This was a great experience for learning more about the local Antiguan cuisine, culture and way of life. The market tour was very informative, and we had such a fun time cooking. And, all of the food was absolutely delicious! I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an hands-on experience in Antigua

I enjoyed cooking with people from all over the world. The food was great and I would recommend this experience.

Absolutely worth every penny. We had to walk to get from the market to the class because the roads were closed for the processiones, but even that was amazing and beautiful. The class was fun, Karina was a great teacher, Estaban was very helpful and informative as a guide and interpreter when needed. 100% would do again.

We helped prepare a four-course dinner using local foods and recipes. Dario, the guide/chef first gave us a tour of the central market and purchased some of the ingredients for the dinner. We rode a chicken bus to the dining location just outside the city. Then we drank wine and chopped it all up. He and his assistants did the final preparation while the guests chatted. We were all dropped off at our hotels about 6 hours later. This was a wonderful experience, best cooking class we have ever taken!

Started at the market with Fernanda and had a great time exploring and acquiring some Guatemalan produce to taste at the class. The class was very hands on in a fun and lively atmosphere.

We absolutely loved our market tour and cooking class in Antigua, Guatemala! It was such a special experience and an amazing way to learn about the culture. Getting to see how the locals live and shop was eye-opening in the best way. Our guides were fantastic—stopping at little spots along the way, translating for us, and treating us like friends from the moment we met. Everyone we encountered was so warm and welcoming that we genuinely felt like we were visiting family.
The entire day was filled with laughter, cooking, dancing, and enjoying the most beautiful views. And the food… hands down the best we had in all of Guatemala! We were also on our honeymoon, and they surprised us with a cake, which was unbelievably thoughtful and made the experience even more memorable. It was over the top in the sweetest way and truly the best excursion/tour we have ever booked.
Highly recommend to anyone visiting Antigua—you won’t regret it!

The guide/chef Dario was very informative funny & patient. The walk through the market was beautiful. The cooking on the rooftop with a beautiful view. Great experience from beginning to end. Dario showed us a great time & we had the pleasure of cooking with him on his birthday. The Tuktuk ride was a little bumpy but was an experience. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed a colorful walk through the market, a bumpy tuk tuk ride, and then we began creating beautiful Guatemalan dishes

A fantastic experience! It was only my daughter and I so we had lots of help from Dario, our amazing chef, and two beautiful ladies that work with him. Rooftop kitchen is gorgeous. Food was delicious. We had such an amazing time cooking and laughing and creating sweet memories!

This was my absolute favourite activity during my time in Guatemala. I think I was super lucky with the group of people doing this with me also. But our guide during the market tour was informative and friendly. We were given ample time to explore and to ask questions.. we even got to try some of the local fruits. And the cooking portion??? Phenomenal! The food was delicious, the views were spectacular and the ambience was to die for. The delicious wine before, during and after dinner was also a nice touch. I would totally do this again if given the opportunity. Thanks for the amazing experience!

A very authentic Guatemala cooking experience. After a trip to a open air market to buy fruit, vegetables, and meat for our class. Once we arrived at the cooking school we were able to have a hands on experience to make the wonderful cuisine of the area. Our host Dario was very friendly and an amazing chef. I would do this experience again, and I would recommend it to anyone.

We had Dario as our guide and chef for the class and he was fantastic! Super knowledgable in the market tour. My husband and I had our two young kids with us and he was so patient and accommodating with them! He found cooking activities for my son to help with (like mixing the tortilla mix), and once we were at the cooking school found toys to help keep the kids entertained during the class. The food was delicious and he made the class very fun, welcoming, and intimate. So happy we got to have this experience and a huge shout out and thank you to Dario!

My partner and I loved the ability to have a personalized tour with Dario. He was patient, humorous, and charismatic and very willing to answer all our questions about produce, animals, and cooking. We made a delicious jocon, practiced our Spanish, and enjoyed seeing new views outside of just exploring Antigua.

I did both the market tour and cooking with Dario, who was a great guide and instructor. The market is a rabbit warren of vendors selling everything you can imagine, from fruit, vegetables, and meat to clothing and shoes! It was a great cultural experience. After a fun tuk-tuk ride, we arrived at the cooking school, where our little group prepared and ate a delicious meal on the rooftop kitchen with views of the mountains and volcanoes. Then, I had another tuk-tuk ride back to the hotel. All in all, this was just excellent and great fun! Highly recommended!

