1 Day in Los Cabos for First Timers

Curated by Kate Lowetha writer who never passes up a long weekend in Los Cabos.

Every time I've visited Los Cabos, I've found something new to do, from glass-bottom kayak tours to stunning new beaches to explore. With one day in Los Cabos, get an early start to your day with an activity, such as surfing or snorkeling, and then end the day with a Cabo sunset cruise. Getting out on the water is a must in this part of Baja California. You can visit the Arch of Cabo San Lucas (El Arco) and maybe even some sea lions sunning themselves on rocks nearby. Here's a 1-day Los Cabos itinerary for first-timers to get your travel planning started.

If you only have time for one thing, make it a food tour.

It’s typically warm and dry in Los Cabos, with high temperatures in the summer months.

Afternoon

The Cabo San Lucas food scene is fun to experience, with upscale restaurants with oceanfront views and family-owned taquerias serving slow-cooked meats and a wide selection of hot sauces. This afternoon, let a food tour show you all the hot spots where the locals eat; you won't have to wait for a table for lunch. Just be sure to pace yourself throughout the tour—there will be plenty of sampling along the way and paletas at the end are guaranteed.

Night

The best way to end your day in Los Cabos is on a sunset cruise. You'll find plenty of options leaving from Cabo San Lucas, some of which include hotel pickup and drop-off, so you can avoid renting a car. Pirate ship cruises are the perfect option for families, or there are party boats for those looking for an open bar and lively atmosphere. You can even book a private sunset sail on a catamaran if you want something more romantic.
