What are people saying about San Juan

Interesting and delicious food tour!
Our guide, Lorna, was amazing! As a lifelong local, knew so many facts about the history of Puerto Rico as well as today's daily life. We visited multiple family owned and independent businesses and had authentic food and 3 cocktails. Especially loved Juanes run by mother and daughter. Best mofongo and pina colada- yum! Would 100 percent recommend this tour!!

Absolutely loved the tour. The history was fun and the food and drinks were fantastic. I was expecting small portions like I’m used to on food tours, but that was not the case with this tour. Narai, my tour guide, was wonderful and so kind. Very knowledgeable and even stayed afterwards just to talk to us about random questions we had. Would highly recommend if you want a nice little history lesson along with some good food!

We had a great time! The food was good and the staff made the experience really fun. It was really beautiful to see the ocean from both sides. We chose the 5:30pm time and glad we did. Nice to see with daylight at the beginning and to see the sun start to descend.

Great tour, outstanding guide could’ve used more beverages
First, the guide Andres was amazing. He was fabulous and funny, and very energetic and did a great job of keeping out folks together.
The places that you picked were very good, but some were better than others, so, although I’m giving a five star review, I’m also giving you some ideas below on which food stops were better than others and some suggestions. Also, it would be great to have more beverage options. I had read other reviews that echo what I’m feeling as well (that there was not enough opportunity for other beverages on the tour) so here is my detailed breakdown.
Again, the guide, Andres, was spot on, 100%, enthusiastic, funny, loved him! He is a keeper! The suggestions below have nothing to do with our guide. They just have to deal with the stops.
Please keep in mind that I used to be a tour guide, and so I understand it’s difficult when you have a big group and the rooms are limited, and, of course, the food offerings are limited, but here are some of my suggestions.
1. I really loved the first stop (cuarto sombras) and thought the combination of the coffee and the ham and cheese croissant was wonderful. And especially with the guava butter. It was a nice introduction to the culture of Puerto Rico and some of the history, but the food was also substantial. It was my favorite stop. And most other people said that as well. You don’t want your favorite stop to be the first stop, because you don’t want to end the tour on your least favorite stop!
2. The second stop was good, cafe el punto, and the ceviche was good. I loved the room we were in. It felt special, with all of the artwork. I think it would’ve been nice for Us to be able to wander around that space a little bit more, because It was a fun building with a lot of crafts and other elements that would’ve been interesting to take a look at for five minutes. I understand once you let folks walk around for five minutes it’s hard to corral everybody back! I’m wondering if that stop could’ve had some sort of special beverage. It would’ve been easy to serve, because he came out with individual cups for water and pitchers of Water. Even something like a batch-made Tamarindo or a Horchata or something even more in keeping with the African/Puerto Rican fusion. We did have water, but a little special beverage would’ve been sweet, And I think it would’ve really elevated that spot to be a favorite
3. Señor paleta. Again, this was a wonderful opportunity to have a paleta and to walk around, and to be in the shade a little bit while we were having a cold treat. I’d love the concept! And I used to look forward to the Paleta truck coming to my work in San Francisco. And picking a flavor! But we only had one flavor. I understand you arrive at the stop and you say “I’m here with 12 people and I need my paletas.” But it would’ve been nice to be able to have maybe two options, rather than just one flavor.
3. The 4th stop (el patio del Sam), where we made our own mofungo was the most disappointing. We’ve had excellent Puerto Rican food, and this was just… bland. The concept of making your own Mofongo was really fun. But even the location of our group, against the back of the wall at one long table, felt a bit sterile. The piña coladas here were good, but nothing to write home about.
4. The Choco bar stop was excellent! What a wonderful history and story. But again, this is where we could’ve done with another beverage. I love the Chocolate and the great story about the comic books. Also, I understand it’s difficult to get a room, but this place suffered from the same problem as the last one, the room we were sitting in was right next to the bathrooms, it even had a bit of a funny smell. But I know that it’s tricky to get a table for everybody where our guide is talking loudly about the history and we’re not disturbing other customers. This is a tricky one. Because if you were right upfront, when people were walking in, it would be hard to hear him. Too bad the bathroom was in the back. I loved the comic books on the walls. And it was great for him to be able to explain it.
If you added a beverage here, a choco martini or even a mocktail, it would really make a difference, because remember this is your last stop! If you want people to have a wonderful impression, feed them the chocolate, but also give them a wonderful beverage as their last taste of the tour! If you look at adding an adult beverage there, it’s only $14 pp and adding something like a Tamarindo or a Horchata at the other spot would probably be much less than that if they make it in a batch!
Just adding those two beverages would really elevate the tour, and not be that big of a cost to you.

