What a wonderful experience we had, thanks to Innez from Food and Wine Tours. It was simply the best.
The tour was intimate, and Innez was incredibly accommodating to all of our requests. We began with a scenic drive past Glenelg before travelling along the beautiful coastal road to Moana, eventually arriving at our first destination, Maxwell Wines. What a stunning venue — we absolutely loved the honey mead. Heidi was a gracious host, sharing the history of the winery and the wines they produce, which made for a fantastic start to the day.
From there, we stopped at the d’Arenberg Cube for a photo opportunity and a chance to view the Dr Seuss art collection.
Our second winery was Haselgrove Wines, where the lovely Rebecca — along with her Great Dane/Bull Arab pup, Marlowe — welcomed us at the cellar door for a tasting session. The wines were exceptional.
Next, we headed to Hugo Winery to enjoy a delicious ploughman’s platter featuring fresh local produce, paired perfectly with their wines.
Our final stop was Shottesbrooke Winery, where we were once again impressed by a wonderful wine tasting experience.
On the journey home, Innez surprised us with a spontaneous stop at the Menz Chocolate Factory, where we picked up a few treats before finally returning to our hotel for a well-earned rest.
Thank you, Innez, for taking us on such a magnificent trip and creating an experience we will always remember. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and highly recommend Food and Wine Tours — you won’t be disappointed.

Danny, our driver provided us with a great depth of knowledge on topics of history, wine and the areas we visited. Friendly, obliging and professional in providing us with the best experience for our tour of McLaren Vale region. We visited 4 vineyards as a small group, with attentive passionate people, who served us the tastings. A variety of wines of different varietals that we hadn’t tasted before. Fantastic day - thanks to Danny.

We had a really wonderful time visiting the McLaren Vale with a very small group and an excellent guide. We visited four different wineries and had an excellent lunch. The winery hosts were very informative. We learned a lot and had a great time!

The whole journey beautiful coastal line and winery landsacpe was stunning. You could tell the pride and love put in. Our host, driver, guide and eventually became friend is top notch.

They should probably have cancelled the tour, there was only 2 of us on it and we didn’t know each other, and there was a bit of a language barrier. It was a tough gig for a full day tbh.
The wine was good and the winery staff were great, this is just not a good option for solo travellers.

The wineries we went to were all very good and gave us plenty to taste. The only thing I would have preferred is a pickup at 9:30 instead of 9:00. We took a little sightseeing on the way ( which we had already done ourselves).

We were disappointed with this tour because we did not go to the wineries outlined on the booking. We paid a lot for this tour and that was disappointing. Danny wasn't a great driver either. He didn't like to engage with us, got annoyed at the other couple who he had to drive back to Adelaide city. He didn't seem he wanted to be there and that's not great for a wine tour.

Great day of wine tastings in McLaren Vale. 4 highly rated vineyards were visited with a varied selection of wines to taste. We had lovely platter or local fare for lunch and even made a pit stop at the famous chocolate shop and cube. Fabulous!

We had a great day guided by Bruce who was very knowledgeable and accomodating. Every winery we visited were great venues and the lunch platter was superb. We had a bit of time up out sleeve so Bruce was kind enough to fit an extra stop in which wasn’t in the original itinerary. Great day had by all.

Firstly, we didn’t go to the wineries listed - which was disappointing, what was even more disappointing was the lack of explanation why the plan had changed, but instead being told - we were going to “Danny’s favorite wineries”.
The very bad dad jokes, chaotic explanations and lack of music encouraging fun, relaxed time - felt like we were not on “our wine tour” but on “Danny’s” which was not right. Nothing wrong with the man, however better consideration to the needs of the group should have been had. The tour felt flat and simple things would make it so much better (like play some music, explain why the original plan had changed, don't make it about 'your taste, your sense of humour'.
Out of all the wine tours I have ever done around Australia this one was average.

Despite the wet weather, the six of us had a great day. We visited 4 excellent wineries, had a wonderful lunch and visited an art shop and a chocolate shop. The guide and driver - Vince was fantastic and really ensured we had a great day. The pick up was smooth, the trip down and back fantastic and everything went to plan. Well worth the money. It was great fun!

Danny our host, was extremely knowledgeable of the district and kept the conversation relevant and informative. Great choice of wineries and he had good rapport with winery hosts and owners. We thoroughly enjoyed our day out.

We had an excellent day. Our tour guide Inez was fantastic. She shared information about the area and the historic relevance. The Cellar Door experiences were fabulous. Overall a nice day out with a pretty small group (total of 5 plus our guide Danny). Hotel pickup is prompt arriving at the time as notified the afternoon before making everything simple. Danny was a really nice fellow and gave some really great history about Adelaide. We went to four wineries and two were really good, but I have to say with Hugh Hamilton and Richard Hamilton I didn’t particular care for them (although the view from Hugh’s was very nice). They were nice but didn’t suit my taste, but everyone will different (although it seemed that a majority of us didn’t like their wines that much either).
My main criticism really is I feel Danny just needs to be a little bit more engaging at the wineries. With other tours I had done the guide tends to integrate really nicely with the group and almost act as just another person of the tour (but without the wine tastings for them, good for us but unfortunate for them 😅). Danny tended to disappear for a bit and leave us to it which maybe some people will like more but I would have preferred more of a presence. But don’t take away the fact that he is a very nice person and approachable of course, but the feeling of distance and the choices of the Hamiltons stop it from being a 5 star review. Would also suggest a mic in the bus to ensure Danny can be heard as well as an offer to write names on the wines we purchase.
