This was a very good experience if you want to learn about Namibia and get a brief overview of what is around Walvis Bay. The pick up at the cruise terminal was a little muddled as the guide we had been told to look out for wasn't the one we went with. We started off with another guide, changed and were then told we were doing a different tour. However, on a further check, this was rectified and we were really happy with the tour. Vincent is a wonderful young man who is passionate about his hometown and is a great ambassador for Namibia. We had a fabulous few hours and were very fortunate with our travelling companions. Thank you Vincent, and thank you too to Martina & John.

Experience the desert from the ocean
A pleasant experience, well worthwhile. Expect to see seals, dolphins and pelicans from close-up. Knowledgeable crew, great snacks and drinks, and being out on the ocean provides for a unique experience. The desolation of the desert is visible from a boat on the ocean.

Grand time touring with CJ along the coast and into the huge dunes which form the edge of the ocean. Great fun riding in comfortable 4x4 up, over, and around the massive sand piles. Drinks and snacks shared with others from our ship made for a great afternoon.

Deep, all-day dive into the local culture, geography and wildlife.
We were on a cruise and in Namibia for a day and a half and booked this tour outside of the cruise-provided excursions. I'm glad we did as reports from those who used the cruise excursions were uninspiring compared to our own. Our guide was Leon, driving a comfortable 4x4 with only ourselves as passengers, a good arrangement as we could divert and influence the locations within the constraints of the day. Leon was very knowledgable about Namibian culture, history and the wildlife, transporting us to a waterhole, weaverbird nests and some interesting geological formations, and providing a tasty picnic midday. At the end of the day he took us a an interesting detour to look at a local town and some unique geological phenomena nearby. All told, the excursion occupied about 8 hours and we learned a lot about Namibia, as well as seeing some interesting wildlife (Springbok, a father Ostrich with a dozen 'babies', several spectacular reptiles, and (of course) some of the strange and unique Namib plants. Given that we are the only passengers and that we covered a lot of ground (well over 250 km I suspect) these kinds of trips are never going to be cheap but, in terms of value, I am sure we fared far, far better than those on the cruise who chose one of the shorter, shallower excursions with no personalisation possible. So, highly recommended!
