Our guide, Samuele, was great and shared so much information, not only about truffles (types, how and where they grow), but also about the area around Assisi and beyond. His dog is still in training, but successfully found a truffle. It was a pleasure to walk in the beautiful hills of Umbria with a local and his pup!

We had a beautiful afternoon roaming the gorgeous hills of Assisi with Samuele and his very cute & talented pups! A super fun, easy, engaging and informative experience, we learnt a lot about truffles and thoroughly enjoyed watching the dogs sniff them out and dig them up. Samuele was an amazing guide, he really has so much knowledge about truffle hunting and the chemistry and ecology involved, explaining things like soil pH and the symbiotic relationship between truffles and tree roots. He was also very patient and kind with the kids on the tour, which was lovely to see. I would highly recommend this experience, grazie millie Samuele for having us! P.S special shout out to Sam's little brother who joined the tour to help manage the dogs and practice his english! Very well done :)

Samuele picked us up in Assisi. The entire experience was second to none. He provided a lot of information about truffles, the dogs, and hunting. It was a fantastic experience in every way. We highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic truffle hunting experience in Umbria

I spent 2 hours with Samuele and his lovely dog hunting for truffles in the Umbrian countryside very near Assisi. We walked though through olive, oak and ash woods and found 2 black truffles. Samuele is very knowledgeable about truffle hunting and nature. He is the 3rd generation in his family to do truffle hunting and has a liscence. A great Umbrian experience.

This was a great side experience for our trip to the Assisi area. If you want to know all about truffle hunting than Samuele and Sophie as well as their great truffle hunting dog Lordie led us through the woods outside of Assisi. Glad we brought boots and they worked out perfect for this trek in search of truffles. Our communications via WhatsApp were clear about meeting place and time. We were there in December but we lucked out and it was a perfect day for hiking. Would definately reccomend this experience. It was more than we expected and we learned so much.

Idyllic & Fun Family Experience

The entire family has a wonderful experience - it was a delight to be outside enjoying the stunning scenery while learning about this foraging art. The dogs were super friendly and our guide knowledgeable, funny and kind. Beside finding truffles and learning about the environment they thrive in, we were surrounded by butterflies and the beautiful smells of honeysuckle and fennel. This experience was an important change of pace from the chapels and museums of Italy and helped balance the trip. I would highly recommend.

Fantastic and picturesque truffle hunting experience

Fantastic experience with Samuelle and of course Lordy the lovely truffle hunting dog! Samuelle picked up my partner and my father and I from the centre of Assisi and drove us out to his house where we met his Italian pointer dog Lordy. Lordy was a lovely friendly dog but with a clear talent for finding truffles! We set out on a walk through the hills - the views were stunning!! And Samuelle did a fantastic job pacing the walk for us as a group as well as explaining in excellent English lots of facts about the area and of course truffles! We were very lucky to find 5 truffles during our walk - 4 white ones and one black truffle. Samuelle really enabled us all to get involved and excited in the truffle hunting and discovery experience with each and every find! We can’t wait to try some of the recipes Samuelle suggested with our truffles when we get back to the UK. Thank you!

Truffle hunting was an activity my children (10, 8 & 7 years) looked forward to the most since we all love a bit of foraging. This experience did not disappoint- kids had an absolute blast thanks to Samuelle his incredibly knowledgeable dad and a "little" sniffing genius called Lord. We truly appreciated the consideration of terrain for the children and also the previous weather conditions (it rained a lot). I think it is so important the guide is also guided by your circumstances- which is exactly what happened. We were super lucky to find 2 lovely scorzone and the ever so prized white truffle too! We loved the fact we could keep this little treasure and enjoy it on fried eggs as per Samuelle's recommendation. We also very much enjoyed the little picnic snack afterwards and all the recipe recommendations. This was a wholesome experience and I would fully recommend this to anyone who is considering- just do it! And do bring suitable shoes (you cannot go wrong with decent ridges on your footwear ;) )

Super informative and nice search with Samuele and his adorable dogs, which was also manageable for our 6 and 8-year-old children. In a beautiful setting, we were also very successful and are already looking forward to homemade truffle pasta!
