Beautiful Meteora
The bus ride of 4 hours each way is a little daunting, but Meteora itself is awe inspiring. There was no commentary at all during the 8 hrs there and back. When we arrived in Kalambaka, we picked up our guide Clement who was lovely and informative. We walked up at least 700 steps, definitely got the cardio today! I don’t remember it being quite as difficult 30+ years ago. Food was cafeteria style, got us in and out. Bathroom stops were clean and ok.

Cannot miss Meteora.
This two day trip was amazing. I did Athens to Meteora and back to Athens over two days. The crew was absolutely friendly, have thought of every requirement and very well cordinated. I did not have any challenge throughout the trip. The only problem i noticed was there was additional trips planned by some people which i dint find in my option. Hence i couldn't book for the additional trip and had already made my booking in Athens. Would have loved to continue.

Meteor was the most beautiful place we have been!
We had an excellent private excursion to Meteora and would highly recommend it! Our driver, Aris, picked us up right at our hotel in Athens and was extremely personable and knowledgeable. The drive to Meteora is quite long, but Aris made the journey so enjoyable with his interesting conversations and knowledge of Greece. Meteora itself was absolutely breathtaking, and the entire day was one of the highlights of our trip to Greece. Thank you, Aris, for such a memorable experience!

Meteora byzantine monasteries perched on top of steep rocks, Greece
  • Wear comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen and water, and prepare to walk---all but one of the monasteries is reached by steep steps.

  • Visitors to the monasteries must have their shoulders and knees covered, and wraps are provided at the entrance.

  • The best options for restaurants and cafés are in Kalampaka, so bring a packed lunch if you plan to spend the day.

  • Be sure to check the opening days and times of the monasteries in advance, as they vary.

  • Plan to visit two or three monasteries on a day tour---to visit all six, you will need a 2-day tour.

  • St. Stephen's Monastery (Agios Stephanos) is the only wheelchair-accessible monastery.
