Great smaller group tour...
Great smaller group tour - about 3+ hours. Recommend if only to avoid the bigger tour groups in the public area. The secret passages cover the dungeons, Cassanova’s cell, Armory, Archive room, bridge of Sighs, and secret courtrooms of the Doge council of 10 with an interesting torture rope-pulley in one of the court rooms in case you need convincing! 2nd half of the tour - we did the 9:15 (which I recommend doing early to avoid the largest of the crowds) was the public galleries which featured over the top Venetian paintings and gold leaf ceilings - must have been the inspiration for Versailles! Our tour guide Nicco was excellent, personable, and quite knowledgeable with all the paint symbolism. The tour concluded with the Basilica about 30 minutes - which was magnificent (you can stay longer if you have time after the formal tour) - was even better - broadly one of the best preserved Byzantine style churches - which after seeing Hagia Sophia on the same trip helped fill in the visual of what that site would have looked like before its mosque conversion by the Ottomans. You could honestly stare at the gold leave and mosaic images on the walls for hours and not be bored - just floored!

A different view of Venician history
This was a great tour.
Very macabre, thought provoking, sickening at times.
Reminisce about the times when you could be accused of a crime by a neighbour and tortured without trial.
This tour goes inside the prison next to the palace and next to the bridge of sighs, showing the cells prisoners were kept in and some of the original devices to torture to gain confessions from the guilty and the innocent.

It was a wonderful...
It was a wonderful experience. We couldn't find our tour group so we explored on our own. That was a great decision. We were only able to explore the Doge Palace and not tthe other sights that had been included as part of guided tour, as exploring the Palace alone easily took 2.5 of the 3 hour allotted time for the tour. Self directed tour can be done by downloading the app at the Palace and listening to the audio through your phone.

Venice Through the Eyes of a Local
Venice can be overwhelming, but Mikayla made it completely manageable — and truly unforgettable. She took us from the bustling St. Mark's Square and Piazzetta San Marco to the quiet back alleys most tourists never find.
Born and raised in Venice, her local knowledge was invaluable — from hidden restaurants to insider stories you won't find in any guidebook. We even stopped for a spritz on a scorching hot day. Highly necessary.
If you want to experience Venice beyond the crowds, Mikayla is your guide.

Great little tour!
This is a great tour of the basilica. It starts by the newsstand and we were given an audio earpiece. Our guide walked us through Piazza San Marco and then straight into the basilica. She talked about the mosaics and the marble and explained lots of information about this incredible place. The tour lasted around 40 minutes which was great. We then paid a small amount more to go into the museum and to go to the terrace outside which has spectacular views. Thoroughly enjoyable. The basilica is quite dimly lit, but she said that if you are there at 11:30am they light the inside up for an hour. This would be incredible but we weren’t able to do this as we were there earlier.
