So-called because of the majestic condors that frequently fly over it, the Mirador de los Cóndores is one of El Chaltén’s most popular lookout points. The natural balcony offers panoramic views of Mt. Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, two of the hiking hot spot’s most impressive mountains, and Rio de las Vueltas valley.
Nestled among the spectacular desert landscapes of northern Argentina is the Hill of Seven Colors (Cerro de los Siete Colores), a must-see spot in the Indigenous province of Jujuy (pronounced huh-hoy). The rock serves as the backdrop to the quaint village of Purmamarca, which looks straight out of the Wild Wild West.
At the southwestern tip of Nahuel Huapi Lake, surrounded by the snow-dusted peaks and evergreen valleys of the Andes, Puerto Blest is hidden away in one of the most remote corners of Argentina’s Lakelands. Reachable only by boat, the small port is the starting point for hikes to the Los Cántaros Lake and Waterfall.
Also known as the Church of the Sacred Heart, Iglesia de Los Capuchinos impresses with its dramatic mix of neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic architectural styles. It was selected as the First Official Wonder of Córdoba, thanks to the splendor of its facade, which is covered in sculptures and carvings that explore humanity’s relationship with God.
Shrouded by native forest and backed by the snow-capped spikes of Mt. Fitz Roy, Laguna Capri is a lovely blue water lagoon in Argentine Patagonia. You can reach it via an easy trail that leads you through woodlands and reveals panoramic views of the De las Vueltas River valley.
Just outside of Salta, San Lorenzo is a mountain suburb that’s home to some of the region’s best hiking spots. In addition to serving as the gateway to the flora-rich Quebrada de San Lorenzo cloud forest, the town is home to an abundance of opulent villas and a couple of attractive colonial churches.
Located on the northern coast of Argentina’s Patagonia region, Puerto Madryn is the gateway to Valdes Peninsula, a popular marine wildlife viewing destination. The peninsula is home to a large population of the endangered southern right whales, dolphins, elephant seals, penguins, and more. Puerto Madryn is also a jumping-off point for exploring Punta Tombo, Argentina’s largest colony of Magellanic penguins.
Piedras Blancas Glacier is a low-hanging glacier that descends from the iconic Mt. Fitz Roy in El Chalten, Argentina's trekking capital. While you can’t access the glacier, a famous trail of the same name leads to a mirador with views of the vivid blue ice and the jagged peaks of Mt. Fitz Roy.
When it comes to wine-producing regions in Argentina, Mendoza hogs the limelight. But the small town of Cafayate in the northern desert province of Salta is one of the country’s prime spots for vinophiles. It’s home to the Museo de la Vid y el Vino, dedicated entirely to vines and wines. Sleek multimedia displays take you through the history and production process of each.
While most of Mendoza's wineries specialize in rich reds, most notably malbec, Bodega Cruzat has carved a niche for itself producing sparkling wines. Founded by winemaker Pedro Federico Rosell in 2004, Cruzat grows pinot noir and chardonnay grapes, and produces a selection of fine white and rose sparkling wines using traditional methods.
Taking you high above the trekking capital of Argentina, Sendero Loma del Pliegue Tumbado is a moderate-to-difficult trail that snakes up to the summits of Pliegue Tumbado, a chain of three rocky peaks that reach a maximum height of 5,085 feet (1,550 meters). This trail is typically less crowded than many other routes that start from El Chalten.
Perched on the southernmost tip of Argentina, Ushuaia Cruise Port is the gateway to the wild Patagonian landscapes of Tierra del Fuego National Park, as well as the start and end point for cruises to Antarctica and the Falkland Islands. Use the port as a jumping-off point for animal experiences, boat rides, and more.
