Don’t Miss This
Andreas was our guide and was a masterful historian, a true believer and a legitimately good person. We were able to get outside the city to a less crowded area, and it was a wonderful, contemplative day. The ancient city of Corinth was incredible, and it was a remarkable feeling to be there. The experience is one we will never forget.

A must see!
It’s wonderful and well worth the time and money. There are a lot of stairs and you should be physically prepared, however there is no rush and you can enter and tour the monasteries at your own pace. The trip is long from Athens. You should plan on about a 14 hour day with 4-5 hours of travel time each way. They make a 30-40 minute stop for food, drink, and restroom on the way. There’s a lunch stop at the base before you begin your ascent (by vehicle) up to the monasteries, and a stop for dinner on the way back to Athens. Anyway, plenty of opportunities for food if you want to eat, and restroom breaks. The tour guides are amazing and supply lots of stories and historical information. The building of these monasteries is an incredible feat on its own. The fact that many are still operational and inhabited by monks and/or nuns is also amazing. Do it! You won’t be sorry!

It’s not a party boat,...
It’s not a party boat, which was ideal for us. Very chilled out but we did have fun with the crew on the way back. Lovely food in the first island we landed at. Chance to swim at the second one at sea. The third island you csn again disembark to explore the village and swim in the harbour but beware of the jellyfish. A young girl on our tour got a nasty sting. Fabulous day though with cheap drinks on board and a great crew

Touring At its Best
Our driver (Andreas) was cordial yet professional--and a skilled driver (which is a huge compliment for Greece, where drivers are insane). We look a whole day tour, but wanted considerable flexibility in our itinerary (some sites were more important to us than others), and we needed to be back to our cruise ship at a certain time. Andreas was entirely accommodating, and very creative in his improvisations. We should also mention that the restaurant included in the package was excellent--not a tourist trap, but a real authentic Greek "neighborhood" sort of place. Although Andreas was, officially, "just" a driver, he was quite knowledgeable & articulate; I don't know if a licensed guide would have been much better. We learned a great deal about Greece during our day-long tour. Skip the huge crowds on economical tours, and hire a driver!

Not seeing something you are looking for?

Regardless of where you travel, adding a few day trips to your itinerary allows you to see more destinations without constantly moving from hotel to hotel. Greece is no exception. Here, organized day trips are an especially good idea as many places aren’t easy to reach via public transit—from Athens, for example, you can explore an ancient site like Delphi or set sail with a day trip to the islands. Greece day trips are also a great way to familiarize yourself with a city upon arrival. Spending a day in Athens or Santorini in the company of a local expert, for instance, sets you up beautifully for independent exploration later.
