See Abu Simbel but you don't need a guide

Abu Simbel was outstanding and well worth the long drive. However, just get yourself a local driver in Aswan and save a lot of money. There was little value added to being on this private tour. Tour guides are not allowed in the temples, so we received only a brief explanation before entering, primarily consisting of basic Egyptology information that had already been gleaned from several previous tours and books. Our guide was soft-spoken, had trouble with English, misunderstood most of our questions, seemed disinterested, and spent more time on her phone than talking to us. The visitor center video of how AS was moved was very interesting. The car was clean and had working seat belts, which is not something you can routinely count on. Nevertheless, the car was freezing, and our view was largely obscured by an enormous air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror and a big pack of tissues on the dashboard. Not great for such a long drive.