Overall, good informative...
Overall, good informative walking tour. David was very knowledgeable and personable. I'd recommend if you're looking for a general tour of San Juan. It ended at the fort if you had additional time to explore but was not included in this tour. This experience was exactly what we were looking for and left time to see other things before heading back to the ship.

Awesome Experience!
Wow, what a gem! My wife and I came across this excursion the day before we left San Juan.
Jose was the best tour guide that one could ask for! You can tell that he really takes pride in his island and wants to give his guests a great experience. We learned alot due to his history knowledge and familairity on all areas. This was the perfect way to end our vacation and we learned so much on this tour.
Thanks again Jose on your attention to detail and for being very accommodating! You were the best!

The gold standard of service! 10 stars!!
Hector and Victor were absolutely outstanding. From start to finish, everything was seamless. They were prompt, organized, and incredibly attentive, making sure every detail was handled without us ever having to ask.
What really stood out was how personal the experience felt. Even in a group setting, they made sure we felt individually taken care of. Our drinks were always topped off, they consistently checked in to ensure we were safe and enjoying ourselves, and they created an atmosphere that felt both elevated and effortless.
The entire experience was flawless. We got amazing pictures, everything ran smoothly, and there’s honestly nothing they could have done to improve it. That level of execution is rare.
If I could give 10 stars, I would without hesitation. Hector and Victor are exceptional, and I will choose them every single time.

Very friendly
I booked the wrong time for the tour I wanted to take through a third party (viator). Bacardi discovered the error on check in, told me how to correct it, made sure it got corrected and then made sure I got on the tour. Excellent customer service! …Tour was good too!

A Perfect Blend of Flavor, Culture, and Hospitality in Old San Juan
We had an amazing experience on the Old San Juan Food Tour, and a huge part of that was thanks to Will! From the very beginning, he created such a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for everyone in the group. His energy was friendly, engaging, and genuine—it felt like exploring the city with someone who truly loves what they do.
What really stood out was how seamlessly Will blended history with the food experience. He didn’t just take us from place to place—he brought Old San Juan to life with his cultural insights, and context that made each stop even more meaningful. Every question we had was answered thoughtfully, and you could tell he was incredibly knowledgeable.
The pacing of the tour was perfect, the food selections were delicious and authentic, and Will made sure everyone felt included and taken care of throughout. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or have been to Puerto Rico before, this tour is a must—and if you get Will as your guide, you’re in for something special.
Highly recommend!

Good Times
Ferry passage was long. After we disembarked, first stop was Tamarindo beach for snorkeling. You can go along with the group or you can do your own snorkeling. Next stop is Flamenco beach for great food, drinks, souvenirs, and sun bathing. Beautiful beach! They provide chairs and umbrellas. You spend most of your time here enjoying the day. The crew was very polite and friendly. Tito was excellent. Snorkeling instructor was very patient and detailed. We had a spectacular day.

Enjoyed swimming. Hike...
Enjoyed swimming. Hike was a little more than expected (I need a cane to walk) but our guide was more than helpful and got me over the rough spots. The roast pig was delicious and I enjoyed the local music. Although it didn’t matter to me, the tour is advertised as providing water, snacks, and either beer, wine, or sangria. We got water but that was all. Again, that didn’t affect our overall enjoyment of the tour but it wasn’t exactly as advertised.

Sights, History, and Relaxing activities
Dr. Jose Morales, is a superb tour guide and was very knowledgeable of the area and Puerto Rican history. He tied where we were along the tour route and the history over 6 centuries of human activities from indigenous (Taino) to Spanish and inclusion of African slavery to US hegemony in this hemisphere. He kept the interest on each walkabouts select areas from San Juan to west coast to the light house and bioluminescent bay. The day ended with pleasant exhaustion, mind full and much exercise.
