How the Northern Lights Safari Works Your journey begins at the Rampen Adventure Hub, where you’ll receive a short introduction to the evening’s program and what to expect. From there, we set off by car, guided to the locations that offer the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights. If the weather and conditions allow, we will step out into nature, breathe in the crisp Arctic night, and enjoy something warm to drink as we wait for the skies to come alive.

If you want to experience the Nordic scenery but don’t know any routes, head out with a guide on an Arctic coastal walk. Allowing you to experience “friluftsliv,” aka the joy of the great outdoors, the walk follows a route around sandy beaches, includes stories about Norway’s Viking history, and finishes with a warming herbal tea against a backdrop of coastal views.

From beginning of September to April the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in Northern Norway are great. The weather (cloud cover) and the geomagnetic prognosis determine where the road takes us on the given day. We will take you where the chances of clear skies are the greatest and the best locations for seeing the Northern Lights. We go all in to find the Northern lights by checking 25+ different spots. Some nights we have a late return to Bodo (like 2 am). Last seasons we have had a hit rate around 80 %. Before the trip starts we will advice on how the chances to see the lights are. We head out from town in a comfortable Mercedes 7 seater van (4WD) with panoramic sunroof.

Combine 2 highlights of the Bodø region on this half day tour. Glide silently through majestic Nordfjord and step into history with a visit to Kjerringøy Handelssted. As we depart from Bodø we sail along the rugged coastline around Bodø. On the way we can admire the stunning mountain on Landegode and the picturesque narrow beach of Hovsundet. We sail into Mistfjorden, which at times does its name justice. Towards the end of the fjord it splits into two and we enter the narrow arm of Nordfjorden where mountains up to 800 meters rise high above us on either side. We continue to Kjerringøy where we will step on land and make a 10 minute stroll to breathtaking Kjerringøy Handelssted. This 19th century trading post has several well preserved buildings, including several beautiful old wooden boats. Roam around the open air museum and imagine what life would be like here 200 years ago. On the way back to Bodø, you can enjoy the unobstructed views over Vestfjorden.

As far as safaris goes - using ebikes gives us an unique and exciting close contact with nature. On flat and easy roads this is your chance to experience a close encounter with the local wildlife! We take our time as the evening twilight sets in a slow pace - keeping a good lookout at both sides. Moose encounters must be treated with respect and caution, so at any spotting we stop and assess this magnificent animals behaviour. Signs may indicate a calm retreat or an opportunity to stay and watch.
