Mt. Rigi Tours and Tickets - page 2

This is a must see. A great few days of rest and relaxation. My husband and I did this half way through our Honeymoon as a reset.

Bring your hiking shoes and walk along the beautiful Alpine trails. We walked along a beautiful trail and had magnificent views all to ourselves. If you are not a walker or hiker you can still enjoy the ride to the top, but it still does involve a significant uphill walk to the transport area.

The boatride from Lucerne to Vitznau was very scenic. From there we took the mountain train up to Mt. Rigi. The views were fantastic & provided ample opportunity to take GREAT photos while touring the mountain top. Next, we descended partway back down to Kaltbad, where we had a terrific lunch at restaurant Alpina - traditional Swiss dish rosti. We also got some barley w/herbs soup. Both were super delicious. We think this is the only actual restaurant there, other than a grab-n-go. Next we spent about one hour at the Kaltbad spa., lounging in the warm pools. Just be advised that cameras & phones are not allowed in the spa areas, so don't think you can take a picture of the mountains from the pool like you see in the advertisements. That was a bit of a letdown for us. Finally we made back down for the boatride back to Lucerne. Be advised, as of this review the boat dock at Weggis was under construction, so we needed to take a bus from Weggis to Hertenstein to catch the boat back to Lucerne. I was disappointed that Viator did not update us on this issue. The only way I found out about it was by talking to the boat's ticket checker during our ride to Vitznau. I was actually asking her about return times to Lucerne & she was kind enough to advise us that we'd need to board the boat at Hertenstein (or make our way back to Vitznau, which was further away when we come down off the mountain). We ran into some other Americans while heading down the mountain & they had no idea that Weggis was closed. I firmly that they may have missed the boat ride back to Lucerne had they not ran into us. As this was our first excursion, I'd say the biggest hurdle was understanding (and planning around) the various schedules (boat, train, bus). I can see scenarios where someone could get stuck out there and have to spend the night in a hotel if they're not savvy about the timelines and how they all interplay. Nonetheless it was a really enjoyable excursion & well worth your time.

This was a really nice excursion. Easy to find the boat, followed the time schedule. The train was right there. Really enjoyed Mt Rigi. Walked back down to the next station and caught the train to the Rigi Karlstad and down the cable car down. That was a little disappointing as being so many people crammed in the cable car.

Train ride up was quite scenic. Spa was excellent, clean and spacious. Views from top of Mt Rigi and spa are spectacular. Plan to spend the day there.

The boat ride and cog wheel train were very fun and the weather cooperated. Mount Rigi was beautiful and worth the experience. However, the cable car ride down to Weser was a total bust. Packed in standing room only with no seating was horrible and hot. That was a Covid/germ incubator. Don’t recommend cable car; train both ways to and from the top.

It’s pretty much a transportation to and from the sights. There was informative commentary from the guide on the way out, but not much in the way back. Everything was smoothly explained about where we were going, the tickets/vouchers,… the only thing I’d say was that I wished they would have given us a feeling for how far the meeting point was for the return. Having never been there, it was much farther than where we thought. But overall, it was a good trip that allowed you individual time to explore. And the guide did give us suggestions.

We had a fantastic tour visiting Mt. Rigi, Lucerne with our Boat ride. Cecilia was a great tour guide and very knowledgable. We loved the bus trip, cable car and cog train parts of the trip and found we had of lot of our own free time to hike and look around on the tour and it was very well timed. The scenery was beautiful on the mountain and also on the boat trip. We thoroughly recommend this trip
