Private 2 Hour Guided Tour to Philae Temple from Aswan:
We took this tour and had a great time. Mary, our tour guide was very knowledgeable. It was great to have her explain the different meanings of the carvings.
On our way back, Mary mentioned a free experience about the spice and perfume industry in the city. This ended up just being a perfume and spice store. The sales experience was very cool, but this was all just a sales pitch while the tour guide sat in their phone waiting for us to buy things. We ended up buying stuff, because we felt too guilty not to. Additionally, at the spice store the ladies packaging up the spices ended up giving us much more than we wanted. The price for these were by the pound.
On the car ride back the tour guide got very pushy about leaving a review. She wanted a screen shot of it before we left the car, so we were not able to be 100% honest with our first review.
Overall, we had a fun time, but, some of it got overshadowed with the unexpected added sales pitch.
Great guide, explained in good english with great detail and clearly, recommend with Samir Gaber. Nice temple to visit.
Not recommended, the tour never happened. I was told on the day of the tour by the tour advisor that due to unforeseen operation problems, the tour can't take place. No refund was also not provided
Connecting with Viator was useless when we needed to as our flight was late. Phoned a UK number, no human answered. Viator is useless. We should have been given guide's number immediately when we booked.
Mary our guide was excellent but I will not use Viator again. Not there when they were needed.
Philae temple was nice and has beautiful views surrounding the area. Ahmed our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the place.
Made reservation with the available date, time slot, pick up hotel provided by Viator website. But the guide/driver never showed up. Both the hotel front desk and I made several phone calls to the tour operator and got NO answer at all. It was terrible, hope Viator will issue a full refund for this.
The tour itself is fine, quick and in a beautiful temple. However, what is very upsetting is the fact that the guide was very pushy for a 5 star review, to the point that took my phone and wrote it down himself. This is really bad as I wanted to enjoy the scenery and take photos, not write down a comment half way of the tour. This overall ruined my experience
Guide was pleasant and informative. Once again (clearly this is how it works in Egypt) guide tried to push us to shop with his buddies for a commission. It gets old navigating that scam. He also used fake tickets dated Jan 2025 and pocketed the cash, then askedfor them back. It is what it is. We enjoyed the temple and his guidance despite it. If you understand the shopping commission scams, it helps move the experience along.
Mostafa is very knowledgable and I enjoyed my time at Philae temple - listening to his stories of the stories of isis and other gods.
We booked very last minute and was great communication- easy to find our tour guide. Heba - she communicated in good English and explained the temple well - I do recommend - also had the option to visit spice or perfumes if we wanted. We detoured by a local shop on the way home - so very helpful!
The tour guide Mohamed abdo is very nice and friendly. He walked us through the template with detailed introduction.
The tour operator was great and on my request delayed the tour by 1 hour as I got late to Aswan. They picked me up from the Hotel and transferred by car to Philae temple. Our tour guide Samy was very pleasant and gave us a detailed tour of the temple. He explained us the heliographic depictions of goddess Iris and Horus, the tale associated with the temple, rule by Greeks and romans and Nileometer. The travel to the temple in waterboat was also beautiful. Overall, a great experience.
Heba was our tour guide for Philae Temple and she was very kind to explain the details of the carvings on the walls of the temple and very well spoken English! We loved the tour with Heba
Mohammad Ando was a fantastic guide with a welcoming and friendly attitude. He took the time to explain the history behind the temple and also gave us plenty of free time to explore the temple. He was also helpful in helping us to organize the boat trip to another island .
Philae Temple is worth a visit but I would not recommend this tour. The tour does take you to the temple/island as described but the guide makes the experience feel extremely rushed such that you don’t enjoy your time there. They try to take you to the temple for only half an hour and then to a perfume factory afterwards. We had to push the guide for more time and he seemed extremely annoyed with us and kept threatening to leave. You need at least 1.5-2 hours at the temple to fully enjoy it and take pictures.
The experience was special. We went with Nice Tours. We were picked up from the hotel then to a pier from where we took a boat to Philae temple. There the guide explained a bit about the history of this temple and then we were left alone for 40 minutes. The time spent alone was a bit short considering how big the temple is and how much there is to see. If you go alone and are passionate about Ancient Egypt like us, I recommend staying at least 2 hours. On the way back we went through 2 shops, one for spices and one for clothing, I didn't want to go to the third one. I think tourists should be asked beforehand and one shop would be enough.
Everything was great on our tour to Philae island. Mary was a great guide, told us many interesting facts and stories about Philae island. Highly recomend this quick tour.
Ahmed was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and very interesting to listen to. It was easy to engage with him on not just the temple related topics but also culture and geopolitics. He was very kind and thoughtful and the tour was so worth our time.

While the Guide was quite good, the tour company in Egypt, Nice Tours, was terrible at communicating with me. They did not respond to messages or answer their phone. Vert frustrating trying to coordinate and confirm a meet-up location. The guide, was a subcontractors to Nice Tours, and she was very good.
Visit to the temple is fine. However, we feel like a little bit rushed. We wanted to buy souvenir but we were told to shop for souvenirs at government shop which is the perfume shop and spice shop which is not in the itinerary. We spent more time at the shop listening to the sellers more than the visit to the temple itself.
A well organized tour with a super professional guide.I reccomend this tour to whom have a short time schedule.

However, I find the price quite high considering that entrance tickets are not included and the guide’s English level was somewhat limited.
We had a wonderful visit to the Philae Temple today with our guide, Mr Mido. He was patient and knowledgeable, explaining both the overall structure and the intricate details of the temple. His storytelling beautifully connected Egyptian history with mythology, which made the experience both educational and enjoyable. We learned a lot and truly appreciated his guidance. Highly recommended!
Was picked up by guide, arrived at Philae very little information given about the Temples.. After we went to Essence and spices shop. We spent more time at the shops than we did at Philae Temple itself.
A great tour! Mary was very interesting and knowledgeable. She talked us through everything at Philae island and gave us plenty of time to explore ourselves too. Highly recommended.
