The description here on Viator when we booked was very misleading. There are no horses involved at any point. The tour is much longer than anticipated pickup was 8am, didn't get back until 6pm. When you book it says on the confirmation page that the cost of hotel pickup from Arenal area is 20-30 extra, plus the cost of parking at the park and park entrance fees. Good news for us is that nobody ever collected on any of those so we did only pay the price listed on Viator, but it was still misleading. Contacted our local contact via Whatsapp the day before the tour to confirm what time we would be back at our hotel at so we could book an evening activity and they said 2pm. Great. So we booked something for 4:30. Well, we didn't even start heading back to Arenal/La Fortuna until almost 3:30pm, and it's a 2 hour drive back.
Overall the tour itself as an activity is nice, the guide is knowledgeable and the sights are beautiful. I enjoyed the tour, and would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for all the confusion in every other aspect of the booking.
