Best food tour I have ever been on. Tea is a born and breed Zagreb local who is a true foodie and very in touch with the current food scene in Zagreb. If you want a truly local experience this is the tour for you. Not only do you get to try the best of traditional Croatian food in Zagreb, she also gives you recommendations for the rest of the hot spots in Croatia. Run, don’t walk to book this tour.

We had the absolute best time with Tea as our food and culture guide!! She showed us the best of the best, and we continued to use her recommendations for the other cities we visited after Zagreb, which never disappointed. If you only do one thing in Zagreb, make it this one!! Also come hungry!

After a scheduling mishap guide Tea was very flexible to reschedule. The tour was great featuring a lot of delicious Croatian food (don’t have too big of a breakfast because before!). Tea was also very warm, understanding, knowledgeable, and resourceful. Being that it is also a small group (in fact I was the only participant) also gave this tour a more personable feel. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to do a day activity in Zagreb and to have a full taste of Croatian/Balkan cuisine!

Wow! This was a wow experience! Tea was a fantastic guide. She has clearly done her homework. She started by getting us acclimated to Zagreb then took us out exploring. Everything was perfect. We tried small cafes, a fancy coffee shop, and local gems. If you take this tours come hungry!

We had an unforgettable food tour of the city with Tea, our amazing guide! I do a food tour in almost every city I visit - get some countries favorites. This tour was exceptional, not only because of the food but the guide. Tea was one of the best tour guides I had. She was informative, attentive, knowledgeable, overall, the BEST.

You think the title is joking. We are not!
Our guide, Tea, was amazing. She was not only personable and lovely to be around but she really took time and effort to curate the perfect gastronomic tour in Zagreb. She was our best friend for half a day.
We were fortunate that it was only the three of us that spent the next four and a half hours together walking, talking, eating, and drinking our way through the city. From home-made treats to sampling food at iconic locations and local restaurants in the centre of Zagreb, sharing stories with her contacts at the local shops plus meeting local characters on this knowledge filled adventure . It was a masterpiece.

One of the best food tours we have taken!
Our guide Tea was wonderful!
We learned about the history of Zagreb as well as the history of all our food samplings.
There is a lot of food to eat on this tour so go hungry!
Kevin_D, Oct 2025
We enjoyed a fantastic education into the history and cultural aspects of food in Zagreb. Tea, our guide gave us lots of information about the habits of eating and how many of the meals developed over many centuries. The food we tasted was awesome, very varied and we understood how it came about.
The food represented real home cooking, typical times it was eaten and drinks to complement making this a brilliant experience.
We have already recommended this tour to friends and they agreed that it was the best food experience they have had.
It should be a “must do “ when you visit Zagreb

We’ve taken food tours in every country we have been to. And we’ve been to too many places to count! This particular tour is definitely in the top five of all the food tours we’ve ever taken. The reason for that first and foremost was our guide Tea. Not only did we learn about the area and history, but she also informed us on what is happening in modern Zara. And as for the food. There was a lot of food, but I wouldn’t change a thing about it! It was delicious and she told the history of the food how to make it and anything you wanted to know about it. There was so much variety to eat. And I learned I actually love Croatian food! But like I said the highlight was Tea. She was so professional and insightful. Highly recommend taking this tour!
David_K, Sep 2025
Tea was an amazing tour guide! She did a fantastic job of relating the foods we tasted to historical times or events and the different regions of Croatia. She was very friendly, easy to talk to and had a wealth of knowledge about her city and country.

