What are people saying about Antigua

Best host, best food, best views
We toured through the massive market and learned some really impressive things about some items there. Our instructor picked out some choice ingredients from special vendors, and then he drove the small group to his rooftop school where he and his assistant Diego shared with us some choice recipes! We had such a magical experience- the view from the rooftop was so dreamy. I cannot recommend it enough!!

Well worth your time and money!
This was a great experience for me and my 13 year old daughter. We arrived at the tour operator location in Antigua a bit early which gave us time to get acclimated (purchase sunglasses and sunscreen we forgot). We were easily able to get by with a mix of english and spanish easily. Estuarto, our guide, was a great guy. They made sure we were able to get by no problem navigating both on and off road. Our first stop took us through coffee fields to some old lava fields to the base of Pacaya. It is huge! Pictures do not do this place justice. Our second stop brought us to some new lava fields (2021) that were much darker. We walked a bot through the fields, had our lunch (great avocado and cheese sandwich), and were able to feel the heat from the magma about 40m below. Our third stop was a lagoon formed within the caldera of one of the volcanoes. Nice and relaxing. It was a great experience - well worth both the time and money.

If you need a shuttle, definitely pick them!!!
Our driver stayed in contact with us the whole time until we met up with him. He was so kind to let us make a couple of stops on the way to Antigua. I highly recommend this service, felt completely safe and Roberto even waited until the people for our Airbnb came to open the door.

Guatemalan food cooking class
Amazing experience. It’s a fun, interactive class where you cook a delicious 3 course meal and it includes wine. I definitely recommend this to anyone traveling to Antigua and any place nearby. You learn about the plates and get hands on in the process

I am so glad I chose...
I am so glad I chose experience GT to do the hike with. The company organized everything perfectly giving us all the information we needed in order to be properly prepared for the trip. Our guides were encouraging, patient and very knowledgeable.
Do not skimp on the amount of layers you bring on the hike because it is really needed. I had a tank top, a water proof long sleeve, a thermal layer on top, a waterproof hoodie, a puffer and a waterproof wind breaker. For majority of the hike up. For bottoms, I had a pair of capri leggings and hiking pants, and 2 separate pairs of socks packed. For the hike up to lunch break (about 3 hours) I had on my tank, water proof long sleeves and capri leggings. By lunch, I had put in my thermal layer over it + waterproof zip up hoodie and capri pants as it got pretty windy. And then once at base camp, I put on my puffer, gloves (with hand warmers inside), and neck gaiter to protect from the dust for the fuego hike. And then once at the ridge, I put on my waterproof jacket. I was very warm.
The hike to see fuego was the hardest part for me. The hike to base camp is steep but there are moments of flat stretches to help recover. However, the hike to fuego starts downhill for about 30 minutes or so, and then very steep uphill with no flat stretches. It is important to bring snacks in your pocket and enough water to sustain you because guess what, the hike back, is also downhill and then very steep uphill, which sucks even more. However, the group was super encouraging and we all got through it together.
Coming back after dinner, we got rewarded with the best eruptions without any clouds. It made it all worth it.
I’d like to say a huge thank you to experience GT and our guides Erik and (I forgot his name but also very knowledgeable and experienced).

This was a great...
This was a great excursion that was relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful. We enjoyed perfect weather on a boat that zoomed across Lake Atitlan, then enjoyed a cacao tasting, honey tasting, and textile demonstration all in the city. The guide was very kind and informative, and we had some time to walk around and explore/shop.