During colonial times, Córdoba was an important center for Argentina’s Jesuit missionaries, and the Jesuit Block (Manzana Jesuítica) is an important part of its Jesuit history and heritage. Sitting at the heart of Córdoba’s Historic Center, the complex of buildings dates back to the 17th century and is preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Campers, fly fishers, and hikers make a beeline for Los Alerces National Park (Parque Nacional Los Alerces). Close to Argentina’s border with Chile, this park is a place of stunning natural beauty, with turquoise lakes and rivers, glaciers, waterfalls, alpine meadows, and some of the oldest trees on earth.
Located in El Chalten, the trekking capital of Argentina, Sendero a Piedra del Fraile is considered to be an easy hiking trail, which takes you through the valley of Rio Electrico. The route winds through ancient Patagonian woodland to reveal views of Mt. Fitz Roy and the Pollone glacier.
Camino de las Altas Cumbres (High Peaks Trail) is a 62-mile (100-kilometer) route that takes you through the heart of the Sierras de Córdoba mountains. The most famous section of the road connects the city of Córdoba with the Traslasierra Valley, renowned for its traditional villages and lovely natural landscapes.
The Acsibi Caves (Cuevas de Acsibi were formed thousands of years ago and are notable for the vivid red hue of their sandstone rock formations. Located in Calchaquíes Valley, the caves are famous for the light that filters through the gaps in their ceiling, which creates an abstract vision of shape and shadow.
Perched on the banks of the Luján River in Tigre is Puerto de Frutos, a former fruit market that now focuses on handicrafts and other local goods. Wicker baskets, handwoven textiles, and leather items are sold alongside honey, homemade sweets, and chimichurri spice mixes, making it a great place to pick up souvenirs at the end of your time in Buenos Aires.
The largest landscaped space in Córdoba, Parque Sarmiento is hailed as the Argentine city’s green lung. Recreational and cultural opportunities abound here, whether you want to row a boat on the artificial lake, go skating on the rink, visit the Greek theater, browse museums, or wander nature trails winding through flower beds and over streams.
Beneath the looming peak of Piltriquitrón Mountain, the Patagonian town of El Bolsón is known for its traditional artisans, handicrafts markets, and bohemian roots. It's surrounded by Patagonia’s unique blend of scenery—turquoise water, ancient trees, and a sky that just seems bigger than elsewhere in the world—so it’s worth visiting during your outdoor adventures.
Shrouded by ancient Patagonian forest, Chorrillo del Salto is a 65-foot (20-meter) waterfall in El Chaltén, Argentina's trekking capital. While the town might be famous for its more challenging treks, the route to Chorrillo del Salto is a short and easy walk through native woodland past gentle streams.
A family-owned winery known for its high-altitude wines, Bodega Domingo Hermanos is a destination for tasting the many flavors of Salta. Founded in the 1960s, this bodega offers tours of its production facilities and an introduction to the traditional winemaking methods in this corner of Argentina. The oldest church in continuous service in Argentina, the Cathedral of Córdoba is a National Historic Monument dating back to the 16th century. It’s notable for its blend of architectural styles, including baroque, classical, and Spanish colonial, and took more than 200 years to build. The interior is just as impressive as the exterior, with its gold vaulted ceilings and frescoes.
Spanning the Paraná River, Ponte Tancredo Neves connects Brazil and Argentina. The bridge not only serves as an engineering marvel but also a symbol of the harmonious relationship between the two countries, which is why it’s often better known as the Friendship Bridge. You can walk, drive, or even cycle over the bridge to cross the border between countries.
Paso del Viento refers to the stretch of land overlooking Argentine Patagonia’s Southern Ice Field, one of the largest non-polar glaciers on the planet. Accessible via a challenging 3-day trek, Paso del Viento (which translates to Windy Pass) sits at 4,685 feet (1,428 meters) above sea level and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and valleys.

Every Monday, the percussion group La Bomba de Tiempo plays at Buenos Aires’ Ciudad Cultural Konex. It’s one of the more unusual attractions in the city, but more than five million people have seen the show over the past 12 years. Join the crowds dancing to the rhythms of the drummers.
