What are people saying about Istanbul

Excellent Tour!!
Wow! I wish we would have had time to do the sunset cruise too. This was an awesome trip. The yacht was beautiful and there was plenty of seating. The crew brought yummy snacks, drinks and you could purchase alcohol if you liked. Our tour guide clearly knew Istanbul and the history. He was non-stop on the mic telling us all about the different buildings, the history and was extremely entertaining and charismatic. We had a shop stop on the Asian side (I do wish was a smidge longer) and we had about 30 min to explore.
I highly recommend this particular tour because it was not super packed like many of the other big boats we saw on the water. We had about 20 people versus over 100 on the other boats.

Şule was a fantastic tour...
Şule was a fantastic tour guide who proudly shared with us her love of Istanbul and its food (and its cats!). She provided a great first introduction to the city, sharing its history and culinary delights. Once the tour was finished, she made sure we had countless recommendations for where to eat next. Şule made my fiancee and I feel very welcome, so we would highly recommend taking a food tour with her anytime!

The Highlight of My Entire Trip to Istanbul
I can’t recommend this experience enough! If you’re trying to decide whether it’s worth it, the answer is absolutely yes.
The tour begins by meeting in front of the Central Post Office, where our guide, Zeynep, first introduced us to a famous local specialty. She called it a Turkish “meatball,” although it isn’t a meatball at all! It’s a huge mound of a delicious mixture that the owner scoops onto a lettuce leaf and finishes with a squeeze of fresh lemon. The owner has become something of a TikTok celebrity, and I was told he’s known for making people cry if they don’t grab their food quickly enough—kind of like the famous “Soup Nazi” from Seinfeld! Thankfully, I got mine in time, and it was absolutely delicious.
Just around the corner, we stopped at a Turkish delight shop. I’m so glad we did because I had no idea there were so many varieties beyond the little jelly cubes most of us know. We sampled two completely different kinds, and both were fantastic.
From there, it was only a short walk to the Whirling Dervish ceremony. The ceremony lasted about an hour and was a beautiful, peaceful cultural experience. There’s also a small museum in the reception area where you can learn more afterward. I’ll admit that after a full day of sightseeing, the calm atmosphere made it a little difficult to keep my eyes open—but it was still something I’m very glad I experienced.
After the ceremony, we returned to the meeting point, where a van took us to a neighborhood restaurant that I never would have found on my own. This dinner was, without question, the highlight of my entire trip to Istanbul. We were served an incredible spread of mezes, kebabs, a refreshing purple basil drink, and so many dishes I never would have known to order as a solo traveler. The restaurant was filled with locals rather than tourists, and the owner personally served our meal, making the experience feel incredibly authentic.
One of the best parts of the evening was sharing dinner with other travelers. In just three days in Istanbul, there is no way I could have sampled so many different foods by myself. Even better, at the end of the night the van dropped everyone off near their accommodations, making the experience completely stress-free.
Zeynep was absolutely wonderful. Throughout dinner she answered every question we had about Istanbul, shared recommendations for her favorite local spots, and afterward even provided us with a list of places to visit during the rest of our stay.
But what I’ll remember most wasn’t just the food or the ceremony—it was watching Zeynep herself. Every time someone loved a dish she introduced us to, her face lit up with genuine happiness and humble pride. It was obvious that she wasn’t simply leading a tour; she sincerely wanted us to experience and appreciate her culture. Her excitement over our enjoyment was so genuine, joyful, and heartfelt that it made this one of the most memorable experiences of my trip.
My only regret is that I booked this tour on my last day in Istanbul. If I could do it again, I would book it on my very first day. It would have given me an incredible introduction to Turkish food, culture, and local recommendations that I could have enjoyed throughout the rest of my visit. Do yourself a favor and book this tour with Zeynep!

Highlights of Istanbul
Our group of 4 were fortunate to have “OJ” as our private tour guide seeing the highlights of Istanbul. She was attentive to our needs and wishes. Took us to the Cistern which was not on our itinerary but something we wanted to see. Knowledgable, articulate, pleasant and fun best describe this guide and experience.

Do ittt
As a solo female traveler this was a great nighttime option. Ezig helped make sure I was prepared for the private transfer (with other cruise goers). She greeted me when I got there and even found me and asked if I wanted pictures outside. At the end she even gave me a cute mocktail with a sparkler! The food was mid but the experience was well worth the 3 hours (that flew by). Between the performers, views, and staff the food gets an overview and I still give the experience 5 stars.

Amazing Tour
Great tour! Our guide, Umut, was incredibly knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts throughout the experience. He also had a great sense of humor, which made the tour even more enjoyable. He was kind, courteous, and gave us plenty of time to explore each location at our own pace. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It is filled with rich history and detail. The sights were amazing and the guide was knowledgeable, professional, friendly and went out of his way to accommodate us. His name was J. Good pace, inside, detailed knowledge, funny, interesting. We had a great adventure.

Breathtaking tour
The sunset boat tour was amazing! A nice way to cool off after a hot day walking the Istanbul streets. You will see both the European and Asian sides with all the breathtaking views! Snacks and drinks available as well. Turkish hospitality is the best.

It's a wonderful...
It's a wonderful experience. We were a v small group so had no trouble listening to our guide who had a lovely tone to his voice. Both mosques are stunning. A great deal of information came from our guide so we immersed ourselves in history culture and tradition.

Must-Do Tour of Topkapi
Wonderful tour of Topkapi our whole family enjoyed. First, all the skip-the-line aspects are wonderful, but our guide MERT was FANTASTIC!! He was so friendly and knowledgeable and gave just the right amount of information. We learned exactly what we needed to appreciate the history and culture of Topkapi without it being too much. He was also very good at answering questions from the group. We are a family of three but the total on our small group tour was 7 people which is great size. Mert made sure we saw all the highlights, gave great talks along the way, and made sure we knew we could stay longer and linger in the palace past our time with him. I hope Walks in Istanbul reads this review to see what a wonderful tour guide Mert is! Highly recommend this tour and this company!

Large Yacht Cruise
First, just details that aren’t in listing, it’s a mega yacht (2 levels) so lots of people. The company is great at communicating the meeting point beforehand. On board they served drinks and snacks while a tour guide narrated what you are passing first as you cruise up the European side, then again returning in the Asian side. The crew were all very nice and our family enjoyed our time on the sunset cruise.

An enjoyable way to see Istanbul and learn at the same time! A+
This is a great way to see Istanbul-
Relaxing, informative and enjoyable. Murat was an excellent history teacher and we really enjoyed the background on what we were seeing. My only advice, if you’re wearing short pants or shorts, watch out for the steps up inside - both my friend and I got burns on our legs from the sandpaper-like surface. But I would highly recommend!
