We loved Jamie. He was a wonderful guide and had obviously completed a lot of research in the area. My husband grew up in Austin and did not know a lot of the stories that Jamie shared. Additionally he was very patient with all of us and communicative before, during and after the event. Definitely recommend.

Overview

Head off the usual tourist trail to uncover Austin’s sinister side on this guided walking tour through the city's most haunted and historic sites, covering about 2 miles (3.2 km) of the downtown area. Begin at The Tavern, once a Prohibition-era hotspot and now home to ghosts, before visiting eerie landmarks like the Texas Capitol, Paramount Theatre, and the Driskill Hotel, famous for its haunted bridal suite and lingering spirits. Along the way, hear chilling accounts of the "Servant Girl Annihilator", the UT Tower shooting, and whispers of the modern-day “Rainey Street Ripper.”
  • Hear ghost stories and learn about unsolved crimes and supernatural events
  • See hidden corners of Austin that most tours miss
  • Small-group tour: Plenty of time to ask your guide questions

Haunted Austin Ghost/Murder tour with Jamie

Mikayla_S, Mar 2026
We did the Haunted Austin tour last night and it was honestly the highlight of our trip. We were only in Austin for two days (from Dallas), and we learned so much—not just about the ghost and murder history, but about Austin in general. Jamie’s storytelling was incredible. He had us completely captivated the entire time—you can tell he’s truly passionate about what he does. It honestly felt like being a kid again, hearing ghost stories, but actually stepping into them in real life. One thing I really appreciated was that he always waited until everyone caught up and gathered around before starting to speak, so no one missed any part of the story. The experience was also really well-paced. We didn’t feel like we were walking nonstop for two hours—there were plenty of stops for storytelling and sightseeing, so it wasn’t tiring at all. Also, I have to mention—this was more my kind of thing than my boyfriend’s, and he honestly wasn’t super eager to go (he mostly came for me… and because the game was on). But within about 15 minutes, he was completely into it. We ended up talking about the tour over drinks afterward the whole time, which says a lot. At the end, we even got to participate in a murder mystery and try to figure out the “whodunit,” which made it super immersive and fun. I knew this tour would be good when I saw Jamie had a 100% rating, but it still exceeded expectations. We honestly would have paid $100 for this—it was a steal. Jamie is also super personable and made the whole experience even better. So glad we did this—we highly recommend!!!

Response from Host, Mar 2026

This genuinely made my day! Thank you so much! I love hearing that the Ghost and Murder Tour ended up being a highlight of your Austin trip. Tell your boyfriend I appreciate him taking one for the team and sticking around past the first 15 minutes! 😄 The murder mystery at the end is always one of my favourite parts, watching people piece it all together and argue over whodunit never gets old. Austin has such a rich and fascinating history beyond just the ghost stories and I'm so glad that came through.

Walking involved, but pace was slow so not an issue. Interesting history of Austin and the ghosts that haunt here.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for mentioning the pace / walking. This is something I'm really conscious of and want everyone to feel comfortable throughout the tour regardless of mobility or fitness level. So glad the history and ghost stories kept you entertained along the way!

Alisha_B, Mar 2026
It was a good tour. Hilly terrain, so I would say moderate physical ability needed. Jamie was great and told a few ghost stories, but felt more about the history and murder part of the tour. Not complaining, just thought there would be more about the ghosts.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for joining the tour and for sharing your thoughts and yes, comfortable shoes are a must!

My partner and I decided to visit Austin for a long weekend to celebrate Valentine's Day. We thought it would be fun to go on this tour and we were not wrong. Jamie was THE BEST tour guide you could ask for... well-informed, witty, and his London accent was a big bonus when talking about the ghosts. The walk was lovely and the weather was great. This tour is definitely worth it if you're looking for a great evening activity.
