As you make your way around Waterloo Lake, I’ll dive into the park’s history and show you some of its more manicured areas, like the Specialist and Coronation Gardens. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, nature lover, or just looking to spend a leisurely afternoon outdoors, this Roundhay Park tour has something for everyone.

Canal cruises tend to come with dry commentary, which can make an hour on the water drag. This one keeps things entertaining, narrated by comedian Dave Spikey, of "Phoenix Nights" and "8 Out of 10 Cats," whose recorded tour walks through Skipton's history and the story of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal with jokes alongside the facts. Food and drink are served on board, and the trip runs whatever the weather.

Yorkshire's countryside is at its best away from the roads, along the quiet canals you can't reach on foot. This cruise takes you out onto the water with a traditional Yorkshire afternoon tea served on board—sandwiches, scones, and desserts—as the barge moves through the countryside.

Leeds lets its buildings do the talking. But scratch the modest Yorkshire surface, and you'll find a city built almost by outsiders: a penniless refugee who turned one market stall into Marks & Spencer, a French inventor who filmed cinema's first moving images here, and a mummified Egyptian priest who made a single sound in a local museum after 3,000 years of silence. This app-led, self-guided walking tour of Leeds takes you past grand Victorian arcades, a music hall where Chaplin and Houdini once performed, and the ale house at the heart of the region's oldest pub rivalry. Pause whenever you like and pick up where you left off, with no fixed start time and no group to keep pace with.