ATV Sunset Adventure Tour Antigua
If you’re even thinking about booking an ATV tour in Antigua, stop thinking and just go with Simoon Rentals and Tours because this wasn’t just a tour… it was a full-blown adventure movie starring my family of nine.
We took the ATV ride up to Hobbitenango, and from the moment those engines fired up, it was game on. The ride itself? Unreal. You wind your way through cobblestone streets, then suddenly you’re climbing into the mountains where the air gets cooler, the roads get wilder, and the views… the views look like someone cranked the saturation up on real life. Think rolling green hills stacked into the horizon, clouds drifting at eye level, and massive volcano silhouettes standing guard in the distance like something out of a fantasy film. Every turn feels like it shouldn’t be topped, and then it is.
Shoutout to our guides, Daryl and Fredy, absolute legends. These guys didn’t just lead the tour, they made the experience. Safe, funny, dialed-in the whole time, and somehow still managing to feel like part of the crew rather than “the guides.” If there’s a Guide Hall of Fame somewhere, put them in it immediately.
We had three people in our group roll in the side-by-side with Daryl, which turned out to be a genius move. Not only were they cruising in comfort, but it gave us the chance to actually capture some epic action shots and scenery along the way. Highly recommend mixing it up like that if you’ve got a group.
Once at Hobbitenango ~ wow. The place is straight-up storybook material. We grabbed food there and it did not disappoint. Great flavors, perfect after the ride, and somehow even better with that mountain air. Then came the famous “hand” viewpoint... yeah, the one you’ve probably seen pictures of. Standing out there, suspended over the valley, with that insane backdrop? Worth every second (and every slightly nervous step walking out there).
And the sunset… 10/10 doesn’t even cut it. The sky lit up in layers of gold, orange, and deep purple, casting shadows over the mountains like a painting coming to life. One of those moments where everyone just kind of goes quiet because you know you’re witnessing something special.
One of my favorite parts though, every local we passed along the way gave a wave. It added this unexpected, genuine warmth to the whole experience. It didn’t feel like a tourist activity, it felt like being welcomed into the rhythm of the place.
Bottom line: Simoon delivers the kind of experience you talk about long after the trip is over. Adventure, views, great people, unforgettable moments, it’s all there.
Would I do it again? In a heartbeat, thanks again Daryl & Fredy!

Fun for all ages and those who love a mix of thrill and culture
I booked this tour after doing an ATV experience in Atitlan through the same operator since I had a great time there. The instructions are prettty good as far as where to meet for the tours. The first stop is at a park at Cerro de la Cruz which has an incredible view of Antigua and volcan de Agua. The route there didn’t have too much traffic though the cobble stones do make the ride a bit bumpy. The views at the first stop were incredible. Next stop was the main attraction at the Finca Azotea which was beautiful and super informative. It also had some of the best coffee that I’ve had yet in Guatemala and the coffee shop was soooooo cute. You must also try the chocolate rum at the chocolate production portion of the tour. In total there were 3 of us and we had an amazing time and loved our guide. I’d highly recommend this tour.

Absolutely a MUST-DO Activity!!!
I recently took a jade class at Casa de Jades where we selected our own piece of jade and transformed it into a finished, wearable piece — and it was such a rewarding experience! From the moment we chose our stone, our awesome instructor, David, guided us through every step, explaining how to carve, shape, and safely polish the jade to bring out its natural beauty.
The hands-on process was amazing!!! Learning how to carefully shape the stone and then polishing the jade in several steps was so interesting. Seeing the jade develop its smooth finish and vibrant shine made all the effort worthwhile.
By the end of the class, my husband created a beautiful pendant and I made a matching bracelet in Lavender Jade! Whether you’re creative or just looking to try something new, this class is a wonderful experience that blends artistry, craftsmanship, and a little bit of patience into something truly special!

Worth the Hike
We had such an amazing experience with this tour. Our guides Christian, Sammy and Jesus all made our journey fun and memorable and they did such an incredible job. This hike is very challenging so make sure you are in decent shape and well prepared. It is absolutely worth it. Definitely bring extra water and a mask for the dust.

The hike is harder than it looks
I had a great experience. I went for my birthday as a solo traveler please do not take this hike lightly. I started out on foot, but had to use the horses 10 minutes in the only thing I was disappointed in was the price of the horse it said it was 300 online then the employee changed it to $300 going up the hill and $300 going down. Also, please bring a hat and gloves and also walking sticks. They’re $40 on Amazon and it’s definitely worth it.

This trip was amazing. We...
This trip was amazing. We were a little underprepared to carry as much in our pack as we did, so I would say pack smart and layer up because it get cold overnight. The guides that went up Acatenango with us were so kind, patient, and tentative. They are really good at what they do and I was just so impressed by the work they do. Highly recommend this tour company.

Antigua, Guatemala, tours run the gamut. To get your adrenaline pumping, opt for an overnight sunrise summit hike of the Acatenango Volcano to safely view the adjacent—and still highly active—Volcán de Fuego. Not an early riser? Buckle your helmet strap and explore the countryside and its mountain villages via ATV sunset tour. For something more laid-back, take a day tour of Lake Atitlán, join a cooking class and market tour, or learn about the locally-produced chocolate and coffee. Whether adventure-driven or culture-centric, each Antigua tour will give you something to talk about.
