This was easily one of the best experiences I’ve had in India.
Dhiraj personally picked me up on his scooter from my hotel (Ramada Plaza, Cantonment area), which was a fun and memorable way to start the morning. From there, he arranged an absolutely magical sunrise photo session on the Ganga with a Shaiva sadhu on a boat. Even though I only had my iPhone, he made sure I got amazing shots. He also brought his professional camera and offered to send me all the high-quality images he captured, which was incredibly generous.
Beyond the photography itself, Dhiraj is simply a super fun guy to hang out with. He’s relaxed, easy to talk to, and has a great sense of humor. But he’s also extremely knowledgeable. After the boat ride, we walked along the ghats, and he explained the rituals, history, and significance of the cremation sites with clarity and respect. As someone born and raised in Varanasi, living right near the ghats, he shares stories and insights you would never get from a standard guide.
We stopped for fresh chai from a local vendor, talked about life in Varanasi, and soaked in the morning atmosphere. It felt less like a tour and more like spending a few hours with a friend who genuinely wants you to experience his city the right way.
For any Western travelers, photographers, or anyone hoping to truly understand and feel the spiritual energy of Varanasi while also getting incredible photos, I highly recommend this tour. Dhiraj goes above and beyond, and this experience was a highlight of my entire trip.

Thoroughly enjoyed the photo walking tour with Dhiraj Goswami. Getting up early made all the difference in getting some excellent shots. He knew great places to go and fantastic perspectives to shoot from. We explored a lot in the time we had together, and I got some fantastic shots. During the photowalk, he shared many local perspectives and gained a glimpse into the Varanasi street photography community. Overall, it was a pleasure to spend time with Dhiraj, and I'd highly recommend booking this for any street photographer visiting Varanasi. Ps. Sony is the best. :)

As we walked through the Varanasi's ghats and streets, Dhiraj’s expert eye for detail and unique perspective on everyday scenes opened up a world of creative possibilities. His innovations on framing shots, finding the right light, and capturing the essence of each moment made for an excellent morning walk. Dhiraj is also very insightful about camera hardware and rating different commercial equipment for street photography use cases.
As a Varanasi local, he also has a lot of spots along the tour for tasty food, snacks and chai. I would highly recommend his Varanasi photo walk for anyone interested in street photography or for a casual stroll to learn more about this beautiful city.

Amazing experience!

Dhiraj did an excellent job of guiding me through the back alleys and roads in Varanasi and pointed out excellent shots along the way. He also provided technical assistance with my camera and explained ways to improve the quality of my photos. We had a nice chat over chai tea and talked about his philosophy of life. A very talented and charming man, Dhiraj was fun to be with and also helped me get some amazing photos of Varanasi on this tour. I definitely would recommend it.

The guide was accommodative to the needs of the tourist and focussed on the priorities. Had also managed a boat trip. The only thing is my tour started at 6 am and completed close to 3 hrs. The guide was willing to spend more time on another day.

The photo tour with Dhiraj Goswami was fantastic! He gave me good advice about how to capture the magic of Varanasi and it's people. He also photos of me in a beautiful background. We went along the Ganga at sunrise when the light is beautiful and in many secret little back streets and local places to have great chai tea and snacks only known by the locals and also great places to take photos. I highly recommend this tour with Dhiraj and his work is beautiful, you can also follow him on instagram, a great photographer.

Anyone who loves photography should just do a tour with him!
He knows Varanasi very well and for professional photographers it's great to discover places that you would never find without him. He can help amateur photographers to expand their photography skills or if you are a beginner he can teach you the basics of photography.

インドらしい写真を撮りたいけど、一人だと躊躇すると思いますが、このツアーに参加すると現地の人でしか分からないようなポイントに行ったり、シャッターポイントを的確にアドバイスしてくれます。インド人はカメラを向けても全く気にしないようで良いポートレートがたくさん撮れます。何かあっても横についていてくれるので安心して撮影できます。インドらしい写真を撮りたい方には非常におすすめです。