Such a great experience! I first toured the market with Dario and he was so informative and I got to learn about some of the Guatemalan traditions. When we got to the school Pamela taught us how to make DELICIOUS Guatemalan food. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this cooking class.

Worth every penny, great instruction, conversation & ambiance! 10/10
Received a thorough tour of the market, experienced a ride in a tuc tuc and enjoyed delicious food!

Food was great. Leave out the market part. Half of the artesian markets were closed. I have nothing more to say.

Such an excellent experience. We wouldn’t have known about the markets otherwise - the tour was great. Our guide was friendly and arranged everything. Transportation the the school was quick and the space was absolutely beautiful! I loved how relaxed it was. We all cooked and enjoyed the dinner on the rooftop. Highly recommend!

It was an absolutely amazing experience. Dario was the best guide on the market tour. We learned so much. We had a great time cooking and learning with other travelers. The view from the rooftop cooking class was beautiful.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this cooking class. I toured the market with Dario before the cooking class started. He was an excellent guide, spoke very good English and took me to the artisan market, the fruit market and the local market where the locals buy all of their goods from paper towel to medicinal herbs. I loved it! He then arranged for a tuk tuk to pick up my husband from our hotel and meet me, where we then were taken to the cooking school. Dario introduced us to some of the local fruits and foods and we enjoyed an evening cooking and eating with a couple from Lithuania. The whole experience for me including the market tour was about 5 hours, the cooking portion was about 2.5-3 hours. I highly recommend this tour if you are looking to learn about the local cuisine and a little about the Guatemalan culture.

Recommend the market tour option! Very interesting. Dario was informative and we enjoyed learning new dishes!

Such a fun experience. Would definitely recommend. The views and food were amazing and the market experience was so interesting.
Angel_L, Feb 2024
I loved the cooking part and the market tour was cool. The only thing I would say is that the tour guide didn’t wash his hands as often as I would have liked especially since he was the one selecting the food we would later eat.
Kara_S, Feb 2024
This cooking class was a BLAST! Delicious, good vibes, informative, I can’t recommend it enough. The optional market tour with this experience is a must. Our guide, Pampa, was the best. He knew all the best places in the market, was welcoming and brought the participants together. Everyone had their jobs to do so we were all included in preparing the meal- the bottomless wine and free tequila shots didn’t hurt either (:
There were placemats, bags, coasters, and other woven goodies for purchase and you could watch the women weave while we cook. Beautiful view on this rooftop as well.
We loved this experience so much, we booked a street food tour through the same company with Pampa later in the week too.

We loved being able to tour the market! You can't believe it until you see it in person, but it felt so alive and was such a great way to experience the culture. We really enjoyed where we cooked our lunch - the views were beautiful and it was a relaxing setting. We were able to choose (as a group) what we wanted to cook and our dish was delicious. We highly recommend this tour!

Pampa, our market tour guide was very sweet, informative, and above and beyond friendly and took us on a lovely walk around the bustling market. We then drove to the cooking school to meet up the rest of the class and Dario and Pampa showed us how to cook traditional guatemalan foods Pepian, Jocon, Doblados, and Rellenitos. It was all very delicious and in a very nice setting ontop the rooftop with a view of the mountains. Drinks could be purchased and there was free wine. A delightful way to spend the day and I met some awesome people taking the class as well! They were able to accomodate vegans and created vegan versions of the stews as well. And the best part is they give you recipes so you can practice at home. Highly recommend.

This experience was so great! It’s hard to say which was the best part—the market shopping or cooking! I did not realize how much fun the market would be. Pampa was a fabulous guide through the massive market. He pointed out and explained so many interesting things! The market is like a Moroccan souk; it’s a giant maze that I would have been lost for days in had I attempted it by myself. It’s a real treat for the senses! After the market, we took a tuk-tuk to the cooking place. It is outdoors, on top of the house. It is a beautifully rustic kitchen positioned perfectly with volcano and city views. Dario was a fun, knowledgeable instructor! I learned a lot, had so much fun, and ate great food! I can hardly wait to try the recipes (provided) with my friends! Highly recommend!

If you are in Antigua, then you need to take this tour. The guide took me through the main market, it would have been almost impossible for me to navigate it on my own. I was able to see all the different parts of the market. Then the cooking class was so fun, the food turned out delicious, and I have the recipes to try at home!
