indira was very knowledgeable and eager to share her knowledge of the entire coffee growing process, defining the various origins of coffee right down to the multi-staged harvesting and roasting process. Her English was impeccable and her interaction with staff at the visited coffee shops was valuable to the learning experience.
Unfortunately my tour was delayed by the late arrival of other guests victims to Bogotá's notorious traffic, thus preventing me from visiting the third and final coffee shop with the rest of the group. As such, I don't feel I got anywhere near the value of the money spent had I been able to get the full experience I had to leave at the stated end time of the tour to pick up my kids from daycare, though we were only mid-way through the tour. Nevertheless, we tasted and enjoyed a variety of blends brewed methodically before our eyes by highly skilled staff, all of which was a valuable learning experience to me as a long term resident of Colombia.
To benefit more fully from the cost of this tour, be sure to arrive early and to not have immediate plans following the scheduled end of the tour. This is a tour to be savored and enjoyed!
Response from Host, Apr 2018
TOUR OPERATOR COMMENT: Hello Tim, I'm sorry to be responding late to this review but I just saw it. Thank you so much for your kind words and appreciation of the tour. I am deeply sorry that you couldn't visit the third coffee shop. Please let us know if you'd like to join another tour at a future time to make up for the experience you missed.
