Personable with excellent views
My husband and I ended up on a private tour with George (well, one of the George’s, there are two). He drove us around Inverness and stopped at some amazing picturesque panoramic views prior to our whiskey tastings. Balblair was hands down our favorite tour and It was a completely unexpected treat. The guide at the facility was very personable and informative. We learned so much about the whiskey process and the stills used to create these masterpieces. Although we didn’t tour Glenmorangie, we enjoyed the tasing and gift shop. Also, Isaac at Singleton was incredibly knowledgeable and allowed us to sample whiskeys that we would have never been able to try at home in the US due to availability (or lack thereof). Side note, tip your guide. We asked Google if it was appropriate and Mr. Google lied to us. We neglected to tip George and he was amazing.

Outstanding Tour!
My husband and I took this tour with Mo as our guide. We had an incredible time! Mo was informative and friendly. She made us feel comfortable with asking any questions we had and because it was just us and her, she was eager to show us everything she possibly could. We loved Mo and all the sights we got to see! Take this tour!

George is a cool dude.
George was very flexible with my wife and me. He talked briefly with us when he picked us up and quickly determined our interest. From our conversation, he suggested a game plan for events which turned out to be wonderful. We very much appreciated his depth of knowledge, wiliness to field questions and relaxed attitude. George was so knowledgeable and gave us so much background and historical information it made the tour truly unforgettable!

We were surprised about...
We were surprised about the size of the tour group. It was my family and another couple so the tour was very relaxed. And since it was a small group, we spent more time at each place. Our tour guide, Mike, was awesome! He was funny and anecdotal. He checked on us regularly making sure we were comfortable in the van. It felt like a friend was doing the tour. Our favorite part was the stop at a small beach at Lochness. There were no crowds so we were able to get beautiful photos of the loch. I would highly recommend this tour! It was a perfect blend of small and well known spots in Scotland.

Best rainy day yet!
We loved this tour! Although it was a cold, rainy June day, it let us know how the locals feel there. Saw beautiful places, and learned a lot from our knowledgeable tour guide George, who also has a good sense of humor. I would hands down recommend it to anyone, and would take the tour again if traveling with a friend.

Best guide(Stuart) in Scotland! Private tour well worth it.
Stuart was a great guide! He was very knowledgeable. He made us see the history of the Culloden Battfield in a whole new way. He told it almost like a story. Incredible what took place there. Clava Cairns were amazing as well. We seen a lot of people walking around probably not even understanding the history of what took place or with a larger guided group where every one might not be able to hear everything. He had an answer for every question and had a great sense of humor and was kind and thoughtful. My family really enjoyed the view of the Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. My only regret is that we didn’t start the tour until 10. Next time I would start earlier and see and hear more. Thank you for the wonderful day Stuart!

No regrets and will book again
This experience will teach you the history of Scotland while providing a fun experience. George did an amazing job explaining the significance of each site and really helped us to understand the history and appreciate the sacrifices people have made in search of freedom . He was funny and answered all of our questions, and did not laugh at our dumb questions. At no point did we feel rushed which allowed us to take each experience in fully. He made sure we were comfortable at all times and he is a great storyteller. By the end of the tour we felt like we were part of his family as he took great care to make sure we had a great time. I would recommend this tour to everyone, you will not regret it. I would definitely book other tours with him when I return. Be prepared to walk and dress appropriately as you are outdoors for extended periods of time.

This was a really great tour. Our guide was knowledgeable, passionate, fun, and full of wonder and reverence for our destinations. This was one of our favorite tours during our trip! At each location we felt like we were given enough history, culture and context to really get a good feel for the big picture, which made our appreciation for the sites that much more profound and enjoyable.

True Scotland
Before our tour my wife said I hope our guide wears a kilt. Richie did indeed wear one and was a fantastic driver and guide! Right away he asked us where we wanted to spend extra time and customized the tour for us. We saw Clava Cairns first and learned about the ancient people who built them. None of us has seen Outlander but we will after the trip.
Next to the Culloden Battlefield where Richie explained what took place there. No need to tour the museum as we left having learned a lot.
Along our route we saw beautiful Highlands with sheep and Highlands cattle or Coos.
We had time for brunch and to relax.
Then on to Loch Ness to search for the monster. Don't take the boat trip because you can see from the road!
We pre-purchased tickets to Urquhart Castle and after the movie spent time exploring. We also did a local gin tasting and explored the Beauly Priory church ruins.
An awesome just packed with adventure and beauty!

Best way to see the Scottish Highlands
This was our second tour with Avril's Travels and it didn't disappoint. Lorraine guided the tour expertly imparting a wealth of historic information laced with humor. Such an enjoyable day. While other tour groups waited in line, Lorraine's knowledge of the sites allowed us to be ahead of the queue. A fabulous day. Would highly recommend this tour.

Hands down, one of the...
Hands down, one of the best tours we have taken in Scotland! Our guide was a wealth of information and tailor made everything to exactly what we wanted— more or less time at the various sites. As we were off the cruise ship he was also very cognizant of our all-aboard time and got us back to the ship with time to spare! Highly recommend this to one and all! A great tour! And George was the best guide as well— if you get a chance take his tour!!!

Most excellent tour with the best guide!
Outstanding tour with local driver that knew the history and the stories of the area. Depending on how many sign up for the tour you may ended up with a personal private tour as my daughter and I did. This allowed us to spend more time at the castle so we could fit in a full tour of the castle, the gardens and see the incredible falconry show- it can not be missed and other tours don't spend enough time at the castle for this to happen! Johnny was the best ;-) I have mobility issues and he worked around that
