What are people saying about Kyoto

Our tour guide was...
Our tour guide was awesome. I learned so much about geishas and Japan in general. He answered all of my questions (and I had a lot). We even got to see a couple geishas on the tour (although our guide said that can be pretty hit or miss). Overall, I would highly recommend!

Excellent!!
This is a fabulous tour!! One of my best experiences in Kyoto.
Richard was our tour guide and he was excellent. He is a wonderful storyteller, as he is intelligent, knowledgeable, passionate, patient and a cool guy ;) Also, he communicates in English very well.
Despite the rain and a bit cold that day, it was truly a pleasure to listen to Richard and to participate in this tour. He showed us many historic parts of the beautiful Kyoto city, and he explained to us the history and the culture of Maiko and Geisha. We even got lucky and we saw a few geisha that night walking the streets of Gion district. Wow!! It was very special to witness and almost surreal.
Richard kept things interesting and fun during the entire tour, and he managed to keep everyone engaged and excited, even the two little girls that were on this night tour with us. Bravo! :)
I would highly recommend booking this tour with Richard. You will not regret it.
Thank you Richard!!
I would gladly take this tour again or any other tours guided by you.
Also, thank you for the delicious dessert and the great recommendations for places to eat.

Wonderful Tour, Even in the Rain
I really enjoyed this walking tour. Hiro was an excellent guide—his English was perfect and he shared a lot of history, which made the experience far more meaningful.
Despite the rain, it was a wonderful evening. The group was small, which made it easy to hear, move comfortably, and stay engaged throughout.
While some of the views were limited by the weather, it didn’t take away from the experience at all. In some ways, the rain added to the atmosphere.
Overall, a very well-run tour with a knowledgeable and engaging guide. I’m very glad I went.

Bamboo forest at night? Anytime! I'll be there!
Our guide Kelle was so much fun, as he walked us through the neighborhood of the bamboo forest, sharing ghost stories along the way. All the other tourists had left for the night, so we were alone in the bamboo forest. That was so amazing! I wanted to just sit and meditate, but alas, had to keep moving. Still, our group was pretty small, and friendly, so we simply enjoyed walking around in the dark together, well, when we weren't feeling that tickle of hair standing up on the back of our necks...

Best way to enjoy this shrine
This was an awesome tour. Our guide Yuka was amazing and made the entire day very enjoyable, as well as informative. The hiking trail is easy enough for someone with limited experience and was so much better than just taking the main entrance to the shrine, seeing a rural side of Kyoto, bamboo forest and small local shrines along the way. Highly recommend this tour and ask for Yuka.

Kyoto food tour
Wow what a great food tour. Louis was an amazing guide, interesting and knowledgeable about Kyoto/Japanese history and he made us feel very welcome. The food was exceptional and both of us tried new drinks which didn’t disappoint. A+++ tour for sure! Louis also recommended great places for us to see and try out over time we have in Kyoto. In fact we went straight to one of the whiskey bars he recommended after the tour and loved it.

Wonderful local guide and host!
J was such a kind, thoughtful and fun guide! Being from Kyoto he provided great history and shared his favorite spots. He handled everything with such care and couldn’t be happier! We topped the evening off with a memorable karaoke duet! It was a such a wonderful time. Thank you, J!

Perfect unique tour (a lot of food, Chicano was a great guide)
On the back of a great tour in Osaka we almost cancelled the Kyoto tour. Glad we did not cancel. Chika was a great tour and the variety of restaurants spanned a larger area. Including the unique sake tasting was the cherry on top and really was a great way to taste multiple different types along with great food. This is a lot of food and we were stuffed by the end so come hungry.

Amazing evening with Maiko
This was the highlight of our time in Kyoto. The evening started with a walk around the area, pointing out some hidden gems such as the school timetable which we would never have found on our own. Then dinner at a local restaurant with an hour and half visit from Maiko, she sang and danced and played games with us and answered all of our questions about her life, absolutely fascinating to hear about and witness this old way of entertainment, very special evening and worth the money.
