Monte Alban half day tour; Miguel is the best!
Monte Alban is a must see for when you travel to Oaxaca. Booking the half day tour with Viator was pleasant and Miguel , our tour guide, was the best. He was funny, engaging and so knowledgeable about the history and culture of the Zapotecs that never once did it feel like it dragged on or was it ever boring. I cannot speak for the full day tour but personally, the half day tour was a sufficient amount of time and we also get to roam the grounds freely after the tour. I learned so much from this and I have to say again, Miguel is truly awesome. If you are lucky enough to have him as your guide, you won’t regret it and it will be worth every penny.

Miguel and Auto are awesome guides!
Miguel was our tour guide, he was great! We went to a few spots outside of Oaxaca and learned a lot. We spent just the right amount of each spot so I didn't get bored. we also got some mezcal to pre game, everything was great!
Auto was our driver and he did great job driving and made us feel safe. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone, and if your worried about the hike like I was done be, I opted out for the hike and still had a great time sight seeing.

Just as promised
First off, they were really kind and let me change our reservation to the following day, last minute, due to illness.
As for the experience itself, it was just as advertised. The guide was knowledgeable and spoke multiple languages, but did display a bit of favoritism in spending most of the time talking only to certain participants. However, everything else was good. A very full, long day, but the highlight of our Oaxaca trip.

Wonderful cooking class in Oaxaca!
Chef Oswaldo was a great host! Once are group met up he took us back to his beautiful place where we prepared some amazing Oaxacan dishes. Everything was explained to us in both and English so no one felt left out, we had a small group of 4 so felt very intimate. If your looking to book a cooking class, I would definitely recommend this one. We came hungry and left stuffed! Memorable experience and skill to take back home to cook for friends and family.

Best Tour!
This was the best tour! A wonderful experience seeing all of the amazing sights! Miguel was an incredible guide as he was very knowledgeable and patient, we could not have asked for better, make sure you ask for him! A full day but time flew by as the experiences unfolded. I especially enjoyed Monte Alban! When visiting Oaxaca I highly recommend this tour with Miguel, you will have an opportunity to see and experience some of the best Oaxaca has to offer! Thanks for a wonderful day Miguel.

We had an amazing...
We had an amazing afternoon on the Mezcal and countryside tour. The first stop to the textile factory was very informative and interactive. Alvaro was a great guide with tons of knowledge about Mezcal and Oaxaca. We toured the beautiful agave fields, practiced using a machete, and learned the entire Mezcal production process from the field to the bottle. The Mezcal tasting was fun and informative, and the Mezcal all tasted great! Finally we shared a traditional Oaxacan lunch at a beautiful restaurant. Highly recommend this tour for a wonderful experience, and thank you so much Alvaro!

Amazing tour to Hierve el Agua, Mitla, wool rug making and mezcal tasting!
We joined this full‑day tour to Hierve el Agua in late April, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide, Zenon, set the tone right away—friendly, knowledgeable, and generous with information as we made our way to the farthest stop of the day.
Starting at Hierve el Agua was a great call. We had two hours to explore on our own, and everyone in the group found something that suited them—some tackled the steep 30‑minute hike to the bottom, while others relaxed in the turquoise pools or enjoyed from under the shade of the sparse trees. Even in the morning it was warm, so I can’t imagine doing this in the afternoon heat. Be sure to use sunscreen throughout the day, bring a hat or umbrella and wear comfortable shoes to walk.
From there, we continued to Mitla. It’s smaller than Monte Albán, but worth visiting in its own right. Zenon walked us through the history and symbolism with so much patience and depth, and he made sure to answer every question.
Lunch was a buffet with plenty of options. It was tasty, though quite busy with other tour groups. Afterward, we visited a family‑run wool rug workshop. Zenon translated as they explained their traditional rug‑making process, which was fascinating to see up close.
The highlight of the day for us was the artisanal mezcal tasting. Alvaro, who guided us through the production process and tasting, was charismatic, engaging, and knowledgeable. We ended up buying several bottles from their shop—great quality and much better prices than what we saw in the city.
Our final stop was the famous 2,000‑plus‑year‑old Tule Tree. Zenon shared its history, and we had a quiet moment to take in just how extraordinary it is.
Overall, we were genuinely impressed by the variety of experiences packed into one day and by the care and expertise of the team. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.

10/10 would recommend
Leyda was an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable and passionate about Mezcal and what it means to Oaxaca. My wife and I left with a deeper appreciation for the amount of effort it takes to produce them and how skilled mezcaleros are. The food, mezcales, tour, and general views were incredible. Would strongly recommend this experience - or following Leyda when she opens her own tour and experiences!

Amazing trip seeing lots of wildlife
We were very lucky and saw Manta-rays, Turtles, Spotted Dolphins, White-bellied Dolphins, Blue Whales, and Killer Whale. Our pilot was fantastic, and would definitely recommend using the company (just know that the animals are seasonal and wild, so you’ll not always see the same animals on each trip)

Highly recommend!
Hierve el Agua was a wonderful experience! Thanks to Viator, everything was perfectly organized so I could truly enjoy the beauty of this unique place. The transportation was excellent, the historical information was very interesting, and the special lunch was a lovely touch.
Our tour guide, Pavel, was very knowledgeable and made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommend!

This tour was perfect! We...
This tour was perfect! We met up early and avoided the crowds, first we did a small hike to observe the waterfall from below, then had some time to enjoy the view and swim in the natural pool. It was not crowded at all and Paul was very knowledgeable and nice, it felt like going on an excursion with a friend. Highly recommended!

Great trip!
Take snacks with you as there are only stalls at the top!
Remember sun cream as it’s really hot & hardly any shade.
We didn’t do the hike as we got there at midday so was super hot, instead just walked to a little hut you can see after dipping in the pools. The pools are not warm!!

Many travelers agree that if you only have time to visit one place in Mexico, it should be Oaxaca. The state has some of the country’s most iconic food—from its seven types of mole to flaky tlayudas (stuffed tortillas)—plus inspiring natural beauty and colorful architecture. Oaxaca tours let you explore like an expert, whether tasting street food in Oaxaca City or discovering the Monte Albán ruins. You can also learn to make mezcal on a plantation, marvel at a petrified waterfall, or head to the coast for surfing lessons.
