This review is not about the things you’ll see. The salt flats are a very special place and the other stops are awesome as well, especially if you have not visited this are on ghe argentinian or chilean side. This noted, the tour was not particularly great. The guide was not very friendly or social. It seemed a burden to him go inform us about what’s up next. And he sometimes just ignored us. He was more a driver than a tour guide. The whole time management was something special. We got up really early just to arrive in a hostel with 0 activities in the very early evening, instead of just having a relaxed day. The information beforehand was not helpful either. We specifically asked what to bring and they only told us snacks and water. No mention of hiking shoes, warm clothes or toilet paper (as none of the hostels provided it). The lady at the reception desk was really kind though and organised a Bus trip for us and the driver (for an additional fee) used the remaining time of the tour to bring us once more to the salt flats as it had rained. Thank you for that dedication. It feels mean to even write this after the help you offered, but I simply cannot recommend this tour. In general Uyuni is flooded with tourists and the tours all follow the same time frame. Everything is going to be crowded where-ever you go. In the end we should have just went without a tour. Well, next time

For those jumping off into Chile the trip is really two and a quarter days. The first day is spent on the salt flats, the second more in the mountains taking in the sights. The accommodation on the second night was basic but was more than made up for by the stargazing while bathing in the hot spring. Our guide was very knowledgable and we felt very safe in the hands of our driver. Thoroughly enjoyed this trip.

Would definitely recommend the three day your. Our guide Edgar, was very knowledgeable about the area and worked hard to ensure we were all happy. You see so much more than the salt flats, volcanoes, guysers, hot springs, lakes, mountains and amazing wildlife. Edgar answered all our questions. Accommodation near Chile on the second night was very basic so come prepared and you will be fine.