One of the best tours I have ever been on anywhere in the world! Tea took me around Zagreb from historic hotels to the local market with its milk women offering fresh cheeses to local food stands to modern (yet down to earth) restaurants. This tour had it all and Tea sprinkled in some of her home cooked delicacies that she brought with her for me to try. THANK YOU Tea!!!
Oh, and her knowledge of the history behind the dishes is phenomenal. This is a food and history tour, so get ready to be stimulated mind, palate, and soul!!!
Krystyna_K, Sep 2025
Tea was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable about food and when one restaurant was closed for a private event, handmade our first dish so we didn’t miss out! She really is a great guide!
Lynn_E, Sep 2025
We highly recommend this exploration of Croatian food and Zagreb. Tea was very knowledgeable, weaving together history and cuisine in a memorable and interesting excursion. We highly recommend this tour for visitors interested in local food and culture.
Lauran_S, Sep 2025
Highly recommend taking this tour with Tea! She is delightful and clearly cares so much about giving her guests a wonderful experience. I ended up having a solo tour as no one else had booked, and so I felt rather like Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations as we went around sampling food and chatting. Best tour I did in Zagreb.
Thomas_K, Sep 2025
I was surprised that my group turned out to be a party of one. Tea my guide and soon to become my best friend for the day was totally at ease.
So, how do you write about something you really enjoyed without gushing it was wonderful.
I have taken several foodie tours. They are uniformly an excellent way to get a crash immersion course into wherever you find yourself. Local dives you’re not quite sure of, concerns about language? Non issues. Your new best friend speaks the lingo and amazes with shortcuts and special places you would never walk into on your own. All of this with great local history that you would otherwise simply walk by. Spectacular. 1, 2, 4, maybe 6 in size these groups are purposely small. Price tends to filter out. What you get is a close personal exchange excellent food and great stories along the way.
Easy walk places you would never find. A really wonderful way to be a traveler, not a tourist. Allergic to large groups, this is for you.
Highly recommended.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Very thorough tour with lots of history and interesting facts about the city. We sampled many dishes, too. Our guide was charming and professional!!

Tea was the absolute best part of my trip to Zagreb! It turned out that I was the only one booked that day (I am a solo traveler) and she did not cancel on me as others have in the past! Tea hit on both savory and sweet foods and topped it off with a little treat at the end! She knows her stuff and shared really interesting information on not only the food, but the history and the people of Zagreb - she clearly loves her city and it shows. It honestly was like spending the day with a great friend! I highly recommend this tour!

Exactly! The tour with you, my beautiful soul, felt like a day spent with a friend—as if we’ve known each other for years.
Thank you for that. It reminded me why my job is so beautiful!
Pamela_C, Jun 2025
What an amazing day. I lucked out and got Tea as a private tour guide because the other people in the group canceled. Tea was so knowledgeable about the history of the city and Croatia. She was also knowledgeable about the history regarding each yummy dish. During this tour I fell in love with my new addiction…Strukli! Every place we stoped had amazing food plus amazing stories to go along with each dish. Including sampling some fresh cheese at Dolac market. Tea was a joy to hang out with while exploring the culture and stuffing my face too. Good thing I skipped breakfast that day.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Thank you, Pam!! What an amazing time. That spontaneous pelinkovac, honesty, and openness we had added another dimension to it all.
Respect!
Like I said, I’ll bring štrukli to you if I get the chance!
Dariush_G, May 2025
Our tour guide was Tea and she was very knowledgeable and friendly! We had six different tasting at six different places each served their unique dish. We would highly recommend Tea for this tour

Outstanding Experience.
Do not eat before the tour. A number of historical sites were explained very well. Our Guide Tea, was very easy to contact, as well as an excellent tour guide. Great intro to the many Croatian meals and drinks. Plenty of food!

Tea was an awesome tour guide. She was very patient and most accommodating. She discussed Zagreb’s history and how it influenced the local cuisine in a very interesting way. There were lots of sweet and savory local foods that we tried and some homemade goodies that she made herself. The best part was meeting very nice people in the tour. She sent us a message right before our tour to come with an empty stomach… you really should. Very good tour overall. Would highly recommend.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Thank you, Katherine!
That’s a very thorough review—I believe it will be really useful for all my future guests.
Hope to see you in Croatia again… maybe when you marry a Croatian! :)
Maya_D, May 2025
Tea did an excellent job of explaining the origins of several dishes. We sampled many different types of food, both savory and sweet. As we walked she told us about the significance to the culture. I highly recommend this tour. You won’t be disappointed!

Wonderful blend- tour, history and most of all amazing food. I would have never tried these items. And of i did, I would have spent way more money trying and wasting.
Tea is a fabulous guide.

Our guide was also the aspiring company owner who was focused on giving her guests a great experience with local food and history. There were several quality food stops so come hungry and you may get to even take shot or two. Come hungry and ready for fun. We left a recommendation for an evening food tour option which is missing in Zagreb altogether.
Response from Host, Jan 2025
Dear David,
Thank you for your thoughtful review and kind words! I appreciate your suggestion for an evening food tour—such great feedback helps us grow and improve.
Wishing you all the best.

Tea was an absolutely fantastic guide - very passionate about the history and gastronomy of the city. Make sure you come hungry and pace yourself because there's no shortage of food! She really went the extra mile for us and even sent me a list of places to visit around the city based on my interests.
