Explore Hull's intriguing back story on this self-guided audio tour across the river from downtown Ottawa. Once Canada's crime capital known as 'le petit Chicago', Hull supplied liquor and late-night vices to Ottawa revelers while growing as a lumber town with a rocky, co-dependent relationship with Canada's capital. Walk from the Canadian Museum of History along Ottawa River shores discovering Wright's Town founded by settler Philemon Wright, learning about entrepreneur Ezra Butler Eddy who built his fortune making fire matches, and strolling Hull's infamous 'Strip' where young people from Ottawa came to party. Hear about the catastrophic Great Fire of 1900, timber slides, lumber barons' massive timber operations, meet Algonquin Chief Tessouat who ruled the Ottawa River in the 1600s, and enjoy spectacular views of Ottawa and Chaudiere Falls on this 75-minute circular tour that reveals Hull's dramatic past and its significance to indigenous peoples, explorers, and lumber barons alike.

Victoria’s largest public park is a beloved urban oasis, steeped in natural splendour and cultural history. On this self-guided audio tour, you’ll discover its distinctive landscapes, from Gary Oak meadows and shimmering lakes, to vibrant gardens and coastal viewpoints. The tour begins at the corner of Douglas and Southgate Streets, marked by a log sign and historic maritime artefacts. You’ll weave through the park’s varied terrain, passing Dawn Redwoods, a medieval-style stone bridge, and tranquil lakes filled with waterfowl and turtles. Along the way, you’ll find yourself traversing the same land that First Nations peoples stewarded for thousands of years, evident in ancient burial cairns and symbolic public art. The tour ends at the cricket pitch, where matches have been played since the 1850s, and nearby Cook Street Village where you can explore further.

Niagara Falls isn’t just a natural wonder – it’s where raw power and human ambition came together. On this self-guided audio tour, you’ll discover how these thundering waters sparked a revolution in electricity, inspired death-defying stunts, and concealed an unsolved murder mystery – all while strolling through some of North America’s most stunning gardens. The tour starts at Oakes Garden Theatre, a Beaux Arts amphitheater named after gold-mining tycoon Sir Harry Oakes, whose unsolved 1943 murder in the Bahamas remains one of Niagara’s greatest mysteries. You’ll hear stories about barrel riders, tightrope walkers who performed stunts blindfolded, and the seven-year-old boy who miraculously survived going over the falls wearing only a life jacket. The tour ends at the War Memorial, which commemorates those who served in both World Wars and the Korean War.

Victoria's southern shoreline offers one of the most scenic urban walks in western Canada. On this self-guided audio tour, you'll follow the Dallas Road waterfront into Beacon Hill Park, tracing stories of Indigenous land, ocean wildlife, and the remarkable Canadians who shaped this city's identity. The tour starts at the Ogden Point Sundial, near the cruise ship terminal, where you become the timekeeping device yourself. From there, you'll walk along the Strait of Juan de Fuca – keeping an eye out for humpback whales, harbour seals, and orcas – before crossing into Beacon Hill Park. Inside the park, you'll encounter formal rose gardens, camas fields that fed Indigenous communities for centuries, a colony of 80–100 Great Blue Heron nests, and the quietly sleeping Moss Lady. The tour ends at the Beacon Drive In, a walk-up snack institution that has barely changed since opening in 1958.

Victoria has more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in Canada and was voted one of the best foodie cities in the world. And some of the city’s best restaurants can be found in its oldest neighborhood, James Bay. On this self-guided walking tour, you’ll get insider knowledge on where to eat, what to order and the history behind the establishments. You’ll trace part of the harbor before venturing into James Bay proper and ending outside For Good Measure, a grocery and coffee shop. Along the way, you’ll find hidden gardens and hear the stories behind this historical neighborhood. You’ll also see some of the city’s iconic landmarks, like the Royal BC Museum and Legislative Assembly of British Columbia building, as well as some lesser-known ones, including the Victoria Cenotaph and the Knowledge Totem. I’ll provide behind-the-scenes information on Pendray Inn and Tea House, the James Bay Inn Hotel, and local institution Barbs Fish & Chips.
