Great experience with James!

This was an amazing experience! We got to see so many cool things we wouldn’t have gotten to see otherwise. We had James as our tour guide and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. I very much appreciated the Taiwanese history lesson and cultural context that he provided us as we drove from location to location. I went with my wife and we were in great hands. James picked us up right out front of our hotel at our designated time. We visited the Yehliu Geopark, Shifen waterfall, got to release some lanterns in the Shifen old street area, and stopped at a few different overlooks on our way to the Jiufen old street area. James provided us just enough guidance to where we felt comfortable exploring on our own at the main locations. We got “free time” to explore at the Geopark, Shifen old street, and Jiufen old street which gave us a chance to check out the local shops and food. At the end of the 8 hours, we were dropped off back at our hotel. This was a great private day trip experience! Thanks, James!

Great tour with Tony....

Tony gave us a great tour. He is a knowledgeable guide and kept the day running quite well. We had a lot of rain but still had an amazing day. Geopark is fantastic, so unusual and some great photo opportunities with the formations and coastline. Jiufen was a great little town with amazing food and shopping - a little harder to experience in the rain, but still worthwhile. The waterfall is spectacular - due to the rain it was absolutely pumping, definitely take Tony's suggestions on photo spots as he took us places we would never have thought to go on our own. In Shifen, the lantern experience was fun - very touristy with a real production line, but a bit of fun and something we had never done before. Having a train go through the town while we were there was also amazing. So overall - highly recommend...... HOWEVER, the bus driver started the day reversing into a fence at the pick-up point (literally putting a hole in the bus and driving with a fence paling sticking out the back). He then spent most of the day driving while watching videos on this phone and eating. There were definitely some unsafe incidents and we didnt feel 100% safe. We've travelled extensively in Asia and this was less about the other drivers and more about this bus driver. We also had a few location drop offs/pick ups that were not ideal in torrential rain - having to walk a long way to and from the bus. Not much they can do about the weather, but long term planning on the drop off locations would definitely help when the weather isn't ideal. We did love all the stops on this one though!

Great City Tour

What a great way to see the important sites of Taipei. Aaron was an amazing guide, spoke English very well, was knowledgeable, and thoughtful. His suggestions of things to do and see were great. Took great pictures as well! He made sure that we got to do all the things we expressed interest in and never rushed us. Would happily recommend this tour and Aaron to my family and friends. It was by far our favorite tour while in Taiwan.

Taiwan or Ihla Formosa, “the beautiful island”.

The 5-Day Best of Taiwan is a treasure. First, it is perfectly designed to show the traveler a well balanced tour of the island with visits to Buddhist temples, shrines, lakes, national parks, beaches, and unbelievable coastal areas. Second, the selected five stars hotels (some spas in the mountains while others well located in the cities) were just perfect. Last, but most importantly, Peter (our tour guide) was outstanding. With his bright smile, perfect English, and upbeat optimism, he really was the heart of the tour. Peter has the amazing skill of describing the complexities of the history of Taiwan without bias and with the thorough knowledge of a Taiwanese person that has also lived overseas. He described the cultural identity of Taiwan from different angles. I was mesmerized listening to him. Our last day was affected by the weather and Peter had to change plans for a safe traveling and showed us instead towering cliffs and beautiful cascades. We traveled back to Taipei through the coastal highway with a majestic scenery. This was absolutely the best! Reflecting about this day, I believe that “we cannot control every storm in nature or in our lives, but we can choose where we place our attention”. Thank you Peter for doing that.

A great half day tour

Thank you to Molly for a wonderful tour! It was a pleasant drive out to Thousand Island Lake. We had lots of time to take in the beautiful views from different vantage points. From there we continued on to Pinglin where we had a lovely tasting of 3 local teas at Mr Huang’s tea shop. Then we finished at the Pinglin Tea Museum, which gives lots of interesting facts about the rituals of tea. This is a great way to spend an afternoon outside the city and especially so if you enjoy tea!
