Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve

Scotland
Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve
  • Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve is good for hillwalkers, botany buffs, and photographers.

  • There are no bathrooms in the national nature reserve. Killin is off the A827 west of Ben Lawers, and Kenmore is off the A827 east of Ben Lawers: both have public bathrooms.

  • You’ll need insurance and written permission to fly a drone in Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve.

  • Exercise caution around cattle, particularly when calves are present.

  • Highland mountains aren’t high by global standards, but changeable weather makes rescues and even fatalities surprisingly common. Even in summer, hillwalkers should carry waterproofs, multiple layers, emergency rations, a headlamp, a whistle, a map, and a compass, not to mention midge repellent.

  • Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve is not a good destination for travelers who rely on wheelchairs.
