Tour was great. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and the information was very interesting. She was also super nice and funny. The farm is beautiful and the Starbucks store had all kinds of great drinks and food that can't be found anywhere else.

The guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Farmed coffee for many years. The food, disappointingly, is usual factory farmed Starbucks food. They could and should do much better. I learned a bit about coffee. It was worth it. Tasting at end was modest.
Really interesting tour. Learn a lot about the coffee industry in Costa Rica. Although it’s a Starbucks farm, the coffee grown is primarily for future of coffee rather than supplying into mainstream industry.

Extremely well organized, and to their credit, easily accessible to wheelchairs. We were expecting a full on Starbucks commercial, but there was very little of this, most of the focus is on coffee from seed to coffee cup.

It was more educational about coffee growing and what they pay pickers. Not a farm tour and mostly just listening. We went Fri, Dec 26, 2025. It was so hard to get a seat with the views and we tried for a long time but couldn’t. It was crowded since we arrived at noon and got more crowded after tour.
This has some walking that is steep, so do not wear sandals. This is not a working farm, the coffee grown here is for research and development, so it might be different than you are expecting. I’d recommend the visit just for the views, the info was nice, but I think the trip would be worth it even without the tour. You can drink your coffee and overlook the plantation and waterfall. It’s a beautiful spot!
Starbucks Alsacia is Starbucks’ first and only coffee farm in Costa Rica, serving as its global hub for research, development, and innovation. This working farm features a visitor center, a coffee nursery, and a research facility, offering a “seed to cup” experience for visitors and training for Starbucks staff. Tours are available daily by reservation only through online booking, with sessions in Spanish and English at different times. Our expert guide, Daria, shared insights on coffee farming, harvesting, drying, and selecting premium beans, along with Starbucks’ efforts to support local farmers. The tour concludes with a coffee tasting. Informative coffee tour, very attentive, answered the groups various questions, would highly recommend coffee tour to understand the entire coffee process from growing to roasting.

I am the only one in my family that drinks coffee, but everyone had a great time. It was really cool to learn about how coffee was made and to get to participate in the coffee tasting was fun, I even got my husband to try coffee.

I would definitely recommend it as it’s unique & only in Costa Rica.
We travel a lot so prefer unique experiences over touristy ones.
Let me start off by saying this was one of the reasons we decided to come to Costa Rica. My daughter is a huge Starbucks fan and also works at a Starbucks.
While the Starbucks location was amazingly beautiful, the food was delicious as well as reasonable priced, and the baristas where friendly and professional, the tour was not my favorite. I know the weather can’t be predicted or changed, but was the tour cut short because of the rain?
The tour and tasting itself was under an hour, 45 minutes to be exact. This is half the advertised time. While informational, it was underwhelming. I had such higher expectations. Although it was raining, they were ready with umbrellas.
It poured down buckets of rain within the first 10 minutes of the tour and we decided to abort. We could not hear anything the guide was saying. It was also a large group.
Learning what a laborer’s daily tasks are and what they are paid. I figure that the coffee industry is one that profits from the labor force of underpaid employees.
The tour was very informative on the coffee process. You get to experience picking coffee beans, learning about the process of the distribution and fermentation as well as being able to try the coffee after the tour. The Starbucks Cafe was a great experience! The menu offered so many items not found in other locations.
