We loved this tour! Although it was a cold, rainy June day, it let us know how the locals feel there. Saw beautiful places, and learned a lot from our knowledgeable tour guide George, who also has a good sense of humor. I would hands down recommend it to anyone, and would take the tour again if traveling with a friend.

George was a fantastic guide; had a great, dry humor and was very informative. He made suggestions about a possible change to our itinerary and let our small group decide which option we preferred. I would happily book with him again if returning to the Inverness area.

George was a joy to travel with. He has so much knowledge and passion, and it really made the day special, so much so that as we walked back to the ship with the other group who was on the excursion, we were all talking about coming back to the Highlands and booking a longer tour with his company. This tour was perfect as a shore excursion with no concerns about timing, and nimble response to the weather. We really loved our experience and couldn't recommend it enough.

Sarah was very informative about all the areas that we visited. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who is or is not an Outlander fan.

This was a great tour. Our guide, George, made the day fun. The small size of the group helped make the tour much more personal than the typical excursion. In addition to expanding on the Outlander connection to the sites we visited, he also provided historical context from the perspective of someone who grew up in the area and knows it well. We learned a lot about Scottish history, and George left us wanting to come back. We were lucky to have great weather. The visit to Urquhart Castle was amazing, with a breathtaking view of Loch Ness. I highly recommend!

Wonderful guide very knowledgeable about the area. Exciting for Outlander fans. Explained all about cairns.

A wonderful introduction to Scotland’s Highlands. Our guide Sara was great. She provided in-depth history and cultural of the area.

The tour operator put us in the wrong van so we ended up on the wrong excursion. Bucket list locations that I’ll never have the opportunity to see again were missed. The driver then told us we weren’t missing much! We received no apology or explanation. So we paid for an excursion we did not receive. Cannot recommend- so disappointed.

George, our guide was very thorough and entertaining in his story telling of the areas we went to. I really enjoyed hearing about Clava Cairns, the clans and the Highlands history. This was an amazing experience and I would recommend this to all who visit the area.

We spent the day with Sarah. She is a wonderful tour guide, very knowledgeable and a great driver. I highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide Allistar was amazing. Very knowledgeable. My favorite part was Clava Cairns. Took beautiful pictures and touched the stones. Everything else was just as spectacular. We saw so much of the countryside and the guide was very good about changing plans as needed. They picked us up perfectly and back to the ship on time. Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic trip! George was amazing! So much knowledge and great stories about all of the sites!
David_W, Sep 2024
Our guide George was the best part of this tour. Personable and very knowledgeable. The only Outlander connection was a short rainy visit to Culloden battlefield.
Ray_P, Sep 2024
This was a magical day with a fascinating guide in George whose knowledge of history and folklore nit mention Outlander was simply beyond anything we could have wished for. George was flexible and change the itinerary due to weather and was all in all inspirational. We have traveled the world and this is one of the best trips we have ever taken! If you only do one thing in the Highlands the this should be it!! Thank you George and Go Highland

Loch Ness was so much bigger than I imagined. Sarah drove well and gave us excellent commentary. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole day.
Carolyn_S, Jul 2024
Our tour guide, George, was so very knowledgeable. He took us to all the places we really wanted to see and filled us in on all the local lore.
Catherine_S, Jul 2024
Very enjoyable tour! Highly recommended by the two of us, my husband and myself! We really enjoyed the Scottish kilt worn by our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable!
Misty_S, Jul 2024
My husband, teenage son and I had the best tour experience and it was all thanks to our guide George Sr. What a wonderful treat to have such a sweet, knowledgeable man tour our family (+ another couple) all over the Scottish Highlands. Thank you so much for stopping at the Coos and enduring my crazy obsession of them. This experience could not have been any better.... well maybe hope for no rain at the battlefield.

Walking the castle was a memorable experience. Visiting the Outlander areas was interesting. The guides were firendly and knoweledgeable. There was flexibility in the tour.

By far the best tour I’ve ever been on. Our guide, Sarah, was absolutely wonderful, very engaging, and knowledgeable of the Scottish Highlands. Her local knowledge of all the sites we visited made us feel like we were family visiting from the USA.
The banter with her dad, owner of the tour company and who was hosting another group in a different van, was sweet and again played into feeling like we were family.
The Clava Cairns surpassed my imagination with all the stories that were shared about its history and the mysteries behind it. My mom who is an avid Jaime & Claire fan from the TV show, loved hearing from Sarah how true to the cultures and histories the author was to honoring the Scottish Highlands.
The war museum was interesting and I appreciated reading about the two sides of the war, the British & the Jackobites (spelling?).
Similarly the castle on the banks of Loch Ness was incredible.
Do be prepared to pay for the entrance fees to both museums. It’s worth the 10 pounds.
By the time our tour ended, our entire group were sad to leave and planning to come back to spend more time in the Highlands.
I should mention we were on a cruise and it was super easy to locate Go Highlands tour group as we departed our ship. Also the small caravan that holds 8, was a brilliant change from the larger tours we’ve done as part of our cruise.
I HIGHLY recommend Go Highlands and this tour through the area when your travels bring you to this glorious country and area. When you do, please send my love to Sarah and her family!

Best tour and guide in our experience. George is knowledgeable in Scottish history, Outlander, Whisky, and more. A very charismatic and engaging guide. Was on time, maximized our experience at each stop and in route. He is a passionate ambassador for Scotland! Known by the locals at every stop.

Outstanding tour. George and his humor and knowledge simple made our vacation. Would definitely book him again!

Alistar Kennedy from Go Highlands tours was an excellent tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable and gave wonderfully descriptive historical information at each stop. It’s fantastic to have a tour guide walk with you through every location and help with taking photos of our group. Felt very private and comfortable.

I was on a cruise and we had a stopover in Invergordon.
I had a wonderful day with my guide. He took me safely to all the sites offered in the ad, and even more! His explanations were very interesting and he had answers to all my questions. I highly recommend this expedition.
Diana_L, Oct 2023
We had a great time on this excursion. Our guide was Alister, he was very knowledgeable and fun to spend the day with. They picked us up at the ship and got us back with plenty of time to spare. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Timothy_F, Sep 2023
Outstanding day... our guide was one of the best we ever had. Great deal of knowledge of the history of the area

After 4 years back in Scotland and had a trip again with George. Again a great experience. With a small group this time and i must say, go for it. More flexibele and interaction with the group. Great fun.

I wouldn’t recommend this tour to anyone , I booked this bade on trust I had for viator, but I wouldn’t oil again , first driver put us in small and dark windows van then took us to residential area to pick up other people, then he didn’t do anything base on viator itineraries and missed couple of attractions, he had very thick accents and everyone had a hard time understanding him , when we complained he said original tour owner pass this to him since he didn’t have space and he owned different company , and he does what he like , I ask for refund since my day was ruined , I called viator no help
Response from Host, Jul 2023
HI Heidi.
I’m deeply sorry you didn’t enjoy your Tour. When your last minute booking came in to us from Viator I was going to simply cancel it, However I also knew that it would have been almost impossible for you to get another booking for that day. George Ritchie from GHD Tours has worked with us many times – he is always well prepared in his kilt and if you care to look at his website, you will see that he has many outstanding reviews. His brand new Ford Tourneo Minibus can hardly be described as a “small and dark windows van”.
We feel that your highly negative review is very harsh even after having received a refund from us.
