What are people saying about Oaxaca
Marikie_E, May 2026
Educational. Fun. Very social experience.
Educational and fun.
Well organized.
Wonderful to meet art icons in person and learn from them.
Learning about the history of this unique family and their contribution to the establishment of Oaxaca folk art not only in the Mexico but also globally was a privilege.
The family art studio experience is great - and being able to ask questions and view their art made this very special.
We were also given permission to take photographs after receiving explanations of the family's style of patterns.
I loved that I could go home with my own painted piece of art that was carefully wrapped.
Highly recommend.

Well worth the price!
There are cheaper ways to see Monte Alban than by booking a tour through Viator, BUT I think the guided tour with Miguel was well worth the additional price. He was so knowledgeable and engaging - I learned a lot more than if I had just read the plaques and listened to an audio guide. Getting there earlier in the day is great for beating the heat and crowds, and the company has a nice option to take later shuttles if you end up wanting to stay longer. For the site itself, it’s a must-see if you visit Oaxaca.

Daniel was an awesome guide!!
What an amazing experience! Daniel was professional, punctual, informative and tons of fun. He picked us up from our airbnb in a comfortable and clean suburban, plenty of room for the 7 of us. We toured Monte Alban, with details and insight from Daniel throughout the walk. Lots of steps up and down, with incredible views. The 2nd stop at Casa Ollin to learn about the multi-generational process of the artistry and craftsmanship involved in weaving was so much more than we expected, not to be missed. Then on to Hierve el Agua to see the natural pools and petrified waterfalls, spending a bit of time afterward for beverages and food. Then on to the mezcal tasting! After an informative tour to learn the lengthy process of making mezcal, we proceeded to taste, and taste, and taste some more. Throughout the day, Daniel remained fun and informative, never rushing us on to the next location. We returned after a full day, again right to our Airbnb. Overall, the tour was better than we expected. Thanks Daniel, as always, we are 'hopelessly devoted to you!' Debbie, Mary, Dena, Michelle, Scott, Dewayne and Jason

Excellent Food Tour!
The tour was very well thought out. We visited a variety of types of locations such as coffee shops, restaurants, local markets, street vendors. Our tour guide Aurora was amazing and very knowledgeable about the area and all of the food! She did a great job! Highly recommend

Authentic vegetarian Oaxacan cuisine.
Local and authentic vegetarian cuisine. Local products and knowledge.
Victor and Wendy were the perfect hosts, the pace was great and humour never failed. I learnt so much and the end result was impressive. Delicious foods with amazing salsas. Thanks Victor for sharing your knowledge and insight!

Great choose your own adventure tour!
We had a great day touring various artisan workshops. Felix made sure we were comfortable and had planned a great itinerary where we got to see different artisans who were all experts in their crafts. Felix was great at translating everything for us, and we enjoyed spending the day with him. We also got to see the Tule tree and visit a small mezcal distillery. We would highly recommend this tour!

We had such a lovely time...
We had such a lovely time on this tour! Our guide, Verónica, was amazing. She met us at our hotel and took us all around the city, tailoring the tour to our interests. We got to have some delicious meals at the markets too, which we were happy to let her facilitate. She was very generous with her time, attention, and knowledge; I'd absolutely recommend this tour to anyone seeking a warm welcome to beautiful Oaxaca.

Don’t Miss this Culinary Odyssey!
I truly found this food tour was excellent! Perhaps the best of this type I ever participated in. Papi was terrific - knowledgeable, interesting accessible and patient. He brought me to many wonderful food stations and I sampled a wide variety of delicious Mexican food. He also shared important information about the history, culture and trends in Oaxaca throughout our time together. I highly recommend him and this tour to all travelers seeking Oaxaca culinary experiences (and much more…)

Transportation as Promised
Our flight arrived early - but by the time we collected our luggage and got through customs - our driver was waiting with a sign with our name on it. We were 4 adults with 5 pieces of luggage. Van was as promised and clean and comfortable. Our driver even stopped at a local gas station store so I could pick up some beers. Driver was a great driver and got us to our location in a timely manner. Would highly recommend

This horse ride takes you...
This horse ride takes you through a beautiful landscape that crosses three rivers and ends at hot springs. Your guides, Willy and his father in law, are excellent and knowledgeable. The horses are very well behaved and the guides are experts in handling the horses. Overall, this is an amazing experience, especially if you love animals and nature.

Lovely, informative tour...
Lovely, informative tour that makes a great day trip from Oaxaca. We left promptly at 8:30 and returned to Oaxaca City a bit after 5 pm. We particularly loved Monte Alban and the pottery demonstration. Lunch was ~300 pesos apiece (buffet + one beer) + Monte Alban/monastery entrances (175 pesos apiece) + tip.

Extremely well worth it for a full day of events
Overall: extremely well worth the price for a full day tour. Highly recommend.
The tour is completely in Spanish, but even if you have a basic knowledge of the language, I still think it’s worth it! We went to Monte Alban for 2 hours which included an introduction and guided tour for about 40 minutes before having the remaining 1.25 hours to explore the ruins by our self’s. After monte alban, we went to a mezcal tasting session. You need to pay $20mxn for the tasting, but it was well worth it because they give you 9 different mezcals to try. You also get to see the distillery process which is beautiful and interesting to learn about. Next was. an alebrijes workshop where we got to shop and browse after hearing about the process of how they’re made. We then went to an absolutely incredible lunch place with a variety of traditional Oaxaca dishes including plenty of both vegetarian and meat options. The rate for this incredible buffet was $200 mxn which $100mxn alcoholic beverages. After lunch we were driven to a town known for its pottery, and that was absolutely wonderful. We had a brief demonstration of the original techniques that come from the region and were given a lot of time to shop. The prices at this pottery place were shockingly (seriously, shocking) affordable considering the beauty, quality, and time taken to make them. I thought we were done after the pottery place but no! Right before we finished, we were brought to a chocolate store outside of the Mercado 20 de noviembre and received a bunch of free samples. A wonderfully fun way to spend a day.
